FAQs & Resources Thread

It has an index at the top with threadmarks so it's easy to find what you're looking for – or easier than scrolling through 250 pages of AFL Rules, Regulations and CBA pdfs anyway.

These sorts of questions are all answered along with a bunch of other resources made by posters from across BigFooty (feel free to add to it!):

We are trying.
As an aside I note you think Kelly isn’t loyal in that thread that keeps on giving.
In what way?
HE has no loyalty to NMFC. He has proven himself loyal to GWS over the journey.

I am just so over this chasing of the next messiah, it is how Carlton looked at Judd, and how did that work out?

I would rather we developed our own talent, and then had players of Kelly's ability approaching the club. Much like how Geelong ended up with Dangerfield.

If Kelly came to North, I would view him much as I view player's like Polec, there for the coin. But players like Cunnington, Tarrant and Ziebull are heart and soul one club players in my mind; loyal to a fault.

Fair enough, though the word is more attachment than loyalty.
Kelly has knocked back multiple massive deals from other clubs to stay loyal to the Giants, think he has proven he isn’t about coin to a point.

Alright well put this in to perspective. If Collingwood played Darcy Moore as a forward still do you think he would be able to kick 25 goals (Harry's goal kicking tally as far this year)? My guess is he would have 30+ but he is more valuable down back. Anyway just putting it out there. Thanks for your feedback although irrelevant. Sometimes we just have to think out of the square.
They did… its what he was drafted as and he sucked at it

I'm not convinced about moving Harry down back. Some of his game play frustrates me when he's playing forward, the biggest one being a lack of competing in the air that he falls into at times (not so this last game, but certainly earlier in the year), which I see as a vulnerability if we move him back.

Well judd took carlton into a finals via essendon falling out and even won one, against richmond that had most of the later dynasty players.

He might not have had the maradona effect on carlton as diego had on napoli, judd did take carlton into a decent couple of years.

Just curious, why hasn't he signed yet?
He's followed the same pattern in previous years, giving it until very late in the season. Seems to me a guy who always examines every aspect very closely, and checks his work before making a decision.

The kinda guy who never walks out of an exam even a minute early - just checks and rechecks until time's up.

The longer it takes, the more likely he is to leave...

tom scully, o'meara, frawly...
Tom Scully was two years into a 4-year contract when a combination of his badly injured ankle and personal circumstances caused him to go to Hawthorn. The other two I wouldn't know, since they're not Giants.

If you're just going to list players who've moved clubs ... well, derr, of course they didn't sign with their original club if they left! And hence you're just trolling ... badly, at that!

Not signing early is not a bad sign for Josh Kelly, but that's not to say he definitely will sign. And all over this board GWS supporters understand the situation, and have debated whether it would be good or bad if he leaves.

Just courious, why hasn't he signed yet?
Last time round he described himself as a procrastinator (or possibly the time before) who always takes way too much time to decide what he has always known he'd end up doing. The waiting with him doesn't concern me. He may leave, they all can, but the delay doesn't mean much.
Last time round his Dad made the joke about how long he took to buy a car, and waiting for Josh to decide anything is painful.

If we are going off the past.

How many times has north offered godfather deals to Josh only for him to sign for less with us?

You guys were competing back then too.

Are you sure he signed out of loyalty or chance at a flag tilt? You did mention that he like to think over everything.

Don't think flag tilt is going to happen anytime soon.

Then there's the cap issue, although not something he has to be conerned with but something the club most certain has to think over.

It would be a tragedy if kelly stayed and players like taranto and hopper get squeezed out. Green is also in for a massive pay hike as he might be the next captain. Collingwood lost 4 decent to superstar players for a de goey....

I love that logic - "look at all these players who left their club. NOT ONE SIGNED A NEW DEAL EARLY!"

Well... yes?

He does, and I’m sure flag tilt was part of it. Definitely loyalty as well considering the offers to go to Melbourne.
If he was only worried about flag tilts, not loyalty, he could of gone to Melbourne and been part of one with other clubs.

Don't think flag tilt is going to happen anytime soon.
We win 3 more and we are playing finals.
North win 3 more and they may be second last.

You do remember who left last year and who they were replaced with. Our cap is fine.

Again our cap is fine.
Green already extended and has another two years to go.
Hopper? Well who knows. Hopefully stays.
Taranto? To be honest if one has to go I’m ok with him.

In saying that prefer to keep them all, dogs showed that it’s possible.

Here’s a question, who is your other account?

Why can't we have a tilt at a flag?
We've bought in more top end talent than anyone over the last few years.
We also will bring in 3 first rounders this year.

every so often I wander over to have a squiz at the most recent couple of pages of Josh Kelly to North thread on the North board - mainly for the lols.

I’m not saying he’s not going, but Eff me, the delusion is strong in that thread.

apparently, a clear indication he’s leaving is that we gave him life membership on Sunday rather than wait until B&F night to announce it.

ummmmm……

every player who has played their 150 got their life membership on the day of the game. None had to wait until the B&F. but obviously in Chook’s case we needed to give it to him ‘early’ because we knew he was leaving.

oh, and an ‘inside source’ has said it’s a done deal, so I suppose that’s that. It’s all over.

but seriously, the thread is worth a read. You can’t possibly keep up with all of it (it’s over 330 pages) but a couple of pages every now an then is always good for a laugh.

When your team has been mentally disintegrated, you can bring in as many high end talent you want, it won't make a difference.

You had your moment in 2016 to 2019, with the 2019 the cloest you can get to a flag but you lost by 100. That was the end of your flag tilt.

To be brutally honest, gws along with geelong were the also ran teams in the richmond era.

Rightio.
Disagree strongly.

you dunce. Every class player who has been offered massive dollars has turned you lot down.

If Josh goes there it’ll be one thing and one thing only. You have offered another godfather offer bigger than anywhere else.

To be brutally honest that is.

Reality is the best form of truth
You're predictions are neither reality or truth. They are simply your best guess of what is going to happen.
A injury riddled season, been away from home for 6 weeks, still in the 8, is hardly a sign of mentally disintegrated.
We've rebuilt on the run bought in the next generation whilst our top tier still has a long time left in the game.
I m.very hopeful over the 8 years of Josh's option we will compete for a flag, they are hard to win, but we'll there abouts over that period.
