Need to draft with our first. This draft is meant to be a bumper crop, however we may be trying to stay ahead of the game with the multitude of midseason draft picks we have stored for 19-20yr olds. Will be interesting to see how it plays out.

Coleman-Jones is out of contract and wouldn't cost a lot.

We can pick up 19 year olds in the TAC cup, but not players turning 18 obviously.

There will be extra 19 year in the comp due to so mamy missingout last year.

Do you mean that TAC Clubs are allowing extra 19 year olds on their list? I always thought there was a hard cap of only a couple.

Yes that is what I mean

There was always a hard cap but due to players missing out on a season last year and many missing the opportunity to get drafted they have allowed clubs to play more 19 year olds.

There seems to be decent wraps on a few of our academy kids this year, so hopefully they can fall into that 2nd-3rd round bracket that we can pick a few up cheap.

St Kilda Next Generation Academy (NGA) and Scotch College prospect Angus McLennan proves his aerial worth at half-back. The defender has terrific footy IQ and reads the play well from behind the ball.

Saints fans will likely also have their eye on fellow NGA product Jack Peris, the son of Olympic champion Nova Peris. He hails from a national athletics background and along with his famous mother, has been mentored by the likes of Ben Long as he grew up alongside a host of famous footballing families in the Northern Territory. Relatively new to the Dragons’ program, Peris will look to provide run-and-carry and tackling pressure along the wing.


Cal Twomey has also said we are impressed with our academy kids Marcus Windhanger (not mentioned in that article) whose coming back from an ACL who is also on Sandy's list as well as Mitch Owens.

McLennan seems to be the one to watch out for but there's 4 potential players late in this draft we could get - if even 2 are draftable, that should help with our lack of picks and with us not drafting many kids lately.

There are a few decent rucks available that missed the draft and plenty of non rucks that look like great gets. I'm looking forward to the midseason draft.

Lane was a surprise inclusion in this year’s WA state academy after managing just one WAFL Colts outing as a top-ager in 2019, but fully repaid the faith with a terrific season for Claremont. He has filled out nicely and is perhaps a touch further along that others on this list given he is a 19-year-old, with his ruck craft and steep rate of improvement key to his overall chances. At 204cm, he has the potential to be an imposing ruck force with his coverage of the ground and follow-up efforts.

Often billed with the ‘brother of Sam‘ tag, Walsh is a much different prospect to his elder sibling. The raw 203cm ruck is competitive at ground level but is working on his running and sustained impact around the ground to better suit the modern game. He has good potential and obviously comes from handy pedigree, so may warrant a shot.

Giants have screwed the pooch bigtime.

The only way we'd potentially still be interested in jelly is if it were a treloar type situation where the giants were prepared to kick in 2-300k x8 for him to play for us.

Only club I see entertaining that contract are the Roos as they are in a spot to front load the hell out of it and keep their high draft pick picks.

I’d have josh Kelly without any hesitation just not at a million a year, he’s exactly what we need.

The question is can we convince him to join the saints on good but not spupid coin and what would we need to give up. I wouldn’t go anywhere near north, he could play the rest of his career and never see another final.
