Hately to crows and saad to blues could impact the available players for us at pick 10?

On SM-A205YN using BigFooty.com mobile app
Unlikely. Id say pick 20 for Hately will get it done for Adelaide, and Carltons pick 7 will probably end up traded to Essendon for Saad. Bombers could have two top 10 picks, it gives them good options I guess.

Dodoro deserves a statue with 10 popped collars if he can get pick 7 for Saad. Uncontracted and worth nothing near that IMO, late first at best

He is contracted so I think they’ll get something close to it. Maybe Blues split 7 like the Saints did to us. Strange move by Blues regardless.

Uncontracted

Reading the Bummers statement it said “not a free agent”which made me assume he was contracted. You’re right though, not contracted but not a FA either. Still means the Blues will need to agree on a trade as the PSD probably won’t work.
Would be an interesting one to watch if I gave a crap about either team.

So with compensation picks and matched bids, our first is looking likely to be around the 12-15 mark. We know about the WA players like O'Driscoll and Carroll, plus the Victorians who may be available like Bruhn and Perkins. But what about the SA mid who's shaping as the biggest draft bolter? If the BigFooty draft was held now, I'd take Brayden Cook for us.

He's a 188cm and 74kg mid/forward from South Adelaide. Not particularly highly regarded coming into the season having only played a handful of games last year, but within the first month of the season he had definitely worked his way into draft contention. And then with every game since, he's pushed himself higher and higher up the order to be firmly in the top 20 mix now.

Generally plays on a wing for South, he has the work rate and athleticism to impact at both ends of the ground. One week he'll push back and intercept mark, the next he'll be marking in the forward half. I'm a firm believer in overhead marking being a strong predictor of success at the top level when it comes to underdeveloped mids/flankers. If you're strong enough and smart enough when you're skinny, it's only going to improve when you fill out. And Cook is currently 3rd in the SANFL U18s for total marks and 1st in contested marks. Add to that he's leading the goal scoring with 24 from 11 games, while averaging 19 disposals. Basically if South Adelaide is trailing in the last quarter, the game plan is move Cook to the goal square and kick it to him - he kicked 4 final quarter goals in one match to get the win after trailing by 30 points in the last.

Strengths are his overhead marking, work rate, mobility and general football smarts. He also had a decent growth spurt over the last 12 months, something a lot of recruiters have always valued highly. He compares pretty favourably with Sam Sturt, and would certainly be an intriguing option on a wing - a more attacking option than we currently have. His kicking has improved over the season, but still has some more work to do particularly finishing in front of goal for one - he would have about as many behinds as goals. His preseason testing was also very average, it'll be interesting to see how he goes at the Combine. I think he plays better than his testing suggests. But his sprint time was well below average, with the rest being about in the middle.

He's the flavour of the month at the moment, but it wouldn't be a surprise to anyone who follows SA football.
I saw the article about him on Sunday mail on August 30th. I was about to ask you your opinion about him.

I follow south Adelaide in the SANFL. I have seen him play. Brayden cook is a bolter in this draft.

I would love to get him with our 1st rounder.

He has grown 7 cm in the last 12-18 months. So he has gone from 181 cm to 188cm.

He will be taken early in this draft

Blues could do a Jack Martin 2.0
Just baulk the whole trade period and the have dodoro throw his toys and walk away.
Blues could just price a heavily front ended contract for Saad, put him out of reach of the teams prior to them.

If blues get Martin and Saad paying nothing at the trade it will be pretty impressive

It should also have serious consequences.

Say, West Coast finishing last next season and Cripps opting to go as a free agent there, Carlton match and Cripps says I'll go into the draft.

Picked at #1, no compensation pick, no trade.

the shit fights will be world class, and there’s at least a months worth of them before the trade period will even start.

If it involves WC coming last, it's not all bad,

Why has O’Driscoll slid? Any ideas??

I wrote the below back last Thursday when I think someone asked whether isn't ODriscoll a lock for Top 10:

Maybe - but I note that both Jordan McArdle and Callum Twomey had him well down their ranks previously and TBH his speed and agility was already "known" - the numbers are not a surprise. Don't be surprised if he is at our pick and we pass for someone else. I think of Jeremy Sharp went Pick 27 last year after playing mainly WAFL seniors and also being a good (arguably even slightly better) size/speed/skills package; again people on BigFooty had him about half of that, but again Twomey didn't rate him either.

I suspect some of what can't be seen in game or what a player does off the field in terms of preparation can easily be what is the difference between being a top 15 pick and a 16-30 pick. Or it might be some of the slight nuances in his decision making - does he bomb the ball a lot under pressure where he could make a more damaging pass?

Having said that, I really liked what I saw out on the field from O'Driscoll, and would definitely have him in the mix; I am just not as sure that he will be an early pick.

Devon Robertson went pick 22, similar storyline.

What would Chapman’s player comparison be ? Seems to get a lot of the ball for a third tall
