Bing
Mking
Sharman
Membry

can all be in a Forward line together easily.
Membry was great as a swingman this year and can help back if Sharman stays in good form. Also can play like battle did around the ground.

Sharman can also roll into the ruck and swap with Marshall while a young ruck finds his feet.
Our inside 50 numbers were pretty good this year. If we can keep that up and loose the disposal of ross and dunstan and replace it with boys who can kick…well

Skies the limit
Sharman would be smashed in the ruck. I don’t see how we get king. We certainly won’t next year.

I rekon Stephens from the Swans is gettable. Would be worth a future second special if ever there was one. Chuck in a late pick for McLean as well & get them both down.

I'm all in on Pendles too. Pies would be nuts to let him go but if they do, he's our next midfield coach for sure.

We have a couple of NGA kids this year don't we?

Grab the best mid with our 1st pick, land a couple of NGA options, snipe a Stephens/McLean double, pick 150 for Pendles & then grab a state KPD to sit in reserve.

We are in for another big off season IMO.

Swans seem way too keen to offload a kid that was pick 5 two years ago. I know his draft year he was restricted with groin issues, maybe he's an injury bust? Something smells funny about it.

If Bing wants to come. We take him. It is near insane to say we should say no. Absolutely insane.

I think more saints people watched Gold Coast games to watch Bing than GC have supporters this year.

No its not.

Its insane to say yes, because the current thinking is that if we say "yes we'll take you" we're then obliged to pay 10 first round draft picks or whatever it takes to get the deal done.

Nathan Burke was asked (after today’s game) what St Kilda should do in the off season to improve the list.
In no particular order:
A ruck,
A key defender and,
Trade/delist Hannebery and pump as many games into Byrnes as possible.
Not that he thought Hannebery was past it, more that he would be taking games away from Byrnes. The implication being Byrnes is the future, Hannebery not.

Let’s see if Libba agrees.
Now the Hanners is taking a reduced contract, surely we keep him. Just means he is not a lock to get a game when fit

Both Bing and MKing will be better than those two

Yes but in the AFL there is a salary cap. Having two highly paid marquee forwards at the same age won’t do wonders for the spread of talent through our squad.

I think you could get similar output from a cheaper tall forward set up whilst also having a stronger midfield to get the ball to them.

Wonder if it would be worthwhile bringing in Mayne to be that mature/leadership role while Steelo is developing.

Would not be on top of my list, as a matter of fact he would not even be on the list. He was never a gifted midfielder nor leader, had a good career for sure. Pendlebury or Burgoyne- might as well get the best. BTW I think they recruited Hanners for that role didnt they?

He covered a fair bit of ground today, Ratts had him dipping a toe.
Was at the game today and felt like he didn’t cover that much ground and looked pretty tired at times. He did however just know where to be, and the way he timed his marks was bloody impressive. On a side note.... Membrey works bloody hard.

He would not have the training that Membrey has had or the experience. Natural mark and with good timing and position. Not well built though. Most impressive youngster we have had for a while. Of course, as you know he is still only 1. Sure I have had this convo before......

Or look the other way and trust our coaches and medical staff to get the most out of a previous pick 5.

He was probably training on Thursday nights and getting up to go to uni a couple of months ago.

Something doesn't add up. He could be a massive flog, unprofessional etc. Why would a kid who's hardly played get offered up so easily?

Emotional bull dust reaction.
It would cost no more then two first rnd picks or good senior player and a first rnd pick, this years or next.
Worth every cent
If he wants in, he has a red carpet waiting for him with the number 7 Guernsey ready to go, no chance saints say no.
and we will most definitely sign more members than we lose if Ben is a saint in 2022, regardless of what we give up.

So you think they all got scared after Clark went down ,,,,,,,,, FMD

Not so much scared, as distracted/affected - Please don't misunderstand my intent - I think we've seen in subsequent weeks that they're not scared, and in fact, to a large degree, turned the season around and kept us alive until basically the end of the season.

With hindsight, had Butler and Lonie split their 2 shots each, and gone 1.1 each instead of 0.2, the outcome is likely different, so it's not like we didn't have chances, but it was pretty obvious that the momentum, and on-field vibe was very different after the injury.

So, a few wines in and I'm thinking... a preseason into Sharman. 30/40 goals and a bunch of assists next year.
Bing into that forward line for 2023 doesn't go, let alone Battle.
Sharms signed 2 years didn't he? What's Battle's status? We might have a little bit of currency after all.
If we can somehow upgrade the three amigos (BRD) to another gun mid... maybe not premiership material, but not bad.

Seriously with Frawley retiring would like to see us get a solid/strong KPD to either help out Dougal or be waiting in the wings in case of an injury.
May have found one which would cost only a draft or rookie pick, only 1.94mt but 98kg. played for the Doggies during their strong years so can see why he only reached the one game. Northern Bullants player 23yo Kieran Collins.
Used to work with a relative of his. Never fit the culture at the dogs and wanted out as soon as he got there. Was always on the outer. Humble, quiet kid that never wanted attention.

The point I was making is that clearly we either have a commitment or need one, we can’t sit back and base our recruiting strategy around something that may never happen.

Also I’ve seen too many trades where a club sold the farm for a player only for things to end badly. The obj to the browns type trades rarely deliver, plenty of examples in the nfl and AFL. With Sharman looking like a super find we look to have a potentially great forward line, the kid is quite skilful and a natural footballer.

The bottom line is I doubt the club would miss the opportunity to recruit bing but surely they already know if that’s happening or a just a tease.

You need another category Trade/Keep

Ross, Dunstan and Billings - no club is paying $1.5M a year for three "depth" players. If they aren't starting 22, they are Acres.

If they are starting 22, will they be starting 22 the following year?
