As someone with media experience you should be well and truly aware of semantics.

You're lambasting the club unfairly.
Not lambasting at all - just stating a fact. They told him to go - fact. I just think they weakened their position by sacking him and publicly confirming we had told him to move on. It lacked discretion and weakened our leverage. Now maybe Pickers was going to tell the world anyway but same result I suppose.

Isn't managed by Pickers.

I cannot help wonder if this has dictated why we haven't re-signed brown or Anderson

Yeah, I am sure that is part of the reason. It is also the element of doubt in terms of what role they will be playing after a few years.

Weren't we expecting something finalised by noonish? And also who was the party that has come in late for brown.... fact or fiction? If fact can only assume it's * as they are linked with TMac 2mP aswell

If Rama has anything to do with it Brown will go where the money is best....

Brown should sack Rama after his contract fiasco. He obviously had zero awareness what the market was for his client and was being unreasonable with us with the money he was demanding.

Cats make Giant offer for Jezza

Jay Clark – Exclusive
Geelong has offered Greater Western Sydney two first-round picks for superstar forward Jeremy Cameron.

The Herald Sun has confirmed the Cats have put two first-round choices on the table for Cameron.
The Cats have No. 13, No. 15 and No. 20 and have agreed to part with two of them for the Coleman Medallist.
Geelong want Cameron a later pick back from GWS.

Every other club should make a gentlemen's agreement not to initiate trade for any pies player.

Then everyone sits back and watches how long it takes Collingwood to firesale themselves.
Nek minnit, Eddie gets on the phone to Gil and 17 clubs are done for draft tampering.

Anyone know if we've spoken to Caldwell? Highly speculative i know but would he be preferable to using our second pick in the draft?

I don't know but agree should have been over him.... guessing the request for a first rder put us off.... but grabbing him in the mid, and lmac in the draft up fwd.... some good holes filled

might have been a masterstroke of BBB had played the house down this season. simple case of bird in the hand.

I mean, even our "lowball" offer was around the same kind of cash they are looking at by the only other club to be interested in him, it was just 2 years. If he actually backed himself, he would either take the 2 years or ask for just a 1 year extension then get back to playing his best footy and then ask to extend based on that.

He's gone for the safe 5 year deal which would just be selling himself short if he got back to his best footy. It seems like he doesn't have the confidence to back himself and that doesn't bode well because if you do not believe, you never achieve.

Wellsy I believe volunteered a paycut.
Pay cut or deferral? Wasn't it around the time that he was offered an ongoing, post-playing role?

I see that "wide-ranging off-field role" is now the preferred euphemism for arrangements of this type.

Has anyone heard whether Polec's on the way out? I thought I read somewhere he was trade bait to, but haven't heard much since.

Where do I sign? He is lighting quick, has x-factor, and a bit of mongrel about him. That hit on McGrath last year was brutal. At this stage in time we have turner...almost any small forward in the league offers more. I hope the new coach has enough sense to move Turner to the backline and give another small forward a go. Huffing and puffing at moderate pace and living off hits from 5 years ago doesn't really do it for me nor does it for opposition players/coaches.

What's the catch on him? Highlights looked very good on season debut, ankle injury then didn't fire in 2020. Listed at 190cm. Intensity, speed, and pressure looked great, averaged just shy of a goal a game. Providing there's no off field issues, his body is right etc, reckon we'd be mad not to be talking to him. 1yr contract great risk/reward.
