Also, the difference between where we were and where we are going is the difference between Tom Murphy and Flynn Perez.

One is a gun kick with manic attack on the man and the ball, the other is a gun kick.

Maj.

The difference between2017 (6 wins) and 2018 (13 wins but no finals, footy gods hate Brad) was the improvement in form of Maj
...
and Jed Anderson (which had its own intrinsic midfield value and freed JZ up to play forward and kick nearly 40 goals.) But definitely Maj.

Dunno if he is still up to playing at that level, especially for long enough to make a difference re finals but he made a massive difference when played as as an intercepting backman.

I said on another thread that I would have kept Maj and Pittard if it was my call. But I can also see that their age counted against them and I agree that there must be a concern that Maj can no longer play at his best level.

I do hope that they get a go at another club and play regular AFL football in the next couple of years.

You can’t get a top 10 pick for a guy who is 33 next year.
And even if a club was desperate and offered something 'ridiculous' like that I think we would say no for the reasons stated earlier.

One of those anomalies where the market does not work here - an older player who has specialist skills who is worth more to his current club than any new club would be wiling to offer.

Doesn’t matter if he wants to go - just improves our leveraging.
Why would we let him go? Who is going to be ruck next year? Please don’t say Xerri or Campbell. If that’s where we are heading then we might as well kiss next goodbye as well.

Joshua Ladu out of South Sudan. A lazy 294.64 cm or if you'd prefer 9ft 8 inches tall. Jokes aside how awesome would that be? win every hit out ever and play FF with his hands in the air.

Maj is the only one of those players who I think still offered something. Tho I think you are right about the concerns around his body. But for a cold in March who knows what would have happened. Maybe Williams is unlucky. Can really defend, and attacked off the backline well last year. Maybe that suspension was seen as too ill disciplined on field. Too many poor kicks and short stepped contests wouldn't have helped his cause either.

Pittard and JMac were both members of the leadership group when we lost JZ and Cunners then had our worst year since I was about three years old. JMac was challenged by the coach to get more out of himself and didn't really manage much so no surprise there. Pittard was demonstratably poor in one game. His shithouse leadership cost us a shot on goal and possibly the game. Our onfield standards were terrible. At the start of the year we said anything less than finals was a failure. We failed spectacularly and someone has to pay. Those guys unfortunately wore it but they didn't provide what we needed (onfield leadership) when we needed it.

Is there anything in the last 6 pages of this thread that's worth reading?
Dan’s throwing out some bait and getting some nibbles..

He could be talking to himself again though..
