Neale would cost us 2023 first round pick plus change next year.
Might be worth it, if it was just a 2023 first round pick.
In saying that, Neale in 2023 will be 30 years old.

He left and we have moved on.
If Neale is FA at the end of 2023 (age-30) then sure we can offer a contract. Not interested in trading a 1st and 2nd round pick for him next year, which is what Brisbane will ask for.
Like IP I’m a fan of the two Vic Rookie list selections for 2020 (Treacy) and 2021 (Worner). With border closures Worner (and the Irish fella) won’t come over until early in the new year to serve the 14-days. Celebrate the new year and fly over and be available to start training around 16/01. Both are development players, which is what the rookie list is for. We have made a rort of the rookie list otherwise to be honest with Schultz, Banfield, Crowden and Blakely.

That's my point, he'd approve of the the way we've moved on, it's what he wanted when he was with us. He's a top class player so no one in their right mind would not consider adding him to their team.

Unless they change the rules he isn’t a free agent until he’s been at Brisbane (or Freo) for eight years. He spent seven at Freo.
Various changes to free agency which would make Neale a free agent in 2023 have been rumoured for years but have never come to anything.
Neale will have played 220 odd AFL games by the end of next season and be 30 years old in 2023.
theres no way you pay anything more than pick 20 for that. Would be doing well to get 40 good games out of him from the end of next season onwards

Don’t want Neale at any price.
I believe because they upgraded 2 rookies, giving them the 3 "new" players on the senior list.
Sorry to intrude (again), just on the hypothetical Neale trade discussion. We wouldn’t want a 2022 first round pick. More likely a 2023 first round pick pick, plus a 2022 second round pick, with a 2023 second round pick going back your way.

Unfortunately the Brisbane midfielders, including Neale, don't get defensive enough.
We have one who does, but he doesn’t get enough run through the midfield yet. But yes, Neale isn’t a noted defensive runner.

Honestly, you will want more than he's worth. The only way I see him coming back is if Brissy let him go on the cheap.
He's just not what we need.
Neale is more valuable at Brisbane than Fremantle.
Fremantle doesn't have a 2022 second round pick.
What you are suggesting is fair but a lot of us don't want Neale.
He left the club because he wanted to be out of shadow of Fyfe, more money and run away from a rebuild.
When it suits him, he wants to come back.
None of it say a selfless leader.
Serong is really developing as a strong leader and plays in a similar role.

We don't have the second and we also won't pay it as he is worth more to Brissy than us so it won't matter but if all things were equal then thats a fair trade.
