As quickly as you destroy the list, we can rebuild it just as quick with some ballsy decisions.

We've got guys with currency floating around our list who are capable of fantastic footy but potentially not with us anymore.

We've shown with our selections so far this year the safe option isn't our 1 Wood anymore, let's hope the list management goes down the same path.

I'd flick Lynch, Mrouch, Laird and Kelly of those with any sort of currency on the market. Brad obviously if the price is right for us too. If it's an end of first you'd keep him IMO.

Then of those who don't you've got Gibbs, Mackay and maybe Harto. Then Wilson goes probably with Berg at this stage.

That's 11 players without too much of a thought.

I disagree. You can destroy a list much quicker then you build one. Building one takes 4-5 years. Destroying it? well, that can be done in a season with enough determination.

IMO we've got some of the pieces in place already, and hopefully come the end of the year we will have a few more.

Bit of a left field scenario. What would you guys think of trading Rory Laird for Jackson Hately straight up? GWS have an excess of young talented mids which is keeping Jackson from getting regular games (and would likely continue to keep him from it), and although Rory Laird's is no longer shining for us, I do think his skillset would perfectly suit that GWS backline, and could see him return to his best footy.

I'll admit i'm not 100% sure how that trade would stack up value-wise. Rory has the runs on the board, but with every passing game as a Crow those runs seem further and further away. And Jackson hasn't played all that much, but having said that he is fighting for a spot in probably the most highly drafted midfield room in AFL history.

I could see it going through player for player (although those trades are as rare as hens teeth these days), but there could be arguments for steak knives on both sides.
Would be a good trade... except Laird wants to go to Melbourne.

What in the article didn't make sense. He was quoting Lloyd. We are deplorable. Recruiting and list management together with leadership and administration have been deplorable. No excuses now take it on the chin. Unless there are absolute massive changes across the whole club we will not win another premiership in a generation. Sad for me as a supporter who has supported them since inception. You put your heart and soul in the club and you end up with this. Absolute amateur hour.
Settle down. This club has been competing for a flag every six years or so it's entire history.

We all wanted the club to go all in for the flag. We didn't get it and now we're rebuilding.

We need to fix a LOT of things and we need to retain players instead of consistently losing them.

But there's no reason to think it'll take 20 years before we're competitive again.

No point getting rid of Kelly as he's got little currency and is an example to others with his attitude.

I'd take Marshall ahead of Gallucci, but really wouldn't want a character like Pickled Pig in our club
Marshall? Maybe.

We were going to draft Tim English instead of Gallucci but we knew our list was too slow. We've been trying to fix that ever since.

For me, the definitive things that need to be done this off season are -

* Brad Crouch signed for enough to get us a first round compo
* Rory Laird traded for reasonable draft pick
* Our second rounds traded for a first round pick from one of the sides needing points
* Major investment made in coaching staff, in development and training facilities and player retention
* Find a way to cull the players who are mentally shot

Plus, I'd love
* New chairman, CEO, COO

Of course, every team which wasn't created very recently has pieces at the start of a rebuild which they are hopeful will be key players at the end of it. I have about 6 names off the top of my head who I think will be there. It is a 4-5 year process regardless to create a list that should be competing for a top 4 spot which is probably the point we can tick it off and say "built".

Interesting, haven’t heard that on the grapevine yet.

Do you know if that rumour is from a decent enough source, or is it more of the ‘Henley Beach cafe’ variety?
Partner wants to return home to Melbourne.

Old rumour, but has coincided with a loss of form.

Very good chance that Zac Williams will be playing for the mob down the road next year. Would be just the kind of player we need.
If he was looking to move then he'd be worth throwing a lot at. Great off HBF and when they were low on numbers and he pushed into the midfield, he was really impressive there too.

Not sure if this has been covered on the forum, but my source is reliable.

The Crows will offer a contract to Jack Graham from Richmond. The contract involves a decent amount of money. He is interested and it's likely to go ahead, unless Richmond offer him more (but that's unlikely).

I think Hately is a curious case. He hasn't played a huge amount of games, but he is a member of probably the most highly drafted midfield room ever assembled, so not breaking into that rotation shouldn't be used as a detractor IMO.

He started off the season last year amassing above 20 touches in his first 2 games, and did really nothing wrong to get dropped. From memory they just had blokes above him on the pecking order come back into the side. His return wasn't until week 15 and he was less impactful. Probably a bit of long season fatigue in the rookie could have contributed. Perhaps was the roll he was asked to play when he returned to the side. I really don't know.

This season he didn't play round 1 or 2, but came in and amassed 21 touches against the dogs and by all reports looked pretty good, but followed it up with a poor output on a wet night against the Pies.

If he was at our club and his stats for his first 2 seasons were the exact same, i'd be completely happy with how he's coming along.

Trading him in, I'm all for it, but I think we need to look to be creative, rather then just throwing a godfather offer at GWS.

they drafted him into that midfield. It’s bollocks to suggest he’s somehow blocked

was meant to be ready to play when drafted

Midfielder in a rotation that includes Kelly, Taranto, Greene, Green, Coniglio, Caldwell, De Boer, Hopper, O'Hallaran, Perryman, Ward, and Whitfield

He's a talented player, but that is a hell of a lot of proved or highly drafted talent to push his way past for opportunity. Plus GWS has to figure out a way to pay all those guys at some point too!

a lot of those guys aren’t mids

If we're trading blokes out or trying to move up the draft order, then I'd hope we prioritise picks in next year's draft. I know we can't always be pushing for future picks, but after listening to Rendell it sounds like next year has better talent, less compromised and potentially has more form exposure (if they get their covid problems sorted). Still plenty of kids to pump games into in the meantime.

He'd be a good recruit but isn't that typical AC thinking to go and chase a fringe player from another club instead of matchwinners. Richmond = Lynch, StK = Hill.
Us last year = Frampton,Keays,Crocker. Year before = Stengle

We find a coach no one wants, We have a bare minimum assistant coach panel, Fitness guru (Hass) that wouldn't get a job anywhere else.

This draft we only need our first 2 picks being pick 1 and Brouch combo. Rest of our picks will be Edwards, Borlase and Newchurch.

Should use our plethora of other picks to get another first next year tied to a middle of the road team like Sydney or better yet, Carlton.
