If we ant a big body in the midfield why not try someone like Mc Stay.I know it sounds weird but we played JB as a midfielder one season with great success before osteitis pubis ruined his season. Short bursts , carve a few pathways.

Don't think he'd be worth the money or the trade if hes not going to be best 22
Nothing like a bit of healthy competition for Oscar though.
He doesn’t have that at the moment, until someone like Lane develops.

It’s interesting how much Levi is in the media lately, to keep the conversation around him I suppose.
there must be some strong interest though- but with a family of 3 kids and a wife I’m sure they are keen to sort out their future living and working arrangements sooner than later.

We are already short on tall forwards with Hipwood out. Can’t sacrifice McStay.

Not a fan of Casboult (because of injury rumours and anti-vaxxer wife) or Cox because he's too similar to Oscar not mobile enough or good enough in the ruck.

Fort is a bit older than I would've like but probably has similar ability to Fullarton as a forward but is a much better ruck.

Oscar/Fort would be a decent ruck combination until Hippy is fit.
People crack me up..... Anti vaxxer wife hey. I guess that's it then. Can't have that anywhere near the club. I wonder if we should interview the entire playing group, families and staff, and if anyone admits to that heinous crime we expose them and sack them on the spot.

Just for the record I get my second jab tomorrow.

The anti Vax thing is a genuine worry. It brings some pretty bad PR to the club. No point adding more fuel to the fire if we can avoid it.

For some people (especially those with young families) it’s a legitimate concern.

Will be interesting to see what the leagues formal stance is, once they announce it.

Would absolutely guarantee there would be people attached to the club already with those beliefs.

No point adding more fuel to the fire if we can avoid it

Bit tough to extend it to families but I wouldn't let anyone into the club who isn't fully vaccinated. Especially if you can't fly without being vaccinated

The NBA is seeing some interesting times at the moment regarding vaccinations. It's not mandated (like it's thought the AFL won't) but there are significant incentives to get vaccinated (or more so disadvantages to not being vaccinated).

I think most workplaces will introduce something similar. The issue will be in Australia with travelling next year might not be possible without being vaccinated.

Probably won't be able to attend games unless you're vaccinated

Bit of rumours about Max Lynch, 200cm Collingwood yet to be given a contract offer. Hard for him to get a regular spot at the Pies with Grundy, Darcy Cameron and Mason Cox in front of him. Watched his debut against us last year and thought he rucked well. Showed a bit this year against Melbourne, Grundy was sidelined with a neck injury. Took his opportunity and rucked and position well, beating Gawn's with 23 hit-outs to 20...

Not sure how you could guarantee that? About 2-3% of the population (a lot of polling is done on this) is actually anti vax rather than hesitant. More highly represented in certain populations. A professional sporting team that gets told a lot about medicine / sports science, and with players getting jabs for all kind of things, would be less likely to be anti vax. And the afl is about to announce a vaccine policy from the sounds of things that could limit what players can do.

The truth is it creates division. If it's his wife she will no doubt socialise with players partners. Some may agree with her but most won't. They will discuss this with the players. These views will become a debatable topic and before you know it the focus is not on football but outside issues. Steer well clear.

Isn’t a meniscus normally 12 or so weeks? Would it not be well and truely healed in 12 months or that too simplistic?
You would have to ask an orthopod. I don’t know how the meniscus and ligaments interact.

Also depends if it was a minor tear or required surgery itself.

I don't pretend to know what Eric's prognosis is either but from people in the medical profession I've spoken to his particular ACL tear was on the information available a significant one.

I don't want him back until he's made a full recovery. I doubt we'll be pushing him. But if the team's going well and we're in contention again it's good for his morale and devotion to his rehab program that there's hope there for next year if things go well. It's a tough grind for an otherwise fit young man.

I’ll be surprised if we see Hipwood at all next season.
Hippy is well ahead with his rehab program......he will be back in 2022 guaranteed. Don't understand why you or anyone else would be surprised given almost every acl injury similar to Hippy's takes no more than 12 months. Where do you get your intel from to make that comment?

Well 2-3% of Lions players, coaching staff, admin staff, parents, siblings, wives, girlfriends, husbands and boyfriends would be a considerable amount. Also, I'm not sure being attached to a sporting team makes you less likely to be anti vax.

Anyway I will leave it there. The mandatory Vax thing will be quite interesting I think. I doubt any of the players refuse tbh, I just think some would be fielding some pretty strong opinions from those close to them, as are many people in our community.

Having a job where you would be severely impacted by not being vaccinated would make you far less likely to be anti-vax
