Sounds like we need a new thread where we create an in depth analysis of the best draftees compared to the clubs with the picks just to figure out the likelihood of loosing him. Idk whether to lose my sh*t yet or not 🤣
The one good thing at this stage is that most of those picks are interstate clubs. You'd think they'd be less likely to take him but who knows.

Common sense would be that an AFL official would step in & modify that rule to state that any team that hasn’t previously had a ‘high’ rated NGA player may be able to match any bidding…. It’s such a bloody farce

Swans & Giants netting Heeney, Mills, Blakey, Hopper, Green. Pies with Quaynor, North with Thomas, Dogs with JUH

But no, we can’t match a bid on a guy who might go 15-20??? Get absolutely ****ed 🤬

I'm pretty sure the northern clubs can still take their academy kids inside the top 20, it's just the next generation academy that has changed the rule.

Hopefully Owens and Windhanger tank their testing.

In all seriousness, it would be a huge call for Owens to be taking a inside 20.

He was originally not picked for that Country v Metro game and got the late call up.

Was very good but mostly played off the flanks and wing.
Would be a huge call to select him off one game. Sounds a bit like news filler

If he goes at pick 20 can we match?

What about picks which are pushed back because of FS selections? So that mean that really pick 18 becomes 20, and thus we can get him at pick 20 (18)?.

19 is GC.
18 is Brisbane.
17 is Doggies.
16 is Port Adelaide.
15 is Richmond.

For a second I was a worried the Dogs would take our NGA after ****ing the system up last year but then I realised they get a father son this year they need to pay for with picks - what an easy ride for them, bastards 🥲

He was quite good for Sandringham leading up to that game.

But obviously not quite good enough to demand a spot in the original metro side.

I think it's his size and athletic attributes that would really excite recruiters though.

Could be a bolter let’s hope the other clubs go conservative

If he goes 20 we cant match, but the two FS selections will knock those picks back.

So I'd think the danger is Dogs at 19 or Rich at 17, if the picks stay the same (although do Dogs have to give up 19 to match Darcy?)

Dogs will no doubt trade that pick.

I think we'll even target their pick if we can get enough to trade up.

I’d keep an eye on Richmond. What they do with pick 7 and their other first rounder may directly impact our drafting this year. Hopefully they go for some talls after losing CCJ and Chol

That is 100% how it was told to me. This client of mine sat face to face with me & that is exactly how it was expressed.

Why would I bother making that up!?
I'm not saying you made it up, but do you realise if someone tells you something it's not necessarily true? The story is clearly bullshit.

FWIW, I was told Dawson would leave Sydney back at the end of July due the gulf between what they could pay him & what he’s actually worth

Same Swans guy who told me that when the Saints enquired about Hannebery mid 2018, the entire room of Swans footy dept cheered & burst out laughing - couldn’t believe their luck & couldn’t pack his bags for him fast enough

I couldn’t give a fu** if people don’t believe info that gets passed on, but people getting their panties in a twist if things don’t happen need to get a grip & reassess their life if they’re getting that worked up about ‘Footy trade whispers’👍🏼

sadly happens alot on here. i had some mail on Ben King i said it in PM. this info is SOLID! this isn't heard it through a mate's cousin type scenario.

so after Caro goes public with it, i say it in here. response i get "we will need something stronger than third hand hear say".

i mean christ all ****ing mighty. caro literally said it on national TV.

Biggest threat is Richmond. Those campaigners love taking other clubs NGAs and they also have so many top end picks this year they can throw a few. He’s also the tall midfielder they’re currently lacking with their main brigade being old or quite short.

didn't Freo get one too? GC surely had one?

that's a third of the comp. then they're going to turn around and say "sorry the other two thirds, you don't get the same advantage"

what kind of ****in horse shit is that.

half of them were to ****ing finals sides in Collingwood/GWS/Dogs!!!!!!!!

the AFL seriously are a backwards bunch at times.

We want a midfielder from them at 7 then their later first round on a tall. If they go tall first Owens is a chance to get sniped

Oliver would be inspiring a bunch of clubs unfortunately

Really good after too. He said that that match gave him the confidence to really let loose.

Considering who this guy is, I believe it 100% fact. Sure, the description of the ‘reaction’ may not be what really happened, even tho that’s spot on how he told me, but that it’s not really the point of what I’m saying. Who gives a **** how the reaction was described 😂

The real point is they were absolutely stoked to get him, his broken body & $3mil off their books & out of their club

As I also said, which seems to be missed, the same guy also told me back in July they wouldn’t be able to afford to keep Dawson
