If James Rowe can get on an AFL surely Westies Bailey Chamberlain is worth an AFL rookie shot, a very natural footballer. Probably gets drafted last year if the Nationals had gone ahead and he'd had the chance to show his wares to recruiters.

Was Worrell that serious in his draft year?

It sounded like there were concerns about him.

And last year barely counts as a development year. It's okay that they're still learning.
Played some bloody serious footy in his draft year, I think you're confusing it with the previous year where he said he'd had mental demons and wasn't quite as switched on to his footy as he could have been.

Wait - I thought we didn't want to win?

Hasn't trying to win in the past been what's made us mediocre?

I'm getting confused with what I should be cheering for.
I'm not in the bottoming out crowd on here. I want us to win every game. If we play for high draft picks our rebuild will take forever.

I remember there being some comments about him being a smartarse and not switched on. He may have said it about himself, or maybe it was post draft rumours.

I can see crows tanking against Hawks. Don’t really see them winning many more. Youngsters have ran out of gas. Will likely finished 17 which means Horne a big chance. Roos may bid on Daicos and West.

He won’t be there for our 2nd pick that’s for sure, unless we get a 2nd too 10 pick. Agreed it’s a big call. Mutineer hits the nail on the head with the kicking and I’d also add decision making to that.

Jason absolutely is a great prospect and will be selected higher, but I’ve a feeling it’s the eye catching stuff rather than the nuts and bolts. I saw some vision recently that was a worry. Looked magnificent stepping 2 players but then ignored the right easy option to hand pass to 1 of either 2 free players - deciding to bomb long to a contest which was cleared easily. Just a little thing.

Roberts isn’t a human highlight reel but he just does everything well. Versatile- inside/outside, covers both ends of the field, damaging kick, good overhead , makes great decisions. I just don’t see many weakness’s to his game. My only criticism of his game that I noticed in a school match was that he hasn’t quite worked out how to shake a good tag.

Big call ? Yes for sure but happy to put it out there and be belted later on ha ha
Who would you compare him to out of all current AFL players?

You obviously mean Darcy but can't see where the Roos bidding on those 2 makes us any closer to getting the player we want if they want the same player....it's elementary the Pies and Dogs match any bids.

Never easy making comparisons. I could maybe boil it down to type. He’s not a Petracca, Martin, Dangerfield, Fyfe type.
He’s more the Merrett, Macrae, Walsh, Oliver type. I hope that makes some sense.

But a very penetrating and accurate kick on top.

I can already pick the SANFL's rookie of the week video player this week, it will be 17 year old tall forward Harry Lemmey

The set shot routine doesn’t inspire a lot of confidence, but his general decision-making and body use were pretty impressive. Set up 2 goals with perfectly weighted disposals.

I've seen a bit of him previously I think it was more nerves than anything if you're talking that kick he shanked and didn't make the trip.

It's time we had a serious look at Josh Worrell at the next level, surely the time is right.
We could have played him off a wing resting Sholl.

He can play anywhere yet we are not playing him which is a disgrace!

no chance of horne at 17th. roos can bid on daicos and west but wont get either. next in line, horne.

But even if they do bid both Collingwood and Dogs will match which means they will likely select Horne next

At least the obsessed Collingwood fan actually went to the trouble of watching some Horne games to critique. Maybe KM could give that a shot too.

Who’d have thought an 18 year old in the team to apply defensive pressure across half forward wouldn’t be leading the team for clearances.
It's pretty astounding.

Roos are bidding on those to wipe them out of the draft. Then it’s who they pick next which is a ?
If the championships don't go ahead that is most likely Horne, if we want Horne the best chance is for the Nationals to go ahead and he's not as dominant as some on here think he'll be where he'll be matched up on other hard nuts like Ben Hobbs etc.

We need to move past Horne, North are bottom and will get top pick.

I'm more interested in who goes pick 2 and 3, Callaghan has come in hard this year, as has Roberts and Hobbs.

Then there's still Rachele and Sonsie.

If we come second last, is Roberts still preferred given his exposed form won't be there?

Which one of these guys can marshall our mids for the next ten years?

This is what worries me. Improvement next year will not come easily. An early draft pick helps but doesn't guarantee success. I dont trust our recruiters.
I don't either but generally you can't mess up pick 1. We need to trade in some experience to progress. Some real moneyball stuff like Keays but with better skill. They are out there. Importantly we need to target players who can kick. Our skills are deplorable.
Also I would target a quality mid like Hopper. We have the money.

North has every chance of winning against carlton and we are a chance to lose every other game. If this happens we finish bottom.

Yes, but every chance they won't beat Carlton, but I think they'll beat us, their clearance work today was excellent, and forwards more so last week was excellent.
