Theoretically (and probably has) she could line up against a 16 year old school girl.

Will there eventually be transgender sporting leagues?

Considering elite sport has already separated the sexes for fairness and/or safety reasons this is the logical answer.

I am guessing transgender people will be waiting a hell of a long time for that to happen though seeing it’s taken this long for an elite women’s comp to start up.

The non-binary folks will need to wait even longer!!

Edit: maybe I am having a senior moment but is there any elite contact sport that males & females compete against each other?

Equestrian, Badminton, Sailing, and when the Tokyo Olympics convene, there will be Mixed Archery, Judo (team event), Shooting, 400m mixed medley swimming, table tennis, and 400m mixed team event.

There probably should be, and it's the ideal solution to this problem. Unfortunately, participant numbers would be way too low for any league to be viable.

there is no direct Male vs Female, it down to weigh divisions

Generally m vs m and f vs f, with winning team the one who wins most of bouts.

I should add that in most martial arts clubs that are mixed, the instructors/sensei/teachers will always have women fight/spar/train against the guys.

However, in competition no.

FYI, Joe Rogan is a very very well respected MMA commentator and I have to admit his knowledge base on an absolute wide variety of subjects is mind boggling.

He is also a Jiu Jitsu and TKD black belt and also Muay Thai.
