Connor would never have had a bad word said about him ever until now. Gun junior, started his AFL career brilliantly. Nothing but backslaps for years. Sounds like mum has got used to the adulation
I think as you’d well know by now I’m very against harsh criticism of players, especially young ones. I absolutely don’t like singling out individually. But sometimes players are, for better or worse, put in a position to set a tone.

Young Rozee was in that position early in first quarter. His failure to put his head over the ball and attack it with vigour stood out like the proverbials.

Sometimes individual efforts set the tone - like that pommy bowler 1st ball of an ashes series - 4 wides. That’s going to be hard vision for Rozee to watch back. The measure of him will be how he responds.

I dont have a problem with the crowd booing or voicing their disappointment, however to make it personal or troll players etc online, should never be tolerated.

I agree with you but unfortunately it comes with the territory and probably part of the reason he gets 500k plus a season. Like I said in his case no one would of soaked up the praise more so it goes both ways.

Koch says the only thing that matters is the data.

Ken's winning % is better than any Port coach, this year was their best winning % since 2004.

He's not going anywhere.

They just didn't play like Port Adelaide, apparently.

Someone needs to put Kern's head over Leonardo Dicaprio's in that "I'm not leaving" scene from The Wolf of Wall Street

Everything coming out of Port this morning seems to be nothing to see here, one off, #weareportadelaide.

This is great, nothing will change.

Sounds like they will lose a couple of assistants? Wouldn't be surprised if they go low cost or internal promotions, they've been drinking their own bathwater so much that the best candidate is surely the one already there.

A bit like their head of high performance appointment search just happening to land on the guy that was already there.

Sort of feels like us 5 years ago.

Difference is we eventually saw the light and could afford the hit that comes with basically starting again.

Behind the scenes they'd actually love where they are at, sure they'll fall from top 4 to being a just make the 8 and anything can happen side, they'll get their 60,000 3 game members and be very satisfied.

They'll go into next season as the premiership favourites, at least here in SA and the media will hype them up as usual (they've got deals with Crocmedia and Fiveaa)

Nearly 15 million in debt? They can't afford to be a bottom 4 or even 8 team for any period of time.

More everything imploded on us instead of us seeing the light. A playing group that just downed tools because they had enough of our shit.

Thats good… lets hope they keep looking at it this way and not change.

Kochie is simply papering over the crack..

Now if Kochie actually did the smart thing and instead broke the figures down and provided the winning % against top 4 and top 8 teams since 2004… what would that tell everyone?..

But he wont will he.. because that would expose his arguement, and the figures he’s presenting to back it, as the utter rubbish it is.

The longer Ken, and Kochie, stay in charge of the powa the better.

Good. They are a minimum of 10 years from a flag. Hopefully they go down the Bryce Gibbs path like we did.

The AFL won't be approving $300k to $400k (could be more) expense to sack a coach who just lost a Prelim.

The AFL didn't even them allow them to properly go to the market to get their new CEO. Just promoted the guy in the office next to KT.

With $12m in debt they are probably the club in the worst financial position in the AFL apart from GC.

Voss out of contract and was already one of the highest paid assistants in the league. If he doesn't get the Carlton head gig, expect him to land somewhere where he is likely be able to take over. Already getting Goldscrote on minimum chips to replace him.

Actually, history would suggest that is EXACTLY what they did.

They tried to play their downhill skier game plan, found they couldn't because the opponent was actually decent, and they folded.

Pretty much the Port Adelaide way under Hinkley.

Just watched Kerns presser no wonder Port never hit back he had no idea what went wrong the whole game

I heard Voss this morning and I got the same impression.

I think there were hints for them in the first quarter against Geelong, Carlton and round 23 v the Bulldogs. In those games they could of been kicked out of the game but the other teams couldn't sustain it.

Yeah that was weird, the journos kept asking him what went wrong and he kept saying now wasn’t the time to determine that and they’d have to review it.

But as a coach if you can’t identify problems in the moment then what good are you? He essentially admitted he can’t work out what the problem is until it’s too late.

Reminds me of a story from Roo about Walsh (what could have been…) when being interviewed. They asked him to watch a quarter of the crows and prepare a presentation of what went wrong, what would he do differently, etc.

Walsh said something like - let’s just do it live, that’s how it works in a game, and went in with no prep

You can tell Ken gets frustrated very easily in these press conferences, if the media ever stopped protecting them and he was under pressure and pushed for answers week in week out it would get very interesting.

As it is, they are either performing ok and getting credit as the greatest side off all time, absolute favourite for the premiership, or not going great, but hey it's still good for little old Port Adelaide, look how far they've come since 2012.

Attacking players via Twitter/Social Media is not on.

But at the game as they trudge off, the players should be told how bad they played. That is direct feedback from the people who pay your wages and made the effort to go to the game.

And should be used by the players as motivation to never put themselves in the position where genuine supporters give that feedback.

It's OK people.
vs Hawthorn, they were just one kick away from a Grand Final.
vs Richmond, they were just one kick away from a Grand Final.
vs Bulldogs, they were just 12 kicks away from a Grand Final.

Actually in a Grand Final once upon a time, they were just 20 kicks away from a Premiership.

Has he seen them play in previous years?
That’s exactly how they play. That was 100% Port Power DNA.
He getting them confused with the club that they hijacked all those years ago.

There's feedback and there's abuse. I've seen players spat on, had extremely abusive language hurled at them. That's not on at all.

If it's just fans telling them it's not effin good enough, fair play.
