Yeah Brisbane has a lot of inside kids, as evidenced by having the flexibility to play Ella Smith on a wing.

I agree re: Smith, she’s battling with Evans for that third Suns spot IMO (Keeping in mind it was Evans’ first game in eight months). I think Calleja is a raw talent I’d definitely consider if she can continue building this year.

From Brisbane, they have a lot of similar types in that midfield. Seton definitely in better form, I still would rather Mullins more outside and E Smith inside as Mullins looked better (IMO) when she was forward/wing in the past. She will win less of the ball, I just think she’s more potent that way. Seton is your pure inside mid. Honestly think she’s probably done about as much as E Smith, so will be interesting to see what they do for QLD at champs. Kadie Fletcher one I like for upside. Not a high volume ball-winner, but a forward who can capitalise. Courtney Browne is one I’ve got on my to-watch list.
Seton isnt quick, but she is tough as nails and runs all day, needs to work on her disposal by foot though. She is proven at senior level too, so in my eyes she is less of a risk.

Not sold on Fletcher, how can i put this... i think she needs to work on her team first mentality. Other better, proven options in the fwd line.

Browne is solid and improving interesting to see how she goes in seniors. But i think Hillier is ahead atm

Smith is an endurance beast, i think she equaled or beat the yoyo test record at testing. I dont know if she will stick with rowing or commit to afl.

Sheridan doing her acl was shocking for the kid, a real shame.

Does anyone know where Lily-Rose Williamson is? She's one I didn't know much about until seeing her name on this page, but haven't seen her in any matches this year (unless she has played and been so poor I missed it).

We don’t know the full story and it’s not the place for it, but it’s not lack of talent for her lack of matches. Commitment is the big question mark. A real shame as she’s incredible at full flight.

Ahhh, well that's disappointing no doubt for footy fans. Hopefully, she's doing what she enjoys and if footy is high on that list and she wants to make it a priority then fingers crossed things turn around for her.

The orher one from the suns is Cockatoo-motlop i think she is from Cairns. I think if she was available now the suns would play her ... in the top side. Good skills, quick and good game sense.

SANFLW having a bye this weekend so have put together a potential side for the Championships.

SA U18 Champs team (included 23+3 depending on rules)

B: Lily Whitcombe (05) - Amelie Borg (04) - Brooke Boileau (05)
HB: Shineah Goody (05) - Chloe Whitington-Charity (05) - Sarah Goodwin (04)
W: Molly Brooksby (05) - Lana Schwerdt (04) - Sachi Syme (04)
HF: Georgia McKee (06) - India Rasheed (06) - Lucy Boyd (06)
F: Rosie Boon (04) - Shae Archbold (06) - Tahlia Walker (04)
R: Jemma Ellis (04) - Hannah Ewings (04) - Keeley Kustermann (04)
INT: Charlie Scutchings (04) - Matilda Scholz (06) - Ella Boag (04) - Dakota Williams (04) - Cher Waters (04)
EMG: Violet Patterson (06) - Marlie Fiegert (05) - Jemma Whitington-Charity (06)

Others in a 30-player squad:

Poppy Scholz (05)
Bethany Sigley (05)
Elaine Grigg (05)
Charlotte Riggs (06)

Missing: Lauren Young (ACL), Tiah Hough (04, injured all year after only one game, probably would crack in)

Notes:

  • Forward line is far too tall-heavy. Five of those six are either medium-talls or talls, but they're all pretty athletic, so perhaps it might be the way of the future.
  • Every chance Goody plays midfield and Kustermann can use her skills at HB too, same for Goodwin getting midfield experience. Plenty of ruck options, Matilda Scholz has the highest upside, but Ellis has been performing at state level and a top-ager. Charlotte Riggs and Beth Sigley the other rucks who can roll in, though Riggs is more of a tall defender.

There are no 2003-born players in the State Academy such is the strength of the future talent. SA will go with a "if they're good enough, they're old enough approach this year, so don't be surprised to see a stack of 06-born talents. I reckon they are probably lacking one extra tall defender. Riggs will develop nicely into that in the next 12 months, but realistically Borg is the main one there, with Boileau, Whitcombe and Whitington-Charity not quite in that same boat. Goodwin and Goody are natural ball users.

Still a little while until Champs, but these are the ones standing out at SANFLW level.

I don’t know how many girls eligible for This draft but watched the Peel V East Freo game and a very high quality and skilful game.

