His knee must be cactus. Otherwise we would have been better off swallowing our pride and keeping him so we're paying towards the cap, even if he's doing SFA.

I think the major problem was us playing him in the ruck when Goldy needed a rest, if he couldn't do that any longer we would need to bring in a second ruck, I think two 200+ cm guys in the forward 50 is too top heavy.

So this Ben Brown deal, this was the great draft return they so many argued was needed for the list?

Improving pick 28 to 26 and getting pick 33?

Wow.

Explain how we're better off this way than having re-negotiated to keep a quality player and loyal clubman for 3-4 years?
Bradys Rawling. There I said it. :stern look

More draft rule changes ...

Although list sizes are being cut to a minimum of 37 as per Michael Gleeson's report this morning clubs have been told of two shifts in the rules relating to the draft being held in December.

The AFL have reduced the requirement that clubs take three selections at the draft to just one. Most clubs will make more than one pick but several clubs are considering adding one player from the total pool and then using the remaining points to put academy, father-son or NGA graduates on the list.

The second change is that clubs will be able to take selections into the national draft as if the primary list is still at 40. This is important as clubs have had to take as many picks into the draft as they had list spots available but the uncertainty around list sizes left them concerned about what they could do this season. Some clubs also wanted to potentially trade picks on the night so having an extra number would increase liquidity into the system.

Hawthorn have raised uncertainty around list spots on their Hawk Talk Podcast as one of the reasons they were finding it hard to seriously consider Tom Phillips as football manager Graham Wright said they needed list spots to take in draft picks that would cover the points that might be required if they matched any bid for NGA prospect Connor Downie.

A straight Brown for a 2nd rounder should have been the deal unless we're trying to package some points together to try and claim another first rounder.

I know there's a bunch out there that think it's better to get something for him than nothing but I'd rather we send him to the PSD if we don't do something with these picks to improve our draft position.

Dismal return for Brown. Don't see how that was a mutually beneficial trade for the club. Very disappointed in how that one has shaken out. As soon as North put out that statement months ago, the footy world and their dead uncle knew down was out the door and we got low balled hard. Club blew their bargaining position which is what I said months ago.

Bag the pick, hopefully move it on as part of a package for something better but that preuss was worth more despite gws overpaying is a poor reflection of this deal in isolation. Up to Brady to turn this around into a positive because in isolation, this deal ain't it

To be reamed by Melbourne, Melbourne for **** sake

If that's the deal, we've traded him for significantly less than likes of Rory Lobbe, Jack Watts, Josh Bruce and Matt Kennedy received when leaving in the last few years.

Can’t trust them to do Stephenson now in my opinion. We won’t benefit

Now they are making it easier for clubs with NGA's. It just keeps getting better.

in a way more speculative draft

It could benefit us getting a hold of the Dogs pick or say Collingwoods first pick.

4 picks vs Adelaides 2 picks doesn't matter anymore.

Just comes down to total points.

I don't really care how we slice it and dice it.

If the net result is 2, 11, 14 and Corr, Stephenson, Young (and change) then I will take that every day
If that's how it works out, then it's a thumbs up from me as well.

Big picture, etc.
