We absolutely have the means to trade for Bolton without losing Cerra.Should we prepare a 'it's coming home' meme song similar to the English world cup one? But in all seriousness he ain't coming because we do not have the trade capital to get him here without losing Cerra. Bolton is the better player as of now but I still prefer Cerra.
So we would receive pick 15 and 16 to use on the talls from your guess? What I mean by saying we don't have the means to get Bolton is that our club desperately needs a key forward and we will need to use our first rounder to get one.We absolutely have the means to trade for Bolton without losing Cerra.
We have two first round picks at our disposal. We also have the Carlton Martin method. Whether Bolton stipulating he will be based in WA gets him to pick #8 in the PSD instead of pick #3 in the PSD that Carlton had - don't expect so.
What we don't have the ability to do is draft the WA talls in this draft, get Bolton, keep our draft hand intact for next season and keep all our existing players.
There might be something like our first this year and next for Bolton and both Richmond's first round picks.
That would be:
Pick #8 & Pick #8-12 for Bolton, Pick #15 and Pick #16
Then hoping the target talls make it to the late teens.
Yes, we replace the first round pick this year and next with two much later picks this season and Shai Bolton. So we would receive pick 15 and 16 to use on the talls from your guess? What I mean by saying we don't have the means to get Bolton is that our club desperately needs a key forward and we will need to use our first rounder to get one.
I wouldn't pull the pin on Bolton trade unless we can draft some KPFs and maybe keep Cerra. With all the knocks Bell gets on here he is extremely good at trading picks and getting the players we need.My spidey senses are going off left, right and centre with all this Bolton talk.
The one year we have a chance to grab some quality, home grow KPF talent and then this Bolton talk pops up. I love watching the guy play and he could be one of the best going around in a year or two, but if we sell our future for some magic beans (again) I'm not sure if I'll cope.

2019: Aish, Acres, Young, Serong, HenryThat’s nonsense.
Bell has been average enough and often traded away picks especially second rounder picks as if they had no value whatsoever.
At one point in 2019 we had three second round picks yet by the time draft day came around we didn’t have any.
Some of the pick swapping that was done with the likes of port Adelaide and Adelaide around then left a lot to be desired.
Means absolutely nothing without the context of the picks we had.2019: Aish, Acres, Young, Serong, Henry
2020: Chapman, Treacy, Western, Walker
If that's sh*t trading than idk what good trading is.
I'm of the opinion that Lyon and Sausage were responsible for Hogan not Bell.Means absolutely nothing without the context of the picks we had.
Yeah we got good talent as you said. But excellent drafting covered some wry average pick trading.
There was some absolute clangers dropped in 2019 in particular.
Not bidding on Tom Green was one. Caught blindsided by Carlton in matching the Henry bid where we then had 5 mins to trade with port. We got Picks 52 & 55 (I.e junk picks) and we handed over pick 66 and a 2020 second rounder which was very lopsided in favour of port.
A week before we gave up pick 22 and a 2020 third rounder to Adelaide for pick 28 and pick 49 and a 2020 4th rounder that was never used. Adelaide screwed us there too.
As it turned out we landed Frederick late on but that was down to good drafting compensating for sloppy trade work so we weren’t too badly affected.
Bell also gave Hogan away to GWS for pick 53 when they had pick 40 available from Adelaide for Hately and they let him walk to the PSD for free instead of getting pick 40 from GWS for Hogan.
And I haven’t even mentioned the Hogan debacle. We gave up too much for him too - even if he had kicked 50 goals the next year and been a success the price was too high.
The massive concern I would have with Shai is that he's already done it. He's 22 and won 2 flags. Given he is human, I would be seriously concerned that he wouldn't have the drive to be the best he could be.
I agree with fnerd though in that he aint coming.

Maybe we can trade cerra to the dogs for Jamarra?Just imagine a situation where Treloar nominates us and we have an academy pick likely to go pick 1 in the draft.
Sitting in the stands watching Essendon v Richmond I thought Shai was best on - when Essendon took the lead I thought he was the key player to grab the momentum back - was involved in the next 3-4 scores by Richmond from memory. Absolute gun and would cost us a fortune. If he wants to come home and we can find a way to still take a KPF in the 1st round then I don't mind it.To me it just looks like Bolton finds playing footy easy. Playing in a decent team probably helps tho.
Think the issue for him is that he was in the spotlight as an AFL player. Anyone who paid any sort of attention to the AFL last year knows what he did, and what he did was pretty terrible. It’s interesting that Elijah Taylor, a troubled but talented young indigenous player is now pretty much lost out of the game.
Was rightly castigated and punished for what he did.
But didn’t Liam Ryan do the same or a similar thing and he is celebrated as the games “most watchable player”?
