Hawks vs Saints is the lowest all-Victorian crowd so far this year.

Good context. Crowds are down and there’s much work required to build them back up in the coming years. This round:
Port's lowest crowd at Adelaide Oval.
Collingwood's 3rd lowest crowd at Docklands.
Essendon 4th lowest crowd at Docklands.
Hawthorn's second lowest MCG crowd v Vic opposition in 18 years.
Richmond's second lowest MCG crowd v Vic opposition since their revival.
There's a lot of work to be done to rebuild the crowds. The AFL can't just sit back and trust it will go back to what it was.
(All excluding restricted crowds in 20/21)

I think it will be similar to last year which was 28,483.Can see another weekend of underwhelming crowds with Easter. Will North v dogs reach 32,000? I’m not so sure.
There were stadium capacity limits in place at that time though?I think it will be similar to last year which was 28,483.
Yep, and even worse ticketing than what we have now. There were stadium capacity limits in place at that time though?
Yes, I think it was capped at 75% from memory. There were stadium capacity limits in place at that time though?

Can't believe they put this game in a prime slot.
Every club is entitled to building a game.
Short term pain, long term game, let it grow.
Like Anzac Day, Dreamtime, round one opener, Easter Monday..
If a club is creative enough to make a prime slot, well it should be theirs.
Agree.Lol, those games were big from the get go. I can't think of a game that's gradually become a blockbuster. Not unless the teams suddenly play a grand final or 2 against each other anyway.

Dreamtime didn’t start off with massive crowds. Anzac Eve didn’t either if I recall correctly.Lol, those games were big from the get go. I can't think of a game that's gradually become a blockbuster. Not unless the teams suddenly play a grand final or 2 against each other anyway.
Whilst I agree with mostly everything you said, the Dogs should however make finals this season.Dreamtime didn’t start off with massive crowds. Anzac Eve didn’t either if I recall correctly.
Though obviously those games involve larger clubs and are played at the G, so they grew pretty quickly.
North are going to be possible spooners for the 2nd year in a row and we are 1-3 and likely to not make finals after a GF loss. We don’t really have any previous rivalries or regular finals meetings either to help with the growth of this marquee game either.
Not sharing the game back and forth is a real mistep as well. People are more likely to go every year if they get in for free every 2nd year.Dreamtime didn’t start off with massive crowds. Anzac Eve didn’t either if I recall correctly.

Exactly, was about to bring that up. If it’s North’s home game every year our fans will stop giving a shit (if they haven’t already). If the home games do not rotate then it’ll probably end up like the Eureka game. Not sharing the game back and forth is a real mistep as well. At the moment there's no reason for Dogs fans to get involved.
