Isn't he just saying nothing about Rankine and Luko because they are contracted and it's against some AFL rule or convention to openly discuss contracted players? He's just playing within the rules. But I expect a lot going on behind the scenes. Every year contracted players get traded!

Who would you think the Crows are chasing by moving up to pick 2 ? I assume you're sold on Callaghan and are hell bent on moving up the order..

Yeh fair assumption... Would suit what Reid said about what the club is looking for. He might get to your choice too if the rumour of GWS preferring Mac Andrew is accurate.

Exactly the same height as Jason Horne-Francis and 3kg heavier at the pre-season measuring.
Around the same height as Travis Boak, Sam Walsh, Josh Kelly, Andrew Gaff, Tom Liberatore, Adam Treloar etc
and already bigger bodied than most of them. Absolute bull.

Reid was straight down the line. Its exactly whats being conveyed to a wider group.
I said we were getting Dawson and I said I they are looking at him playing forward and that it was a done deal and Luko is the target next year.
If Rankine requests a trade and GC agree then they will do it but they wont be selling the farm for him.

While he said best talent vs needs this can be a bit misleading. Its definitely a mid. And I believe a very specific type of mid Callaghan, Erasmus, Goater, Draper types and smaller forward type like Judson Clarke, Murley etc.
To clarify the exact words were if we get the players we want over the next 2 years was said a few months ago and this included draft targets.

Still seems strange. You’d at least touch base earlier in the year, even if you can’t visit the home. Mind you, I know another SA draft prospect has been visited multiple times at his home by Hawthorn during the year.
