Haha and Horne was a half forward at U16's

Did he actually play there - or is that just how they placed the AA team? I don’t know.

But yes more comfortable seeing a kid Doing it that way

Have to say I'd be a bit deflated if we took him at pick 4 with what else is going to still on the table, that's not that he's not a great prospect just I'm not sure he's what we need at this point in a rebuild...but I guess in Hamish we trust.
Look I wouldn’t be deflated, but I wouldn’t be completely bullish either. He’d be in a similar category to the likes of Johnson and Draper, to me

He provides X Factor (which we really need), but I don’t know if his player type is exactly what we should be looking for at pick 4 (or 6 I guess)

Think it's more a timing issue ....wait another year and that's another year's development required .....just push's out our timeline to be finals competing

Next year's Draft won't be as strong on a variety of Mids ...and that's still our primary need
I don’t think we will trade this years picks into next round (at least not early picks) however, I still think there is a chance that we trade back from 4 for say Richmond’s 2 picks inside top 15. It may only happen if a certain player is not there at 4 and we can get Wanganeen-Milera and another big, balanced midfielder.

Preference of course is to stay at 4 and get the player we hope slides to us.

Suggestions today that RICH and WB are negotiating on WB's pick 17 ....they're still looking for Darcy points

That'll give RICH , #7, #15, #17 plus .....so RICH may look to bundle up for a pick, but my theory is, they'll probably look at GC's #3 .....they'd be chasing Callaghan hard

More chance that deal happens, than us successfully grabbing #3 ......and I doubt we'll go back in the Draft from #4

But I'm also sure, The Crows would want to keep a low 2nd round pick ......but how ?

We’ve got talls popping out of our backside so he is not a need but I like him a lot and would NOT be disappointed if we pick him. Wouldn’t be surprised if he goes top 3
Totally agree ....I'd grab Andrew

The only knock is his weight .....no-one has knocked any aspect of his game ....cat like is an apt description, I've seen him ruck, and then run out of the centre bouncing with the clearance

I suspect we might be keen on Callaghan as well.

On your last point, I think you are right! I would not be surprised if we looked to trade next years pick for Dawson or bundle up later picks to Dogs or Pies who want points and don’t care if its pick 20 or a combination of picks that would possibly give them more points.

Due to our existing midfield trading down to 7 I don't think makes much difference. Even if Mac and Gibcus weren't taken we would get a good mid or mid/for.
1. Daicos
2. Darcy
3. JHF
4. Callaghan
5. Erasmus
6. Goater
7. Hobbs
8. Ward
9. Draper
10. Rachele

just trying to think how we can keep an early 2nd rounder after the Dawson trade without compromising pick 4 too much. There seems to be real value in the early 2nd round looking at the draft boards. Playstation trade scenario

Carlton
out Picks 6 & 25, in Cerra and 37

Fremantle
Out Cerra, in pick 4

Crows
Out picks 4 & 37, in 6 & 25

We then trade picks 25 & 43 for Dawson and hit the draft with 6 and 23? + a later pick special

Question here for those draftees watchers on our board .
Would you or think Hamish and co would draft Callaghan if he dropped for us to pick or would the close links and go home factor just be enough to chose one of the other mids listed above .
With my limited knowledge I like the upside of Goater and Erasmus but think hard to not pick Callaghan.

Weren't there reports that Richmond wanted Hobbs?

I actually really like what you've done here - seems very fair all round.

I’d give Sydney next years second. Keep all our early picks this year.

Would prefer 2022 2nd and pick 43 for Dawson.
Gives us 4,23,37. Trade 23 and 37 for a future 2022 1st(around pick 17).

Pick 4 and Dawson from this trade/draft period.

2022 we have pick 6-8ish (probable ladder position) and another 2022 1st. Next year's draft should be stronger with more exposed form from Victoria. Hopefully the team we trade with does worse than expected. Use the better pick in the draft and the later first round on a player trade. This should bring in 4 decent players into the club over 2021-2022 as long as we nail our draft picks.

Rachele is first round quality but you don't take him at pick darn 4! I'd be a bit mad if we did....
Yeah the guys I’d probably be more comfortable taking for us at 4(6) are Erasmus and Goater, maybe Ward too (Hobbs also around that mark, but I probably wouldn’t prefer him for the Crows). IF we were to go with a tall (with which I’d be surprised), I’d be very happy with Amiss or Andrew

Who’d be your preference? Draper/Johnson/Rachele would probably be a tier below those I’ve mentioned, but I still think they all could end up great AFL players. Have quite a bit of faith in roughly the top 15 this year

I think our preference would be 1. Callaghan, 2. Rachele, 3. Amiss/Andrew. Rachele seems a bit of a Zac Bailey type. Apparently has interviewed well. Seems to have a bloody long kick on him looking at his highlights where he kicked a goal from 60 off 3 or 4 steps.

Didn't realise highly promising U16's Rooster Kane Mcaulliffe was a Pt. Augusta lad and plays for my old junior club Central Augusta of many, many moons ago. Up the Blood 'N' Tars. Seems he's an all round all sports star too. Shared the SAAS James Gosse Medal with Jacob Lochowiak too I see
Pt.Augusta starting to produce some decent AFL prospects hey, Connor Rozee, Tariek Newchurch, Isaac Keeler and now Kane Mcauliffe. Also a member of our Crows Academy so we best pencil in 2023.
