We don't need to dismiss every rumour as bullshit, people don't need announcements to let them know it's bullshit, most of us understand what to believe and what not to believe. And believe it or not, some people here get given legitimate information. If we keep potting posters for posting what they may have been told, true or not, we will have the legitimate posters leave and the bullshit people complain about will fill this thread.

Does it actually matter if it's bullshit or not? What effect does it have on you personally? You can choose to believe something or not. This is how the trades thread have worked. Every single year.

Are the clubs that like him in that range though?

Correct. Assuming the pick range is 16-20 those clubs (after bids for Daicos and Darcy are matched) are Brisbane Lions, Richmond, Port Adelaide, Western Bulldogs (whoever trades their pick) and Brisbane Lions.

No danger that Beveridge discusses this further.

Thank god Dogs have too many mids. Brisbane are fine with young mids. Port and Richmond are dangerous especially richmond with their midfield being old and short

Moving on, I'm hearing whispers that we are packaging Dunstan & Long for Ollie Wines. Dunstan is a SA boy and the grunt provided from both will make up for the loss of Wines. Hearing many at Port are not happy with his Brownlow speech slagging the club off for not wanting to play for them when they drafted him. Been a bit of bad blood boiling away for a while and it's come to a head. Make of it what you will.

8AM – SAINTS CONFIDENT OF LURING SUNS STAR

Three-time Coleman medallist Matthew Lloyd has revealed that St Kilda are confident of landing Suns star forward Ben King, also naming as Essendon as a potential suitor.

King, who booted a career-high 47 goals in 2021, comes out of contract at the end of next season, with several Victorian clubs set to target the 21-year old.

But after locking away his twin brother Max until 2026, the Saints are reportedly optimistic of uniting the pair, who were both taken in the top six picks of the 2018 National Draft.

“St Kilda think they’ve got him. The talk in Melbourne is that they feel like they’ve had him and will get Ben King,

Is this this year or next year mate? I haven't been following this at all, would do my head in.

Would a King, Owens, Windhager draft haul be one of the best ever for the club? Trade everything we have for king and just ask for junk picks back so we can get Owens and Windhager. 2 mids and a generational forward

I'd rather we get Owens then miss out. I'd be looking to trade pick 9 for a couple picks in the 15-25 range. Play it safe imo. From what ive seen Owens will be a jet, and with a first name as Mitchito, he's bound to be loved by the commentators.

If the club wants to do this then the picks need to be no later than pick 18 because bids for Daicos and Darcy will be matched.

Pick 18 will become pick 20. Saints can match any bid from pick 21.

I would be targeting Brisbane’s picks if we decide to go down this path. But our football department will have good intel about what other clubs might be doing.

No one would know for 5-10 years.

Owens and Windhager are still speculative draft picks who have played little football for the past 2 seasons whether they are in our academy or not. They are rated anywhere from the late first rounder to third round. They might be great, they might fizzle out and be nothing like a lot of draftees who are rated pre draft.

The fact that they’re rated at all near the first round means we’re getting good value for them as second to first round picks

To me he looks like he's being pushed to play a role when he looks best playing with freedom. A guy we know is a financial sponsor at the Dogs through his family business. He gets to the club a lot and reckons Bevo is a gun coach because he tries to get players to find their flair. He encourages the players to do things that make the footy they play free and fun. Long looks like the type that needs that kind of environment. He looks bored and restrained. When he used to go for screamers and tackle like a maniac or snap impossible shots he was glorious. He looks straight jacketed.
If he wants to make is an AFL regular the one thing that he could immediately do to improve himself is go and practice his set shot kicking. 2 goals 9 for the season and I wouldn't be surprised if those 9 misses were all under 40 metres out on a slight angle.
He'd be much more dangerous as a small defensive forward if he could kick a goal or two regularly to make an opposition running defender more accountable.

There is an AFL footballer in there physically and talent wise. Will he ever get there mentally with us? Which I guess is what you're saying about the environment, Gringo...our team does come across as a little too uptight and serious at times.

Because there is nothing to talk about. So they mention Ben King and they now suddenly have something for people to call up about.
Lol, the trade radio and amateur AFL coverage of the trade period is so dull
