Yep. I would.Lets say Phillipou is there at Melbournes pick 13, would you swap 13 and Melbourne's future first for our 2023 first rounder?
Melbourne have 2 first rounders next year so they might be happy to part with one. We'd also bank on improving next year so ours is around the 8-12 mark. I cant see it being a bottom 4 pick, North, West Coast, Giants and Hawks have those I reckon. Melbourne would be hoping for a top 6 pick in a stronger draft.
Also means if we target another player, they cant demand a low pick because we have it, like GC did with Rankine.
Currently list is 41.Excuse my ignorance, but can someone tell me how many spots we have available on draft night currently.
Nope, evasive but not elite speed, no way.stengle did have elite speed

Aren't players taken in the ND put onto the senior list?Currently list is 41.
So we can recruit 3 players
1 - Senior List
2 - Rookie List
We will need to delist another player to get the two picks.Aren't players taken in the ND put onto the senior list?
How does that work if we are taking pick 23 and MM in the draft with only 1 senior list spot available?
Apologies if this has already been asked.
do you happen to remember what he ran at combine?Nope, evasive but not elite speed, no way.

We were stupid not to split pick 5 this year and give GC one of those picks . That way they could have kept 7 and given a later first with BowesLets say Phillipou is there at Melbournes pick 13, would you swap 13 and Melbourne's future first for our 2023 first rounder?

There is a window for moving players from the senior to rookie list - but it's between the ND and RD, so we can't use it to free up positions that we could use in the ND.Delist and rookie right? We can't just shift to rookie can we?

It appears we'll have no choice but to delist, then re-draft in the RD.
I think there's a very high probability that he's on our list in 2023 - but most likely not the senior list.Wonder if there's a chance Seedsman still shakes hands and goes?
I thought they could do this after the National draft..There is a window for moving players from the senior to rookie list - but it's between the ND and RD, so we can't use it to free up positions that we could use in the ND.

Yes.I thought they could do this after the National draft..
No. Draft selections are finalised at the List Lodgement before the ND, and you only get as many selections as you have vacancies at that date. So… you take the picks you want at the draft and then shuffle players from the senior list to the rookie list or delist other players in order to make it all work after the fact.. and depending on what you end up with at the draft..
I think it depended on what GC's approach was - if they insisted on p5 for Izak and were going to be iceholes about it, splitting p5 would mean we lose the ND threat for getting Izak (really doubt we would go the PSDWe were stupid not to split pick 5 this year and give GC one of those picks . Had we landed higher up the ladder and ended up with Picks 8,9,10, Im confident the Suns would have accepted this as well.I think it depended on what GC's approach was - if they insisted on p5 for Izak and were going to be iceholes about it, splitting p5 would mean we lose the ND threat for getting Izak (really doubt we would go the Rookie draft threat).
So in your opinion do we only take 1 pick in the ND, or will we delist one more?I think there's a very high probability that he's on our list in 2023 - but most likely not the senior list.
Given that his retirement is forced by injury, he would be entitled to 100% of his 2023 contract. We're already paying out Brown's negotiated settlement in the 2022 salary cap. We probably don't have room in the 2022 cap for paying out both players.
Blind Freddy can see that Seedsman's AFL career is over - but Seedsman is still in the denial stage of grieving, insisting that his playing days are not finished.
I think we'll delist a contracted player, re-drafting them in the RD. Most likely Seedsman. So in your opinion do we only take 1 pick in the ND, or will we delist one more?
Look at what port and Brisbane did, they didn’t seem to care what the other club did, they traded picks for other picks and still landed their players (jhf and Dunkley).I think it depended on what GC's approach was - if they insisted on p5 for Izak and were going to be iceholes about it, splitting p5 would mean we lose the ND threat for getting Izak (really doubt we would go the Rookie draft threat).

I’m confident had we split 5 into say Carlton 10 and next years first round we would still had landed Rankine with pick 10 and next years 3rd
Just imagine if this draft they 'reach' for Hollands' brother with the pick 5 we gave them only for a year or 2 later we convince Elijah that his future is at the club he followed all his life..GC will be apoplecticI agree we could have played hardball like we did with Sydney last year. Split 5 into two firsts as long as we still had a top 10 pick to trade them.
If we'd finished the season in 9th and had pick 10 as our highest pick I think most would have agreed that it was a fair trade for Rankine with some steak knive picks thrown in.
One makes me wonder if we acted in good faith as we'll be negotiating with them again in the near future (Hollands, Anderson).

Volbeat's source is exceptionally good so I am inclined to believe we at least had some reservations on who would be available around our pickYep, but ask some on this board and there's 'nO WaY GoLd CoAsT wOuLD hAvE LeT uS dO tHaT'
Still makes me think there was weight to those rumours mentioned by Volbeat
Given this is the list management thread - let me see if I have this right.
We have a decent F/S prospect that we might not be able to select, because we have no space on our list. A team that has finished 14, 15th and 18th the last 3 years.
A team that somehow has 22 players out of contract next year.
List management.....that's the job right?
