That's the lowest ever (non covid restricted) crowd at Adelaide Oval.

I didn’t think it was too bad a crowd.
Can’t see them over going back to the days where tarps are needed.

25k would be what is expected in Melbourne for a mid sized team with a terrible form line going into a Thursday night. Couldn’t see a Saints, dogs, or Dees getting better in a similar situation, for that fact, any of the top 4 getting much more either.

That's good data so basically:

  • close to 1.5 million is exceptional
  • over 1 million is very good ratings

Therefore assuming?
  • 750 to 1 million is good
  • 500 to 750 average
  • under 500 poor

It really depends on the match, how its shown, how many cities its shown, whether it competes with another broadcast etc etc.

That final Essendon side for Sunday will find it difficult to beat Adelaide. It’s terrible on paper; No Stringer, Langford and Merrett (midfield), Jones and Walla (forwards). Has to be as ordinary an Essendon side in years. Doesn’t bode well for Sunday’s crowd. I will go 22,500.

Dogs v Swans was the Thursday night game The_Wookie
The Friday night game was Essendon v Melbourne.

On last night's numbers, interesting (but not surprising) to see a bit of a kick up in Perth. Amazing what happens when games aren't starting in the middle of the afternoon. It actually outrated BH&G on the main channel by about 2 to 1.

Damnit

Good luck guessing the crowd at the Richmond v Dogs game tonight. I’m going 43,500, but that is just a stab in the dark.

52,402 last year in round 7.
Can’t see it being that tonight.

No ground level GA, or very little tells you it should be about the same, but feels like maybe a 40k.

Richmond home game. Beautiful weather. There will likely be a small amount of tourists in town up for an MCG footy experience. In precivid times you’d say probably 50-55,000. I will go 48,500 but won’t be surprised if it nudges 50,000.

Other crowds will be down this weekend. Tomorrow’s crowd at Marvel will be impacted by Grand Prix (attendance and traffic deterrence around city) as well as an unwatchable Essendon. I will go 22,500.

Hawks / Saints crowd also likely to be impacted to a small degree. A couple of years ago this would be a typical 42,000-48,000 type game. 3:20 slot not fan friendly. It won’t have away game access for Saints so I will say 35,000-37,000.

Collingwood/Eagles also impacted by Grand Prix. It’s in a decent times lot. Anything 25,000+ would stupidly be regarded as a solid crowd.

You're predictions are usually pretty accurate Dave but my gut feel for Tigers v Bulldogs is 35K. I know it sounds low but looking at the previous 6 games between the two at the G the average crowd is 41,968

When you take off the 10% covid crowd tax that comes to around 36K.
Judging from the Bigfooty tigers board our supporter base like your mob is in a pretty negative mood right now as well so I'm not expecting anything impressive crowdwise tonight

If it gets 50k (which it will not) it makes Collingwood and Geelong last week look average.

50k would be a pretty remarkable above par Covid crowd.

AFLW Grand Final crowd looks very disappointing, with the upper decks of the stands empty. What happened to the massive Crows supporter base that packed out Adelaide Oval in 2019?

Agree on Hawks v Saints - would expect a similar roll up to the Hawks v North game.

Although I wouldn’t be surprised if it drops to 35,000 with the F1 competing directly against it.

If Hawthorn win tomorrow, the Easter Monday game would be easily the largest EM game since 2018.

Given how uncompetitive Hawthorn has been over the last 5 years (and Geelong’s consistency at the top) I’m surprised the AFL has persisted with that fixture to be honest
