rowe will flourish as he ages. Good skills and can adjust to the pace of the game. We will regret letting him go.

his field kicking is pretty good but his goal kicking at pressure of AFL level is putrid only just above murphy

murphy and rowe are not needed with rankine rachele pedlar macadam all first choice let alone the rotations coming in from the midfield

mchenry is absolute on the edge of the cliff - have an amazing breakout 2023 or look to trade given he still has two years to run. not best 26 currently.

Max is a nice enough player, just feel we have other needs. I'd rather a project ruck than a project 3rd tall.

Why not both because I agree we really do need to bring in a young developing ruck because surely we aren't planning to develop Thilthorpe as a ruck if so we used KPF draft collateral to get him?

I think they are hedging their bets depending how he develops as a forward this year.

We want to see him start to show a lot more this year as a forward.

Surely Max is more a running type? He just happens to have good size. We have no drive from half back at all at the moment so yes it's a need.

Max Michaelanney is not a 3rd tall though .......he's a replacement for Smith

Totally agree. I love Rowey but he can easily be replaced. There are few others not as good but were not delisted and saved only because they were contracted.

Isn’t Max known for being a good shut down defender? We don’t have one of those. He’s also very skinny so I doubt he will play for a couple of years, it will give time to see how our defence is shaping up.

Michalanney will be more like an Andrew Mackie type. Rebounding half back.

Could see us lining up like this in, say 2025.

I liked Davis and think that with specialist coaching and a big dose of encouragement from the coach might have developed into a 90 game C-grade, role player at half-back for the club. There are worse players on the current list, but there are several better running half backs. However that didn’t happen and we need to take a punt on a new Rookie who will likely be a dud, but might just be the next Rutten, Bock, Doughty, Laird, Mattner or ROB (although ROB should probably be back on the Rookie List).

I don’t understand the Turner situation ….. weird MSD selection in the first place, then never given a chance after recovering from injury. Could possibly be an upgrade on Keays or McHenry on a skills basis if he wants an AFL career badly enough, but maybe better to give a new kid from the draft a chance (Verrall?)

I would have kept Rowe over McHenry (if also uncontracted). I think Rowe has a higher ceiling. Not disappointed to see either cut loose.

Finally, why don’t we have a young Paddy as our allowed 3rd Cat B rookie? For no draft capital, Irish Gaelic footballers have offered very good returns for many other clubs … likely adding raw pace and an endearing accent at local nightclubs.

Retire:
Seedsman, Sloane, Walker (performance dependent)

Re-sign (high priority):
Fogarty, Schoenberg, Worrell, Butts

Re-sign:
Murray, McAdam, Doedee, Taylor

Wait and see:
Jones, McAsey, Hately, Nankervis

De-list:
McPherson, Strachan, Murphy, Crouch
