These sorts of questions are all answered along with a bunch of other resources made by posters from across BigFooty (feel free to add to it!):

Thoughts on JHF from last night? Surely would have laid to rest any thoughts by North to overlook him?
I'm in two minds on how it effects thing at club level, recruiters have watched every game of his since he was 15/16, so I don't think it'd change their view much, if at all, but the last 2-3 games of his have caught so much attention it'd be fun to see North sell any other selection to the fans. In saying that, the other part of me says if it was 50/50 before Callaghan got injured it's hard to not see JHF looking a lot more favourable now

In Jon Ralph's trade Q&A on the Herald Sun website a user asked a question about Tim O'Brien and Jon said that "GWS are looking for key defenders" doesn't have to mean we're in on Tim O'Brien but could mean that we're intrested in Gibcus maybe. Personally wouldn't mind taking a chance on Talia as long as the cost isn't too much he'd fit right in with our injury issues but probably still has a few more good years left in him. He'd be able to start next to Taylor from Day 1, would allow Buckley to play as the third key defender when he's healthy and keep Keefe and Phil as high quality depth options.

This does make a fair bit of sense to me. We need more depth in key talls. We can’t bank on Riccardi or someone to fill the void… too risky. Having Talia for two years (assuming his medical is alright) allows a young kpd to develop.

Plus… is he delisted? Wouldn’t cost anything… although don’t want him is his medical isn’t A-plus.

I'd stick to Riccardi playing as a forward, that's where he's played his best footy in the past and would allow him to settle into one position. Contracts are so murky so I'm not sure how much Talia would cost or how much intrestest is out there, I assume Geelong is keen. As long as it didn't break the bank I think he'd be a pretty perfect fit as a man defender next to Taylor. Injury issues are of course a concern but that would work in out favour when it comes to his contract.

Dear all,
Could you see any trade possibilities between GWS and Geelong.
What for example do you think you would offer for Geelong 2022R1?

ALSO when do memberships go on sale.
My young son wants us to get a Giants membership for 2022 ( so we can go to about 5-6 games in sydney)..

Maybe Pick 13 in a live trade on the night, I'd prefer to hold it until then just so we get the best offers we can, don't think that'd be much of a change in terms of pick number, more just moving it forward.

" Jake Riccardi and Matt Flynn both have two-year deals on the table from the Giants but remain unsigned. Even with the still-pending retirement of Shane Mumford, Flynn faces the prospect of competing with Kieren Briggs and Braydon Preuss for a spot in the senior side next year. Having said that, Briggs is still out of contract too. It’s hard to see both Flynn and Briggs being at the Giants next year. Riccardi has had interest from Carlton and could struggle to get back into the senior side at the Giants as long as Jesse Hogan is fit and firing (albeit not a guarantee). Jeremy Finlayson has completed a medical with Port Adelaide and the Giants won’t fight too hard to keep him given the move is for family reasons. Stephen Coniglio’s future is such an intriguing prospect even though he’s contracted for another five years, but it’s hard to see another team taking him on given the salary and his form/body struggles over the past two years"

Probably paints a bit more of an uncertainty around Riccardi then what we've heard recently, haven't heard much about Flynn at all and nothing in here is really news regarding him. Not sure why it says Brigg's is out of contract when he's still got another year left I believe. Seems like Finlayson could go either way.

Anything is possible but I put the article as an example of the quality of journalism these days

As an example from the same article it says the lions are interested in Mason cox despite not having much if any salary cap room and also list spots with I think most if not all remaining players contracted for next season

I suspect because some people get their info from Footywire - and in this case (and many others), Footywire is incorrect.

And this article from the Giants' media team is the proof. Possibly someone saw the headline 'two more years', and didn't bother to work out that he was only in his first year, hence the timeframe was 2021 & 2022, not 2020 & 2021.

Promising Western Sydney ruckman Kieren Briggs is the latest GIANT to extend his contract with the club, re-signing for another two years. Briggs said he’s enjoying his first year in GIANTS colours and looking forward to his continued development. Already contracted for an initial two years after he was drafted, Briggs has extended through to the end of 2022.

I guess technically the article is correct - there has been no formal confirmation of any of those three players' intentions; but media reporting (wg=hich has been ignored) put Flynn and Riccardi as re-signing and mummy retiring.

I guess we'll see what happens, but it's not hard to see both Flynn and Briggs remain at GWS next year - Preuss has proven this year to be a bit fragile, and I suspect all 3 will harbour a view that thye can become the #1 ruckman for Giants. At least I hope so!

I've seen October been used in communications from the club - just not sure when, whether early or later. We welcome your son (and you?) to the club - hopefully footy will be open to crowds next year.

Hope so! I think Flynn is probably best as a third tall forward and then is like a mega pinch hit ruckmen to give whoever a breather. He looked like a really strong mark and set shot last as he played more forward.

I agree .... Flynn forward with Preuss/Briggs as main ruck .... I think there’s just a lot of lazy reporting when it comes to Gws as media love to paint our list management as a shambles

Yes, I wouldn't mind trying Flynn at centre bounces, then moves into the F50 to play forward. Briggs comes on to ruck around the grounds.

Notwithstanding Zach Sproule's good play in the latter part of season 2021, using Flynn in that manner, plus Hogan as another contested marking forward, then HH (or Zach or ToJ - which is probably why ToJ is expendable) as the roaming KPF gives us as good a set-up as we'll get with who we've got on the list.
