That’s what they seem to be suggesting in the articleTrade OUT of next year?
That's an odd thing to suggest. Next year they'll actually be able to see the kids play, instead of guessing.
Do they think their development is somehow permanently stunted because of the covid years?
Don't be too worried about us trading out with what looks to be a bumper crop of SA talent on offer especially the 3 talls Harry Lemmey, Isaac Keeler and Will Verrall, not to mention the exciting mid prospects Kobe Ryan and Adam D'Aloia.Trade OUT of next year?

I have serious doubts we'll even be looking at taking either O'Loughlin or Dudley now that we've given Borlase and Newchurch another year. Both very small by AFL standards, no doubt they have some talent but AFL is a big step up at their size. One for the hard core draft watchers.
There's a bit to play out yet, but it looks like our 3rd (mandatory) draft pick could be a choice between:
I think we have enough AFL quality players that we don't need to be chasing/ keeping fringe players. I'd rather we chased high upside players and put up with some fails (the Keays/ Crocker approach).
- ROC (rookie list) - looks a fringe AFL player at best
- O'Loughlin (late/rookie) - decent skills but we are stacked in defence and looks a Parnell downgrade
- Dudley (rookie) - low floor/ high ceiling (?) small forward, project player but where we have a need
- Whoever is still on the board at our 4th round pick.
I'd be happy to take a punt on Dudley, given how well he has gone through the juniors and he looked zippy and could still find the goals in the recent state game (even while not looking in peak shape).
But, I don't know enough about the draft prospects to know which high upside mids/ small forwards might still be around at our 4th round pick that have better upside than Dudley.
Who might still be out there that late?
(If we don't extend Davis (which I wouldn't), we could do 2 of the above.)

Fingers crossed that Cooper Murley will be a big slider. Was highly rated last year in his bottom aged year, but has had terrible luck with injuries - firstly an ankle down at the Crows on AFL Academy duty and then just as he made his return, broke a collarbone. So of course he’s been right off the radar. One for the hard core draft watchers.

Very, very keen on WWT tall athletic KPF Jordan Lukac with a rookie selection....can pinch hit in ruck as well. With our emphasis likely to be on qlty mids and a small forward which we look haven't solved yet and many names mentioned but I think there will be a need to at least try to get one tall ,with both Frampton and Himmelberg coming out of contract and having to finally show worthy of re signing next year ,I wondered if you Bicks etc is there any Talls like ruck -Fwds or KPP that might be worthy of getting late in draft.
NopeIs there any chance given that we've got Berry and Pedlar already not in our midfield rotation that we trade Pick 4 for someone's first round pick next season?
If that was the play, then why not see if WCE were keen? - they might very well want a player like Erasmus that could be gone by their pick - local lad and the best WA prospect in the draft. Now their pick this year is a mid 1st but next years 1st we would be banking on being a top 5 pick as their list looks like it could be heading south. That way we still get a player maybe like Goater or Draper if we are going the point of difference mid and then have likely 2 very nice early picks next year right at the time certain players at another club are falling off contractIs there any chance given that we've got Berry and Pedlar already not in our midfield rotation that we trade Pick 4 for someone's first round pick next season?
West AdelaideThink it's more a timing issue ....wait another year and that's another year's development required .....just push's out our timeline to be finals competingIs there any chance given that we've got Berry and Pedlar already not in our midfield rotation that we trade Pick 4 for someone's first round pick next season?
Thats a pretty good bit of work. I am pretty sure bulldogs will want about 1700 to 2000 points for pick 17, they'll want to get Darcy and still have some change or another decent pick like a late second or third after. Even if I'm wrong on this, they'll want some higher picks so they don't have to have so many lists spots open, I doubt they want to go 5 or 6 players short. Richmond is best placed given they'll probably be able to give up 26 28 38 and 42 to get the job done. In light of this, there's not much we can offer so I doubt we'd be brought in to the deal.GC are going to blow points on some stupid trade. Happens virtually every year and yet it feels like we come of 2nd best when we deal with them.
Collingwood could trade next years 2nd or 3rd and hoover up all the low picks for points and GC have a lot.
Ideally Collingwood walk Lipinski to PSD screwing the dogs for points.
If Richmond want a specific player at 4 a deal between us them and WB is possible and below is an example which won't happen when Richmond and us consolidate picks and WB gain points.
Crows out 4, 37, 43, 61, 65
In 7, 15, 28
Net gain 300 points
Richmond out 7, 15, 28, 41, 46
In 4, 17, 37
Net loss 600 points
WB out 17
In 41, 43 46, 61, 65
Net gain 300 points
Thanks Bicks. Rachele good very well be our first pick.18.08 mark

15 would be in the Draper/Wanganeen-Milera hitting zone. 7 could be Goater/ErasmusThats a pretty good bit of work. It might be able to help us dislodge 7 and 15 or 17 from Richmond later though, during the draft, I think we'd be open to trading4 down on the night but no way we do it before then. 7 and 15 would be great for us, with 15 being just ahead of ports pick.

Not really seeing it, good player but more a forward than a midfielder at this point. Thanks Bicks. Rachele good very well be our first pick.
He played midfield U16's apparently. Not really seeing it, good player but more a forward than a midfielder at this point.
That would be a bit of a red flag I think. If he’s in the engine room at 16’s what’s happened for him to be pushed out of there by 18’s?He played midfield U16's apparently.
And had the least clearances of all the midfielders in the 2019 U16's All Australian team.He played midfield U16's apparently.
Haha and Horne was a half forward at U16'sThat would be a bit of a red flag I think. If he’s in the engine room at 16’s what’s happened for him to be pushed out of there by 18’s?
Have to say I'd be a bit deflated if we took him at pick 4 with what else is going to still on the table, that's not that he's not a great prospect just I'm not sure he's what we need at this point in a rebuild...but I guess in Hamish we trust.Rachele will be a very exciting player, lots of X Factor. I have no question he’ll eventually be able to effectively split his time between forward line and midfield
That said, he’s somewhat inconsistent at this point in time, and is another shorter player. Is that pick 4 material? Maybe, I’d lean towards no but I wouldn’t be disappointed if we took him
