If Butts or Murray go down, we are stuffed for KPD. I hope Fish can get his 1st full season under his belt and can show something to the coaching stuff and now without Billy we have no real back up. I sure hope eve if Fish plays in the 2s at is down back as he is not getting in the forward line.

With the monster size forwards these days we are little light on height down there as it is.

Butts -198 cm .... Murray 194 cm

Extra interchange ....a lot of teams will be playing 2 Ruckman .....FREO, MELB, BRIS, NORTH, HAW, maybe RICH .....who stops Lobb at 206 cm ?

Second-chance saloon: The AFL delisted free agents who deserve another chance

ELY SMITH

Age: 22

Games: 0

The Lions’ first-round selection at No. 21 in the 2018 national draft, Smith was unable to break through for a senior appearance in his four years at the club with a run of injuries not helping his cause. The big-bodied Victorian midfielder was one of three players delisted by the Lions

RILEY COLLIER-DAWKINS

Age: 22

Games: 11

A former first-round draft pick, Collier-Dawkins managed only 11 senior games in his four seasons at Punt Rd. After being taken at pick No. 20 in the 2018 national draft, the young midfielder played nine games in 2021 after making his debut in round 7. But he appeared in just two senior games this year.

SYDNEY STACK

Age: 22

Games: 35

Bursting onto the AFL scene after he was selected as a pre-season supplemental signing in 2019, Stack made an immediate impact with 17 games and 10 goals in his first year in the league. He won the Tigers’ best first-year player and VFL premiership in his debut year. But since then, his senior appearances dried up, dropping to nine (2020), seven (2021) and two games (2022). Remains an exciting talent to be harnessed.

LIAM STOCKER

Age: 22

Games: 28

Carlton’s first-round selection (No. 19 overall) in the 2018 national draft, Stocker played a career-high 17 games last season, but could only manage six this season with the Blues. Stocker believes he can develop into a full-time midfielder, potentially best suited to lock-down roles. Stocker’s name has been linked with Essendon, but the Bombers have already secured his teammate at the Blues, Will Setterfield, during the trade period

JAMES ROWE

Age: 23

Games played: 36

Can be considered unlucky to get delisted after two seasons at Adelaide but looks to have been a causality of a list squeeze at the Crows. The Western Bulldogs had shown an interest in Rowe and he should be a good chance of getting a second chance.

thats why I say himmelberg should be doing preseason with the defenders

hes not getting a game forward but could easily be needed down back if if hes never player there

Don't see Himmelberg as having the necessary agility TBH .....will be an interesting PS, as our DEF will have real issues in 2023

Let's hope McAsey can lift to another level .....to me, it's just getting his head right ....and super fit

suspect you right but is excess to needs forward so either develop him into that 200cm def or cut him free

with welsh on the radar and gollant coming through in a stacked forward like he has no hope

either that or we need to find a 200cm defender because youre spot on with the resting ruck situation of the good teams

Seeing McAsey’s name still on our list just makes me feel crook now.
Berg would not be tight enough as a kpd and doesn’t have the desperation or drive of his brother imo.

Pity Frampton could not be tamed , I’d have him in front of both on desperation and effectiveness.

Is McAsey any more agile than Himmelberg, though? I haven't seen a whole lot of him, but from what I have seen he didn't look especially light on his feet.

I still have a small bit of hope for him. He has never done a full pre-season to date. Hopefully he can do his 1st full pre-season and kick on from there and he can show something to the coaches. We so need that 198cm KPD as we are very light on if Butts or Murray go down. He is still only 21 and I just hope he is a late bloomer.

Hope you are right but sad to say

I'd put McAsey on a par with most AFL Defenders .....light on his feet, no

But his footy IQ is very good .....and, was Rutten all that agile ?

McAsey is most definitely not a full time FWD .....his footy IQ was on show, for those that studied his moves closely

BUT ....he does need to elevate his fitness, and 2nd efforts

Didn't have the competitiveness required ......the game had to be on Frampton's terms

From the Coach's POV .....there was obviously a "light-bulb" moment game, where his name was crossed off the list

Lets say Phillipou is there at Melbournes pick 13, would you swap 13 and Melbourne's future first for our 2023 first rounder?

Melbourne have 2 first rounders next year so they might be happy to part with one. We'd also bank on improving next year so ours is around the 8-12 mark. I cant see it being a bottom 4 pick, North, West Coast, Giants and Hawks have those I reckon. Melbourne would be hoping for a top 6 pick in a stronger draft.

Also means if we target another player, they cant demand a low pick because we have it, like GC did with Rankine.

Cant agree on competitiveness, think he eats both of them when on his game. Agree we saw something that marked him a must trade for whatever reason.

Wouldn’t surprise me to see Fly get the best out of him , but also for the marble in his head to get loose mid season for him to lose the plot again.

Went lurking on the boards which I thought may have a pick for us to trade into for Phillipou .
BF boards don’t draft players but didn’t get past WC who are salivating @ 8 for the Poo as they have dubbed him.

Yes

The list cuts now are clinical scalpel.
The next one is gonna be a jagged wound. I see it being Hamill before Seed.
I see both having their careers ended by concussion. Seed's career is over now, although he's still in the denial phase of the grieving process. Hamill is potentially only 1 big hit away from joining him, but is seemingly currently able to continue playing for now.

Himmelburg is a lazy footballer..

The last thing I want to see is The dragon lazily jogging along 10 metres behind his opponent if that opponent is a forward..

Its bad enough watching him doing it when himmelberg is the forward himself..

Trying to turn himm into a defender would be a disaster.

If we wanted KPd depth, that really isnt proven at AFL, we shouldve held onto Frampton and got rid of himmelburg.
(Note: at this point with the list the way it is I wouldve held onto both for depth)

But I suspect that the Pies chased Frampton for a while.. whereas no club bothered to even chase Himmelburg.. so we were stuck with the poorer one of the two for depth..
