Gotta admit, I like Lyon for Carlton. They leaked goals like nobody's business last year, so Ross' over-emphasis on defense might actually be somewhat relevant and helpful to what the Blues need in order to take the next step

The whole process has been a shambles for them, though. Not saying Teague was hard done by, but it reeks of incompetence to let such a saga play out like that in the media in the first place

Real question for me in the whole Carton debacle (which I have to admit, as person who watched them steal the top SA talent back in the 80s and early 90s, and act like arrogant campaigners the whole time, is quite amusing) is how Brad Lloyd survived.

He has been head of football at that disaster for 3 years...in which time they have recruited Betts (love Eddie, but his time had well and truly passed), McGovern (the KFC franchise in Brunswick is happy with this one), Williams (highest paid half back flanker in history), Saad (an ok player, but pick 8??...could have got Perkins or Cox for that pick...10 year players).

Their draft picks have been equally terrible....their picks from last year played a total of 8 games (given Mirkov was injured, but still...), year before it is 35....

Anyway...just amazing to me that you sack Teague and keep the failing infrastructure around him in place...

I would rather see Port win than Jake Lever and I want to see Essendon's run of days with no Finals wins continue.

For me

Brisbane
Sydney
GWS
Geelong
Port
Dogs
Melbourne
Essendon.

Looking at the trends in the Rising Star and 17 of the 23 Nominees are from Top 8 clubs, interestingly (perhaps unsurprisingly) 17 of the 23 nominations were earned against teams that missed the finals.

The Crows coughed up 5 Nominations followed by Richmond with 4. The Roos, Saints, Bulldogs, Swans and Hawks 2 each and singles against The Lions, Carlton, West Coast and Geelong.

The Rising Star was once dominated by developing teams now it seems to have gone the way of every other award/reward system in the AFL bias towards favouring the teams at the top of the table.

So traumatic he recreated the shot a few years ago and up till now has been living off the fame
Correct.

I dont blame the guy looking for a payday. I mean why not? Its multi million dollar empire. So even if he gets something, its better than nothing I guess.

Interesting this morning in a Luke Sayers interview .....he said he'd phoned Ross Lyon for 45 min last night ....that the new Football Director would run the recruitment process, with he and a couple of other board members involved on the committee

Benny Hill WTF.gif

Why isn't the Fooy Manager, Brad Llloyd running the process ? .....can you imagine John Olsen calling prospective coach's and being centrally involved with other Board Members on a recruitment committee

The CALT Board is usurping the role of the Football Manager & getting involved in football matters it ought not be involved with ......this is central to the problems at Carlton

At COLL it's Graeme Wright running the recruitment process ....the COLL board conspicious by their absence in the process ......one club has got it right, one club has got it wrong

Let the appointed footy managers do their job ....and let non footy people run business affairs of the club

I'd go

Melbourne
Brisbane
GWS
Sydney
Bulldogs
Essendon
Port/Geelong

Lots of unlikeable teams in this final series to be honest

My wife (who is a Port supporter) asked me the other day, "Surely you would be happier with a Port premiership than Dangerfield winning one".

Considering we have been together for 20+ years I would have thought that she would know me better than that !!!!

I'd take Danger and/or Lever winning 5 consecutive flags before I could stomach Port winning one.

Sun going supernova

Port Adelaide

Carlton - has a fantastic community program called Carlton Respects (one of the few things the club does well)

Also Carlton: Considering Ross Lyon as coach (which will pretty much throw all the good work Carlton Respects has done out the window)

As a Melbourne supporter, I'm currently both excited by my team's success to date and incredibly upset by the likelihood that I'll not see them play again this year and possibly miss...you know...the thing I've waited for for over 50 years.

I'm heartbroken. So be it. But this is where I came to ask a small favour.

If you attend the game on Saturday night, can you consider supporting the Demons and giving them an enthusiastic cheer?

Here's 4 reasons to support the Dees these finals:

1. They're not Port Adelaide
2. They have some solid SA kids amongst their ranks; Harrison Petty, Alex Neill-Bullen, Jack Viney and upcoming champ Kasiah Pickett
3. They are coached by legendary Crows double premiership Captain Simon Goodwin
4. The Crows were only one of four teams to beat Melbourne. If Melbourne wins the Cup, you can say that you beat the Premiers.
Haha nope no way I'd ever support Melbourne
