More than a few rumours getting about that I've heard, that the GC deal may be done "in principle" with North.

North have the ability to reneg at any point up until the draft.

Take it with a grain of salt, but I've heard it from a few different people since the end of trade week.

Pick 2 for Pick 5,27,37 2021 R1.

North get the leftover of Hollands, DGB and Phillips. Most likely Phillips at this stage.

Watch Sydney get Hollands and Campbell.

Are we building a good team or a premiership team?

Im mean 3/4s of Rowell, then we give pick 2 to GC as well who then get the player they actually think is better.

Seems like many are happy for a scatter gun approach. By god i hope the club can actually identity star quality with pick 2, if not we're in for a world of pain - or more pain i should say and they are in the wrong game.

To me not having the conviction of picking the player you really think is best and allowing others to leave you the slops is weak.

If we think Phillips is the best player in the draft why risk him not being there at 5,6,7 or whatever else? Praying other teams cant identify his talents is failed logic. We cant pick who is best? Get different recruiters.

Um, I think you've managed to read far too much into my two line post but that's alright ;) I was simply saying I wouldn't mind Phillips as first pick and I think using Matty Rowell as a yard stick to baseline against is not unreasonable given there's no Vic form this year.

Btw I don't necessarily disagree with your comments but the machinations of the draft pick manoeuvring is not my forte.

theres no chance we will give pick 2 for anything. if we do they should all be sacked - keep it, get the second best kid, market it and build around him.

l think they will only consider swapping #2 if the player that they want is picked up by Adelaide with their #1. l would like to them to keep pick #2 also..

Pick six is a bit of an outlier
This is also a good resource. https://www.draftguru.com.au/analysis/pick-value-comparison/medians

Couple of interesting tidbits. Takes on average 1.5 pick 2s to reach 200 games compared to 3.6 for picks 6-10.
The gap widens dramatically for an AA player. 1.8 to 6.2

Obviously this doesn't take into account talent dispersion being different from year to year, so I guess it depends what Finnigan/Luff/Clayton think of this year's class.

This was my thoughts on the trading prior to Pykie which probably makes the GC option more appealing:

So had a look at Cal's list and thinking about the possible trade scenarios. Not knowing a lot about the draft class, wondering thoughts on the following:

1. Keep Pick 2, draft McDonald or Hollands;

Following would only work if McDonald is there I would think:

2. Trade Pick 2 for GC Pick 5 and 2021 1st Rd (pick3-6?) - take Philips with 5, but not sure on Thillthorpe so if he is taken at 1, happy to proceed;

3. Trade Pick 2 plus either 2nd Rd or 11 for Ess 6,7,8
- Bruhn (midfield skill)
- Perkins (X-Factor mid/forward)
- Reid/Cox (KP defender)

Question is always if the sum is greater than the one.
I hope our stance is to fk Dildoro around, with live trading on draft night, stringing him along with more and more demands, with absolutely no chance in hell of doing a deal with him, then with a minute to go on the clock we put the GC deal through, which we had all along.

So our dilemma is something like do we use pick 2 on someone like Petracca vs getting both LDU and Sympkin, plus two players of Comben/Mahoney/Perez level.

Brad Moran also speaks impressively.
Retiring from footy was probably the best thing that ever happened to him

Agreed. Once he’s over his injury, can see him teaming up with LDU to form a top line midfield.

That is not certain in that he is similar type to LDU. However, Holland could certain start off his career as a medium forward with burst in the middle. Because we already have LDU, this is the only reason why we might not draft Holland.

I always look to the Brisbane midfield as the best. Akermanis was the line breaking mid, Voss was the explosive inside mid, Black was the accumulator.

We got the explosive inside mid (LDU), Simpkin looks to be accumulator. We need a pacey line breaker.
