The only positive I took away from that game was that I thought it was the best I had ever seen Sauce play. These ratings are consistent with that.
Ultimately will come down to the medical report. The fact we are telling others club that Matt is on the market means we have some doubt his body will stand up. A club with a better list than ours would be more willing to take a risk on a long term deal. Matt won't be part of our next flag so I would prefer us to take Horne or go after a player such as Jacob Hopper for our first pick this year or our future first. Hopper is two years younger than Matt and a much better midfielder. He won't be staying at gws so I hope we are targetting him with the Nicks GWS connection. I would prefer to use our future first on Hopper which is probably around pick 5 or 6 and use this year's first on Horne. Horne and Hopper would be game changing for our midfield.I think that we are seeing things from a similar angle - I just rate Brad when he is in form higher than Matt - but Matt is also a good player and if it is the difference letting him go for a speculative pick or retaining him at 5 years on between $500-$600K, at his age and with what he can do, I'd rather keep him. If we got band 1 (not going to happen), then sure, another 1st rounder would be reasonable recompense
We'd be mad if we didn't put matt and pick 2 (if we finish 17th) on the table for pick 1. You just have to ask the question.Ultimately will come down to the medical report. Matt is an uncontracted RFA come season end why can't people get this? We'd be mad if we didn't put matt and pick 2 (if we finish 17th) on the table for pick 1. You just have to ask the question.
You can still trade him. He's not an unrestricted free agent.Matt is an RFA why can't people get this?
What club is going to trade for him when they can get him for nothing other than cap space? You can still trade him. He's not an unrestricted free agent.
Yeah you can do that but you won't be on good terms for future negotiationsWhat club is going to trade for him when they can get him for nothing other than cap space?
Yeah but North wouldn’t do that they’d just keep pick 1 and target crouch as a free agentYou can still trade him. He's not an unrestricted free agent.
Dangerfield was also traded.
Yeah and when north need help in future trades we'll tell them to go **** off.Yeah but North wouldn’t do that they’d just keep pick 1 and target crouch as a free agent
I think there's a chance we could get Horne at pick 2. North need a key position forward so hopefully they take one at 1. We just need Hawthorn to finish above us if North don't take him. North also have winnable games against Carlton, Richmond at us so they may not end up with pick 1.We'd be mad if we didn't put matt and pick 2 (if we finish 17th) on the table for pick 1. You just have to ask the question.
Because on the coin the Cats were offering we were prepared to match. You can still trade him. He's not an unrestricted free agent.
Dangerfield was also traded.
Matt won't be offered anywhere near 800k a year and yes, this time I would match. Then if matt still wants to go then you have to trade.Because on the coin the Cats were offering we were prepared to match.
Are we prepared to match for Matt?
I don't know, do you?
Sam Darcy is the only key forward in this draft that any club would give up pick 1 for.I think there's a chance we could get Horne at pick 2. North need a key position forward so hopefully they take one at 1. We just need Hawthorn to finish above us.
All well and good if Matt wants to go but the reality is there's never been any indication on his part that that is the case and he is a younger member of the leadership group.Matt won't be offered anywhere near 800k a year and yes, this time I would match. Then if matt still wants to go then you have to trade.
Have you seen an AFL proven commodity go to North?Sam Darcy is the only key forward in this draft that any club would give up pick 1 for.
For pick 1 why would North do that when for that kind of collateral they could trade for an AFL level proven commodity.
At least give Noble some credit for being a stable thinking individual not a fool.
I think the David Noble factor will make a difference there personally, he has everything looking on the up to my eye.Have you seen an AFL proven commodity go to North?
That is a serious issue they have, they can't attract any player of significance even after they offer them massive $$
There is no scenario in this world that North trade for MCrouch.Matt won't be offered anywhere near 800k a year and yes, this time I would match. Then if matt still wants to go then you have to trade.
I would prefer to keep Crouch and unfortunately I can see Noble wanting him and prepared to pay and I get the feeling Matt would be happy to play under him if he had to and they have heaps of cap space.I think the David Noble factor will make a difference there personally, he has everything looking on the up to my eye.
hope horne leaves after 2 years then. even if its to port. better than north getting what they want.I would prefer to keep Crouch and unfortunately I can see Noble wanting him and prepared to pay and I get the feeling Matt would be happy to play under him if he had to and they have heaps of cap space.
He's got Ziebell and Cunnington both turning 31 next year and very little until 23-24 y.o.
They get Matt and take Horne and they're building a decent midfield with Powell, Phillips, LDU, Simpkin
