I think you'll find that HQ want Gold Coast to win a flag more than they want us to

This might be true. But two things

1) HQ can’t prevent a player changing club if they choose to. They can bring in rules to give them more money out of the cap but if they aren’t driven by money it doesn’t matter.

2) I can’t see us rolling over and letting HQ tell us that we can’t trade for Bing. Maybe the previous administration might’ve toed the line. But Lethers is a ruthless bull.

Ben King thing is simple for mine.

If he and Max were both ruck-forwards or forward-rucks then it would be an absolute no-brainer.

Because they're not, we shouldn't do it.

We'd have to have two other 200cm guys in the side playing first and second ruck, and adding them all up it just wouldn't work.
Marshall can ruck 90% of a game by himself. One of the Kings would be capable of running around and occasionally tapping the ball for a few minutes a quarter.

My point is that Ben King is not a sh*t player and using Clarke and Winmar as examples of how "brothers don't work" whatever that means, is silly. Where's the talk about the Wakelin's?
I reckon the right reply there was:

“My bad, Raph was pick 8…”

Then,

“My point is that Ben King is not a sh*t player and using Clarke and Winmar as examples of how "brothers don't work" whatever that means, is silly. Where's the talk about the Wakelin's?”

None.

But it means naught if you have no one to kick it to them.

I don’t care how shit your team is. AFL is a game of momentum and every side has ebbs and flows during a game. Put aside the point that I actually rate the future of our mids and that we can develop even if we get Bing, regardless, if we become more efficient by having a killer forward line that’ll only help. Now throw in a component midfield which this team ALREADY has but is sure to improve and a really solid backline and your off to the races.

What mid are you going for if we don’t get Bing? Are they more impactful then having an unstoppable forward line? Keep in mind, having both Kings is sure to attract players as well, who wouldn’t be enticed by kicking it to them all day long?

The club, these days, isn’t stupid. I don’t believe they would chase Bing if they didn’t have a wholistic team plan. Another good sign is that, do you honestly think that the 17 other clubs wouldn’t kill for two kings? Idk, at this point I back the club, if they stop chasing Bing that’s all good for me - I trust their judgment. But if they keep chasing him and actually manage to land him, well buckle up.

It would be a no brainer if we didn’t have years to debate over it.

Are we really going to bother discussing semantics. Yes, my bad. It's besides the point of what I was saying. No surprise at who liked the post either lol. Can't leave me alone.

I reckon what you probably should've done is understood what I was saying and not focused on irrelevant details.

Unless we get massive unders for Bing (which we won't) I don't see why we need him. When will St Kilda realise that the feel-good story of a family connection does not automatically translate into on-field success? (Raph Clarke, Nicholas Winmar, etc, etc)

You can't clone Max King and you don't want to. It's a lazy way to recruit, IMO.
Max King IS cloned. Its not just a 'family connection' FFS King B is an exceptional player.
Unbelievable [emoji849][emoji849]

Im gonna have to request you run all posts by me first champ, need to ensure I’m happy with them.
Actually feeling personally attacked if I’m honest.

The obvious difference here is that Ben is a proven gun.

King, King and Marshall would be the envy if any club.

We just have to make sure we do well in the draft this year.

It looks like we are going to end up with a pretty good hand and may end up taking 3 to 4 players with potential to play midfield, wing or flank.

If the draft works well it 100% makes sense to go after Ben.

GC rule them selves out of trading for Dunstan and were even very cold on taking him as a rookie, said they'd need to look at it after the trade and draft period
Heard today GC need to dump 4 contracted players to fit the 3 mandatory and Chol. Interesting times @ Fold Coast

Will it be approved if I argue semantics and miss points completely? It's edgy and rebellious to nitpick the mods comments. I should wear sunglasses next time I do it.

I don't doubt for a second that Bing can play. It's just that we shouldn't pay overs for him, just because he's Max's brother. How many 200cm+ players can you fit into a fwd line anyway?
Bing woukd just take Ryders spot in the 22 so no different to how we are.

Melbourne just won a flag with 3 of them

Brown - Ming
Jackson - Bing
Gawn - Marshall

As long as Bing is happy to pinch hit in the ruck, I think he'd cause some real headaches with his mobility around the ground.

that would explain their stance on dunstan and the discussions that essendon seem more interested in him

Yeah the OP was off the mark.

Ironically we didn’t draft Jack Riewoldt because some thought it would be just because of the name.
