Means he got a reality check like Billings. No currency.

So out of Battle and Long to get us a better draft hand.

No-one has any cap space, they timed their movement badly. Players that held off signing big contracts really ****ed it as well.

Honestly everyone thinks that finals are inevitable next year on here. Our best chance of that happening is to have solid core that we can add some kids too. Seb and Billings staying might not excite anyone but it might be the best thing for our chances.

Hill early in the season (in defence) had a bit of the panicking "deer/rabbit in the headlights" thing going on, managing needless, embarrassing and stupid turnovers often resulting in opposition goals - to be fair this did improve in second half of season from memory.
Pulling out of contests was what concerned me the most. I know there was a game where he pretty much lost it for us on the back of a couple of poor turnovers. Can’t recall which game though (maybe vs Port?). But not going when it was his turn was the biggest problem. Not saying he needs to be Jack Steele.

Hawks had plenty of those plain, neat skilled beige types in their premiership sides. It's not an impediment to a career, he's just disappointing because he was a pick 3. Take him at pick 30 or trade him in he'd be a fan favourite. He's better than a lot of the recent trade ins and you'd think they were superstars the way we talk them up.
yep there's definitely a spot for that type player but the issue with our list is that currently we have too many that are competing for that role. Right now Byrnes is that 15-20 disposal medium impact player except his pace makes him look a little more exciting. Bytel until he lifts is capable of the same medium impact. Ross and Billings too.

That too - agree.

If they get cerra, the mids will be Walsh, Cerra and Cripps. Also got Hewett. So they are trading in.
But when Walsh's contract ends next year and McKay ends 2023, How are they going to afford to keep both those guys and continue to pay Cerra, Saad, Williams, McGovern and the rest their over inflated contracts. I don't see Carlton being good enough to win the premiership next year so they are fudged.
Sure that Midfield looks good but they're robbing Peter to pay Paul but Paul aren't that good of a footballer and Peter wants to be paid.

Just seems like there is want to find every reason possible to justify why Gresh shouldn't play midfield despite his performances suggesting otherwise. Especially when we have a glaring hole in there for someone with his attributes.

He is far too talented to be sitting in a forward pocket. And if that is the plan for him, we might as well trade him because we wouldn't be using him to his fullest potential.

He's a terrible kick when he plays mids. Match winner forward.

Not Saints related, but from Jon Ralph.

Cats early trade request for Jordan Clark was pick 8. Fair to say that was considered overs by Dockers. Their offer was pick 27. Freo need to find a pick in between. Lots of common ground but Clark is contracted.

Didn’t Bell demand pick 2 for Weller? This is gonna be interesting!

Geez, 27 seems spot on.

Weller was at least a best 22 player for Freo - had played every game the previous 2 seasons. And he recognised how desperate Gold Coast were for someone who wanted to go there.

Clark cant get a game for them yet they are asking for a top 10 pick.

True but it looks really messy and isn't a good thing no matter how people try to spin it. We've done a lot to build a more professional image and test things are a step backwards. Playing out a bust up in the media is not ideal.
I've been a fan of Dunny for a long time but I feel that this was always going to be the way things ended. As a StKilda player he wore his heart on his sleeve and it's no surprise he feels a bit victimized, but that doesn't mean the club handled it poorly.
It's worth remembering that he was to be traded to Adelaide this time last year, then duly notified he was back of the queue before the season got started. Despite his run of form which was timely for the team he didn't demonstrate and growth aside from a productive 6 weeks and his inclusion had negative effects on other areas that are hard for us to quantify from the outside.
I remember Bleach spoke about how hard it was to go from the leadership group to delisted in 2 years, but he was far more philosophical about it than Spook has been able to muster.

You like the rest of us wanted a more ruthless edge to the club and we've got it. This comes with the territory. You can't keep everyone happy all the time unfortunately.
At 26yo Spook has had 8 years in the system and made at least 3 million bucks for his trouble. He wasn't able to adjust to life as a fringe player and got pissy with the situation and left. That's life.

He had a good month or so of footy. Apart from that period he had a poor year. I find it difficult to believe anyone would actually think he was in our best 5 players for the year. I guess the club did so must be fact!
The fact is he was 5th in the B&F, if he deserved it is open to opinion. To be frank I was surprised.

Tom Mitchell for pick 9 anybody??

Fair trade for mine [emoji1303]

To take the question at face value:

You don't get Crouch in and then add Mitchell 12 months later. Crouch addressed that need, and Mitchell is overrated.

Take pick 9 to the draft and get the best available mid, with the possible chance of reaching 5-6 picks on your draft board for a big bodied mid (not Martin or Ross big bodied but more like Cripps or Bont) who may develop a little later.

See how many of the academy kids you can get for under value. Adding a draft pick for this purpose would be nice, but would probably cost Long.

Sign Talia or Hartley as a DFA for KPP depth.

Re-sign Kent, Hunter and Joyce, delist Lonie.
All of that with the exception of Hunter. It’s disheartening watch that that level of player in our team.
