Bucks is a god damned moron. At this stage you just step away, and let the situation deflate, it's not like they're likely to have anything else up their sleeve to damage your brand with.
Control freaks can't just step away and his ego demands he responds. Funnily enough Ed's the same.

It would be great if there was someone on the board that could track the number of list spots all clubs have prior to the draft?

Given the reduction in list sizes, and the afl allowing clubs to take only one selection to the draft, it could mean that less than 50 players get picked in the national draft (imo).

For example, I think Brisbane, Geelong, GC, st Kilda and Carlton may only take one pick to the national draft.
Brisbane traded their way all the way out of the draft, so they may just re-rookie someone.
Sorry to harp on it, GC will package picks to move up.
Richmond may take 2
This could mean our late picks (70+) could come way in). But given the Q and A, it looks like we may only take 4 picks to the draft?

Having so many list spots open, means it could be an advantage to us (Surprising I know). We can really take a swing at some late picks, just because clubs don't have a spot for their picks.

Also important, we bid on the academy players where appropriate. From my understanding of the draft, JUH, Jones (port), Campbell and Gulden (Swans), Reef (Pies) are the main NGAs where we need to bid. Bid on these early, there is no doubt the clubs will take them, thus using up their late picks, and North having the ability to take a few swings late in the draft.

It might mean Will Walker and EVW might not end up on primary list, but be re-rookied?

Interesting they mentioned twice regarding our second round picks and still being able to trade up in the draft order.

I highly doubt we are done.

Will be some picks swaps imo.
I know we’re interested in trading up, and I’m certainly interested to see if we could move 11 into the top 10 but could we look at something like
11 + 30
For
13 + 20

With GWS?

You can’t wear your cricket whites in the front bar of The Royal Hotel these days, if that gives you a measuring stick.

Sadly, it's recently closed down for good.

A few years ago I stayed a couple of weeks at my brother's place around the corner from the Royal and was devastated, as a boy from the arid western suburbs of Perth, to find this beautiful old local pub closed, except for the bottle shop...where I at least made my presence felt....

I really enjoyed that chat. Thought they answered all the questions thoroughly. Hope they do them more often. Genuine positive feeling around the club.
What a difference 24 hours makes. After the BBB trade yesterday, a fair portion of this board thought the world was about to come to an end. I suppose it's a conditioned response, based on years of underwhelming results in relation to player trading and list management in general.

I will be shattered if Walker and EVW get delisted before Hall and Tyson. I know contracts is the factor here, but bewildering nonetheless. Neither Hall or Tyson should have ever got offered the contracts they got.

Walker should have been signed before Garner and Garner should be waiting on list sizes for a spot.

Hall and Tyson are still contracted, WW and EVW are not.

I said to a mate that it felt like we were the Dan Andrews of Trade week.

Brown = Hotel Quarantine
Stephenson = 14 donuts

Onward and upward from here.

Another article listing our kids and skipping over Will Walker. Pretty worrisome for him considering he remains unsigned. Hope at a minimum he is moved to our rookie list.
Thought exact same TBH. A worry.

I'll be pretty sad if Will Walker gets delisted after this is all said and done because he's clearly not had enough opportunity but then how many times have we seen this happen? If we could re-sign him and then rookie EVW (whom I believe has less opportunity) it would be the best result IMO but I'm also mindful that this draft is unprecedented in that academy/FS picks and the new squad sizes/rule that clubs only have to take one player will combine to see late picks come rocketing in. We could be drafting solely in the top 50 and if we rate say 30 players we may get a chance to take one of them with all of our picks.

What a phoney Buckley is.

You just know at some point Eddie said look mate everyone thinks your a dick head and if you don’t go do some study with a life coach we’re going to have to give you the arse and that will reflect badly on me. So now whenever you hear him talk in his new found scripted touchy-feely philosophical brotherly love manner it sounds so fake and forced, like a bad actor playing an enlightened being on some b grade movie. Can’t stand the guy, cheers to you Only Forwards for putting it so beautifully when you suggested he “stay the **** away from our players”. That’s real.

has there ever been a guy so disliked by his own players both as a coach or player so consistently? Ever?

North Melbourne is planning for big things to come on and off the field, after a bumper trade and free agency period according to CEO, Ben Amarfio.
“We’ve made some strong statements in the last couple of weeks,” Amarfio said.

“We’re all working methodically on a long-term plan. Some of those decisions have been painful to make, but they’re the decisions that will help turn the club around.”

A special panel comprising Amarfio, GM Football Brady Rawlings, Head of Player Personnel Scott Clayton and List Manager Glenn Luff, convened to answer member questions on Friday afternoon and covered a range of topics.

Clayton, who has had decades of experience in the AFL said the club was on the brink of something special as it prepares to enter the draft with its strongest hand in years.

“As much as we’ve enjoyed bringing the players in this week, we’re ready to go to the draft, which is where it gets really exciting.”
“We’ll have five picks in December. We’re so set out, and so excited.

“I fully expect media and fans to say next year, ‘Gee, North Melbourne’s exciting’.”

Luff, who spent 20 years at Champion Data before joining North, said the acquisitions of Aidan Corr, Lachie Young, Atu Bosenavulagi and Jaidyn Stephenson all fill a specific need.

“We looked at our defence and we needed to stock up there,” he said.

“We’ve been able to attract Aidan Corr, who was one of the first names on our board, and Lachie Young, who we think has been underutilised.

“The other thing we looked at was speed in the front half of the ground, and Jaidyn and Atu bring that.”

This was brilliant. I’m happy with the direction we are heading and am glad we took a stance in not giving Brown a 4 year contract. Otherwise we could see ourselves in the same situation as Collingwood.
