Key Off-Season Dates

FAQs & Resources Thread

It has an index at the top with threadmarks so it's easy to find what you're looking for – or easier than scrolling through 250 pages of AFL Rules, Regulations and CBA pdfs anyway.

These sorts of questions are all answered along with a bunch of other resources made by posters from across BigFooty (feel free to add to it!):

Fair to a Victorian team. Some previous stories had 3rd round as fair value.
Having just been completely rolled by the Vic media who kept calling every shite offer the Crows came up with as 'fair' I hear you.

NSW teams will continue to get a raw deal until our voice in the media increases and pursues a NSW view instead of 'copy/paste' articles from Vic media.

Notice how Jon Ralph often blurs the lines of reporting and editorialising? “It’s a fair deal” Who the fu*k are you to determine what is a fair deal. We gave up a 1st round pick and put 2 years of development into him, he’s contracted and was best 22 and a future 2nd to an emerging team is a “…fair deal”?? Go EAD.
This is the bloke that wrote Hopper was being tempted "home" to Victoria earlier in the season. Shocking journo

St Kilda's Long as a utility replacement for Sam Reid?
(Sam Reid never featured in anyone's best 22 over the last 5 years, but racked up a 100 games).

Yeah I really like Ben along. Good bit of mongrel in him and he is super hard!

Similar thoughts, he'd be useful. However, we are pretty stacked with defenders, and since he's contracted until 2022, I would think we would not want to trade anything significant. I know Saints have put him on the market, but they might also not let him go cheaply enough for our purposes.

I'd probably prioritise a small/medium goal-kicking forward over a defender for next year.

I just dont see him as best 22

He was in and out of a st kilda team that couldnt pull it together last year.

Its a solid no from me

Article on zerohanger in which young clearly states they were using Hill to get the Lobb deal done but Giants wanted to keep Bobby

:D

I feel like I deserve more than one like for this effort:

Massively smells like this is Young manoeuvring us into getting something we can then give up for Lobb... :/

Ralph reporting that Essendon is offering a the future second straight up for Bobby, still happy to hold him to his contract

We need the upgrade of 13 to 11, it’s important for us to get the guy we want in that cluster and also as leverage to potentially move up. To me it’s almost more valuable than their future 2nd. But we need both.

I don't mind Luke Breust, he's who I would have targeted instead of Wingard originally ... but not for pick #13. That's way too steep a price for a 31 year old.

We buy too high and sell too low a lot of the time.

Breust is 31, pick 13 for him is way too steep. Remember Deledio….

We should be trying to upgrade that pick to get Rachele in, not bringing in blokes past their best who don’t want to come.

This would be a dick move.

Still plenty of time to trade picks, today is the last chance to trade for players ask all the questions we can now and focus on trading picks the next few weeks
