I wonder if we could use two of our mid-40s picks to try and move up into the late-20s. Points wise its about equal, but just not sure if any teams would be interested in biting.

Maybe Richmond, if they think they need a big draft crop? Say, 42 and 45 (742 points) for 27 (703 points)? We would then have 15, 27, 47 and 87 before even thinking about potential compo or anything.

Not sure it's realistic, let alone likely, but I would love the shot for two picks in the top 30. Sadly seems like other teams are better suited to take advantage of Brisbane's need for points (namely Gold Coast)

Essendon may want points for Davey Jnr.
Brisbane needs lots of points so will need to do more than just Gold Coast. McStay FA Compo/trade. Trade players out Devon Robertson, Ely Smith, Jack Payne, etc. fringe types. Noting they need to have list spots available for each pick with points.

Matt Jefferson has no school footy or Nab League commitments this week so might be a good chance for pies to try and get him in to play VFL this week.

Tsatas is in the same boat but might not be ready with his injury yet.

That would be good. I know we have a connection to the chargers; but is this possible? Can you just play nab league players just because they aren't playing anywhere? Its understandable for our NGA prospects, just wasn't sure whether it applies for others.

You could get permission, Essendon tried it with Culley before he was drafted and I don’t think it’s any different because he was 19

Hi Collingwood Fans & Draft Watchers - pardon the intrusion.

For those who might be interested I've created a thread over at the Draft hub about the BigFooty 2022 National Draft Crowdsourced Rankings (!!) which allows BF draft fans like yourself to participate in creating a 'crowdsourced player power ranking'. You can read about it on that thread or go straight to the survey site here to cast your own votes towards a crowdsourced ranking.

It's got close to 4000 votes since launching this morning so whether you're a draft guru or just an interested onlooker we'd love to have your input into this different approach to ranking the prospective draftees for 2022.

It's very simple - just go to Who is the better prospect for the 2022 AFL National Draft? and rank the player you think is better from each random pair that are shown...do it as many times as you like and see what player combos you get shown.

Below is a snapshot of the top 10 so far but you can see the full results here. Love to have you join in!

Note: the survey is about choosing which player of a pair you think is the better prospect so the scores you see below are the estimated chance (based on the BigFooty crowd responses) that a player will win (i.e. will be chosen) against any other randomly chosen player (from the pre-populated list of ~45 top prospects). For example, a score of 100 means the player is predicted to be selected every time and a score of 0 means the player is predicted to not be selected every time.

Thanks mate.

It’s a really interesting project.

I’ve already spent more time clicking away than I should have.

No Lemmey or Keeler in Twomey’s top 25!

Maybe we could still get a bargain late.

As much as I think we need a key forward prospect early, Hewett would be hard to pass up if he actually fell into that kind of range.

Collingwood have an official affiliation with the chargers I believe, so it would make sense that any juniors playing as 23rd man would be taken from there.

Lemmey: Has getting Covid and a restricted pre-season really impacted his form or is he trying to slide in order to stay in SA? Seems to have lost his ability to create separation on the lead and therefore getting less marks. I would expect that he still goes first round and won't slide to the 2nd unless he does a Jack Darling and creates some rumours of bad off field behaviour.

I also wonder why Scully after being extremely dominant in u18 comp didn't get more opportunities vs better opposition.

Be kinda funny if we get him given his brother is on our vfl list.

But surely I mean Lemmey is right there --

Things are somewhat clearer but at the same time fuzzier after the Champs. I think I can pretty comfortably say the tiers for me are as follows
Tier 1; Wardlaw, Ashcroft, Sheezel
Tier 2; Tsatas, Phillipou, Clark, Cadman, Busslinger, Mackenzie
Tier 3; Hewett, Jefferson, Hollands, Keeler, Szybkowski, Fletcher, Hustwaite, Humphrey, Barnett, Gilbey, Konstanty

Those included that aren't in those 3 tiers make up the next tier with a few others like Sadler, Cowan, Michalanny, Clarke and Jones, hoping that finals in various leagues will see some big performances to help with clarity, but overall I'm a little more optimistic about the depth in this draft than I was prior to the champs, I still think there'll be a lot of busts but there's a real evenness that means recruiters will be earning their money

Brisbane need points: Ashcroft #1 and Fletcher #21
Essendon F&S: Davey Jnr #19

Collingwood KPF: Cadman #8 and Jefferson #9 gone. Keeler possible @ #14. Lemmey and Scully not in top 25.

Don't hold your breath, we might not even pick up KF with our first pick, we are talking about Hine

Just about bookmark that he/we won't be.

I know your not a fan given you feel his opposition is smaller.
But imo given this was his first year playing the role and had big growth spurt he has a lot of room for growth.
Besides at 202cm with gadget arms not many kpd are going to ve his height anyway. So long as he doesn't shirk the contest or become a shrinking violet when physically challenged.
Hopefully Scully is there at a later pick, he has a lot of room for growth given he only moved forward over preseason. Only 17 too being November born.

“202cm, doesn’t turn 18 until November – the Championships is going to be a big part of his season in the middle of the year for South Australia but what we’ve seen so far has been astonishing really.

“Still a bit of growing to do in him, but certainly all the clubs are looking into Tom Scully – the key forward from West Adelaide and wondering how high he’s going to go.

I would still love a Lemmey and Scully double can see both developing into quality talls in 4 to 5 years time.

Setting up our Nick Daicos led new gen pies team.

I still think this year could be giving people a false outlook on the coming seasons after we lose pendles sidebum Howe etc and others age Crisp Adams Grundy etc

I would love to draft Keeler then a big mid but would not mind a big KPD but there seems less of them this year.
Apart from Lewis Hayes VicM 197cm KPD 20-30 range
there is also:
James Van Es VicC 196cm late to rookie (I like him)
Olivier Northam VicC 195cm mid to late (competitive undersized ruck)
Nicholas McLarty VicM 201cm rookie (brother of Sam)
Will Elliott VicM 200cm ruck rookie (Inj. knee son of Matthew Elliott)
Harvey Howe VicC 201cm ruck rookie
Etc.

Scully on the little I have seen of him has one trick. Lead, mark, goal.

Most of his goals came against undersized opponants.
He struggles for separation on the lead so against fast and tall AFL players would struggle.
Unless he is marking he also struggles defensively and with contested ground balls.

I may be being harsh but that's my notes.