Yeah Kaitlyn Srhoj as a bottom-ager had shot straight into my radar for next year. Raw but incredibly talented, great athleticism. Georgie Cleaver is a bottom-age AFLW Academy player. They’ve been playing her predominantly in the ruck but she won’t play there at AFLW level if she makes it. Mylee Leitch has talent, as does Aisha Wright who though not part of the State Academy are names to remember if they nominate for the draft. From a mature-age view Jaide Britton has added the weapons to her game she needed to to couple with her athleticism this season and would be a chance, and Anjelique Raison is another young talent who countinues to develop. From an Under 16s perspective, Zippy Fish and Jorja Haines are inconsistent but have that raw X-factor up forward.

So Scott sort of had the big game we were asking for this week, still not massive on the scoreboard (swandered a few easy set shots) but was moving up the ground more and looked dangerous as a link up half forward type of player, took 4 or 5 contested marks in the first quarter alone, but unfortunately I've got to say the performance left more questions than answers. Her defensive stuff has never been great but it stood out a lot more than usual when she was getting her midfield rotation, there was just not enough effort in that regard even if there was an opportunity to provide pressure just 5 steps away, but the big thing now is I'm questioning her kicking on the run/ under pressure, a lot of loopy kicks or helicopters when there wasn't any real reason for them was worrying

hi PMBangers

are you going to do another national or Vic top 20, just wondering as the bottom 8 teams are now locked in

do you believe that WC, Saints, Cats, Tigers & GC will receive any draft concessions this coming season's draft ?

also Bridget Deed now prelisted by Hawthorn, will she play any more games in the juniors, or it's Hawks VFLW from now on ?

thanks, love your work

Yeah I'll probs do one of both post-champs, really hoping some of the Vic girls push up because right now the top 4 here is clear and then the next 10 or so are ridiculously difficult to separate, this isn't because of weaknesses either, there's just so much to like about the Hipwells, Coynes, Ryan, Di Donatos, Eardleys, Taylors etc that performance may be the determining factor for that group. In saying that for a National top 20 Pie 4 Life is the guy, outside the top 2-3 for SA, WA and QLD I don't have enough knowledge to be reliable for it

I doubt we'll see concessions for those clubs directly, but maybe if they lose a player or two to expansion clubs they'll get better compensated than say a Collingwood or Adelaide. I wouldn't be shocked to see Rosie Dillon move to the Hawks for example, if she were at a top club they might not get anything but for the saints she might get them an end of first or something along those lines

I expect Deed to be full time in the VFLW until NAB League finals personally given Eastern are locked in now

thank you, after the champs it is, looking forward to it

interested in the Vic players only, to be honest
yeah it's the players outside the consensus top 4 Vic (Fleming, Ham, Baskaran & Clarke with Goldsworthy say for now nominating NSW) that i'm keen on knowing your thoughts

yeah i assumed so that concessions would be hard to get, considering expansion clubs coming in

yeah makes sense with Deed, that the Hawks do that
jeez she was setting a cracking pace in the RMC best, 23 votes in all her 5 games (4 x 5 votes, 1 x 3 votes)
avg 30+ disposals, wow

The next few is a combination of Hipwell (probably my #5 ATM, huge fan) Taylor, Hurley, Eardley, Di Donato, Busch, past that is the unknown, I think Charley Ryan and Keely Coyne in particular don't get the attention they deserve to a degree, but there's been so many that have impressed/ fallen slightly to be in that 10-20 range that it's gonna be a headache to figure out

yes, the Vic players you've suggested outside top 4, the 5 - 20 range

i must say, how incredibly well 16 yo Lucia Painter is going
have you seen her play live ?

Been fortunate enough to see her live a few times, between her and Centra I'd just start tanking now

Any particular reason? Local Under 14s coach a guy you can trust? ;)

I'd be fine with Ryan at pick 10. I'd prefer Eardley, if available (or Baskaran/Clarke/Flemming/Ham if not), but Ryan's been really impressive. The best mid on the best team. Can play inside, outside and forward. I assume she'd be able to play back if needed. She's tall and athletic. I'd be really surprised if she lasted beyond the first round.

Not many surprises here, seems similar to last year where Country have picked a good team and Metro have selected their best 20 odd players

Reckon they'll be surprised when South Australia (if fully fit) roll Country ;)
