Looks to me it till be hard for us to get 2 picks in before Western and Walker without trading out our 2021 second rounder at the very least. We just don’t have the trade currency to do it Otherwise.

I'm just the ideas man, someone else has to work out how to do it.

It does seem like it'd be tough, unless we have someone request a trade. Could look at something like trading #10 to Adelaide for #20 and #21 (one being an end of first round Crouch compo) - hope Jack Carroll lasts, take Shannon Neale and then have #28 as a trade piece. But it would depend on how much we want that first guy.

Our goal should definitely be to have two picks before bids, but with free agency compensation our second will drop another 5 or so spots - I personally find it unlikely Walker doesn't get a bid in the top 30. And Western does have his fans. So I'd be hoping to move our second pick up a bit.
I'm not sure we are going to have 4 list spots available to take 2 before the NGA boys although I like the idea.

Solomon James and Shannon Neale are the two I'm really interested in. Freo have spoken to Neale a lot over the year.
Yeah Neale is the one I want to see today because I haven't seen much of South Freo Colts this year at all. Very athletic (400/800m champion) with massive hands.

Watched this which was interesting (particularly the venue):

I wrote in another thread that I think we need to go in with 4 list spots open - if we intend to match bids for both Walker and Western if/when they come. Only having 3 limits what we can do and the numbers of picks/points we can take in. We could end up in a position where someone like Neale or Cox is available at our second pick, too intriguing to say no to and then miss the NGA player.

Delist Giro and Switkowski if we have to once list numbers are finalised, nobody else is going to draft them before we can re-list them.

Seems like a bit of a character. Who is considered ahead for the draft - him or Lane?

Sandon Page and Heath Chapman playing very well for Black.

Lane did a great run down on Grainger-Barrass. He's the best ruck on the field by a margin.

Lane certainly more impressive today than Neale or Solomon.

Page and Chapman impressive as is Western and DGB.

Van Rooyen best forward for Gold.

Meloncelli looks interesting, just needs a bit more pace.

Think both Van Rooyen and McDonald would look more impressive if playing for Black - just not getting much service from their mids. Gold's midfield is struggling - Trew been really disappointing, I don't rate Young, McPartland trying, Winder ok but not in the same league as Western.

Neale would be a great rookie pick. Got the tools but needs a fair bit of development.

Team Black smashed 'em.

Western best on - don't think it was a coincidence Gold had their best quarter when Western wasn't playing on ball in the 3rd. 2 goals after dominating clearances is a pretty good effort. Going to cost us matching at least a 2nd round bid :(
He is small though. Daniel (I know quite a bit smaller again) went at 46.

He'l only be rated really highly if they think he can play mid at AFL level.

Unfortunately Shai Bolton tearing it up at a similar size isn't helping our cause. Nor is him kicking two goals and should have kicked 3 - showing he can play as a small forward. I think his size keeps him out of the first round bids (crosses fingers) but we'll be getting a bargain if it is later than 2nd round.

edit - the one thing more than his size that I count against Western is his defensive work rate. He's not bad, he could just be a lot better especially given his speed.

What about Chris? How did he look?

I noticed Joel's defensive side has dropped off a bit from any footage I have seen of his recently. I didn't feel that was the case in earlier footage. He often used to chase down and tackle.
