No, Hately is included in the 36.

We currently have 31 on our senior list. Hately makes 32. 4x ND selections makes 36.
I hope we go with our 5 selections inside the first 35 picks (40 will come in) and Borlase. Rookie Edwards and Newchurch or match if inside what is currently pick 40.

Would be strange if we passed on a 2nd rounder.

based on what we have been able to see to date, Borlace looks like the biggest improver and is absolutely worth a list spot as a developing quality defender. They must be fairly sure Newchurch is a long way back and won't get a bid and likewise Edwards, they would be thinking he is unlikely to attract a lot of interest in this draft with a low number of picks expected to be used
I'd have rather be in a position to match a ND bid on Newchurch / Edwards and not risk him going as a rookie than signing a 32yo to the main list when he is no threat of going anywhere else.

So 5AA say we will match bids on Borlase. But leave Newchurch to the rookie draft. Edwards to go into open draft. Nominations to be completed by next week.

Thats basically my feel as to what will happen.

Newchurch has talent, but what from what he’s put on the board he’s a long way off and a rookie spot makes sense.

Borlase looks a really solid KPD prospect moving forward. With Hartigan gone and Talia in his twilight, takes pressure off the development of McAsey/Butts/Worrell, also gives us options to swing McAsey/Worrell forward.

Edwards has seemed a long shot for a while, doesn’t look a massive loss either at this stage.

Has there been any comment from Drugs Are Bad Mackay? about delisting / trading the blonde rinse boys this year (Knight / Atkins)?

Does he approve of this important list management aspect?
Let it be a lesson to the rest of them!

We'll know when preseason training resumes and the pics appear on the AFC Facebook page if the squad has its mind on the job this year.

FWIW I reckon many are underrating Edwards. Seems a taller clone of his old man, super composed, always has time, good vision, takes tight situations and turns them comfortable, good enough disposal, balanced in terms of hands and feet, ok overhead, low center of gravity for his height. Will be a pity for us to miss him but understand if he goes in the open draft and considering the picks we have and spots available.

From a playing perspective, there should be no reason not to list him.

Then match bids based on where they come, but outside of 23, it should be a no brainer IMO.

No superstar, but a solid McPherson type we get for below market value.

Yeah, I thought he looked like a solid prospect in the youth game that was on a month or so back. Nothing flashy, but looked a very industrious midfielder/half back.

I'm hopeful we do rookie him, but it wouldn't surprise me if he goes in the mid-season draft if he can get midfield time at Glenelg.

You would think we would list him rather than going 1 short on the list with no cap pressure.
