I'd say they would just use Hipwood or even McStay as their 2nd ruck when needed.
Hipwood weighs about 70kg. Would have to be McStay.

Yeah I wouldn’t be surprised if he was a better defender than forward. He’s plateaued as a forward. They’re pretty well stocked for KPDs too. Andrews and Gardiner make a good duo. Will be interesting to see what happens with Payne and Adams.
They’ve got a super tall list, eh.

Payne or Adams would be nice back up if Snake is traded and we need to give Clav some support.

Brisbane have already got a great list. They will be scary good if Daniher can get on the park regularly.
They’ve been so impressive over the last few years. They got their administration right with Swann at the top and followed it up with Noble and Fagan. Then came the Neale/Lyons/McCarthy additions. Development of a few high draft picks (Berry, McCluggage, Bailey, Rayner etc).

There’s quite a few similarities to our last few years. Hopefully we follow a similar pathway. Stable admin with Finnis, followed up with Lethers and Ratten. Influx of trades to propel us up the ladder and some development of high draft picks(King, Coff, Clark, Gresham etc).

Adams can’t seem to get his body right so I’d steer clear of him but I like the idea of Payne. Looks a good size, young and played reasonably well when he got some chances. Wouldn’t cost the farm either.

Hilarious, it's your dumb stance I am laughing at. Calling Hill and Hanners bust is the funniest, most ignorant I have read on here for many a long time. Almost rivals a bloke on SS back in the day saying Jack Steven is the worst player ever to play for St.Kilda [emoji23][emoji23]
It's is ludicrously foolish and ignorant, and the consensus from most on here would suggest just that.

Credibility => window.

I think it's about perspective ...

From a pure onfield perspective, Hannebery has been an injury bust, and Hill, while he's been solid, has underperformed expectations. Of course, the last 2 weeks have also shown us that Hannebery can still be very, very good when he is out there, and Hill can be damaging when things go right.

HOWEVER ... there's more to footy than onfield influence.

Hannabery has been lauded for his off-field work, and I have heard so many people talk about his mentoring, and work with players during his own rehab last season. The growth in our young group has been extremely rapid in the past two seasons - maybe having an old head around setting standards for training/rehab and offering advice is helping. I suspect bringing Jones/Butler/Ryder/Howard has also enhanced this effect, as we have players across all of the positional zones passing on their knowledge and experience.

Hill's onfield impact seems to be growing as our playing style evolves - we're having to learn how to work with a really good overlap player, and certainly the last two games he's had moments where it has worked well - likely the more he trains with the group, the better they'll get at using what he brings - I think his game relies on other players using him well, rather than us expecting him to just show up and magic happens, so hopefully he's been working with the people who need to feed him, and the results are starting to come.

Hopefully we'll see a more normal season next year, and the full benefits of the growth and learning through season 2020, plus another solid trade season, will see us rise a little higher and start a window of consistent contention.

What’s the story with Alex witherden for the lions? I’ve always liked him. I don’t think we should get another defender of course but if we were to move on some of our defenders and not offer another contract I’d be interesting at looking at him. He seems to be out of favour with the lions which I can’t understand.

It’s been a bit of a strange one. I rate him too. They’ve found a bunch of good small/medium backs in a short period of time which has left him in limbo. Traded for Ah Chee and Birchall. Starcevich and Answerth have come on well. I’d be looking for other opportunists if I were him. Would be best 22 at lots of teams. He’s pretty similar to Paton so we’re not a great fit for him but he’d be a really useful member of the back six for a team like Essendon I think.

For their sake, I hope they aren't overpaying him considering his body issues.

In a few years, their young kids will be warranting big pay rises and they would hate to lose someone because they are overpaying Daniher to do rehab.

yeah I think that would be a great fit and I’m pretty sure he’s out of contract. Agree he’s not an ideal fit unless we were to move on some defenders this year but I’ve always taken a bit of interest in him so was curious. But off topic I know lol

He could potentially still be a good fit for us. If Clark moves into the midfield then there’s a vacancy for a small back. I’d love to see Paton take on a more attacking role. Loved it when he looked at the dogs player near him on the weekend and knew he could burn him. Took a bounce and then then distributed. He could play a more aggressive role and Witherden take the more defensive role.

It’s amazing how much the game has changed in the last two decades. Having aggressive defenders and tagging defenders and defensive/tagging forwards - really is bizarre how different the positions on the ground have become.

Anyone else find it interesting blues are set for their best off season in years as soon as SOS left?

Never understood why their fans defend him so passionately.

Club hero... one of the greatest fullbacks of all time... Son of a Legend... Pretty boy... and a bloke that almost drank me under the table at the MCG hotel once or twice... I liked SOS, good bloke for a crazy 19 year old, architect in training, to be hanging out with!!!!!

I get why they defend him... SOS is in there DNA.

But Carlton supporters do make me laugh!!!!

The ship is sinking, and the rats are fleeing.

God I love what Essendon has become.

I know it may be a bit too much too ask but could you all spare a little thought for me living with two Bombers supporters.

The bummer is I didn’t even marry into a Bombers supporting family, two out of four of us actually CHOSE them when we immigrated in 1996. And my only other family support is now living in Perth with his West Coast Eagles supporting family-in-law to be, leaving me all alone supporting the Saints.
(barring most of my friends, thank heavens.)

How in the hell did I manage to luck out like this?? 😳

So the dees are supposedly after smith because tomlinson is of course a potato.
Was the most predictable thing to happen in last year's trade window. This media narrative that Tomlinson and Langdon would be a quality wing duo was against any logic or evidence. Langdon has been quite good, but Tomlinson is such a myth. Very glad he didn't come here ever.
