Yes... but you need senior list vacancies for them to fill. Brown & Frampton alone = 2 vacancies. That's enough for the rookie upgrades - but leaves no further vacancies for a ND selection, or Rankine.

At a minimum we need to create 4 senior list vacancies - 3 for ND/rookie upgrades, 1 for Rankine. Note that 1 of those vacancies could come from changing from a 37/5 list structure to 38/4 (could, but probably won't).

Brown going takes us to 36/5; upgrading two rookies takes us to 38/3 and counts for two of our three required draft picks.

Frampton leaving gives us space for Rankine, and Rowe not being re-signed gives us the third draft pick we have to make.

It COULD be all done very simply.

Hopefully we do more than that, but it's simple to do what we have to.

Crouch is gone, surely.
Davis gone at least makes room on the rookie list

Not sure how Seedsman going on the LTI list (or being paid out) as well as Turners status affects those numbers

No it doesn't with Rankine coming in we just play Lachie Murphy in Brown's role....it's what got him on our list in the 1st place.

What's more I'd be of the opinion Lachie will never be questioned again as being in our best 22 even by his detractors.
No arguments from me.

Yes... but going to 38/4 is unlikely, and the post I was replying to hadn't factored in Rowe's departure - only Frampton, Brown & Davis.

For Crouch to be gone, he needs to find a club which has interest in a slow contested accumulator with zero hurt factor - and he's competing with Tom Mitchell for any such available positions.

While Crouch & the AFC are no doubt both keen for him to find a new home - and I hope they are successful - there's a very real possibility that no other club will be interested in taking him off our hands. Don't forget that he couldn't find a buyer when he tried shopping himself around as a FA 12 months ago (albeit having missed a year due to injury), and his stocks have only fallen since then.

The most likely outcome for Seedsman is that he moves to the rookie list, and then gets placed on the inactive list. Initially, this would create a vacancy on the senior list. The second move would create a vacancy on the rookie list, which we would be able to fill via the PSSP (e.g. Murray) or MSD (e.g. Parnell & Turner).

I personally don’t understand all the hate for McHenry.

Sure he isn’t the most well rounded footballer, but he is not anywhere near the worst.

I think he has upside.

I’d want to see the back of Rowe, Crouch, Frampton, Hately and Sloane before anyone approaches Ned’s shoulder.
What’s his upside? In which areas?

Moving Seedsman to the rookie list won’t give an extra draft pick if as he still takes up one of the 42 available spots assuming Turner takes The Davis spot

The missing part of the equation is that we need to have created a vacancy on the rookie list for him to move into.

Effectively it's Seedsman + Rookie X -> Senior List vacancy + Rookie List vacancy, but the rookie list vacancy can't be filled until after the RD (i.e. via PSSP or MSD).

Eh? How don't they? They're two young KPDs who are starting to build a pretty solid partnership together. Both have a fair bit of development left as well and Worrell/Doedee are a solid support cast to build a top tier defense out of.
They're both shutdown KPDs with extremely limited offensive skills. Ideally you want one of those, and one good on the rebound but still capable of actual defending.

Yup, that's the game for Murray. Morphing away from a shutdown D into a J.McGovern type who can handle a 2nd key forward and provide a fair bit of offensive drive. He certainly has the marking power to do it.

Does not and will not ever have the foot skills nor the vision to be a Jeremy McGovern type intercepting and rebounding KPD.

The only clubs in his bag are the country footballer 65m ball burster and the full body spoil.

& there are likely to be other players traded out... Crouch & possibly McAsey.

Please. Ned comfortably sits in that group. The only thing keeping Ned safe is the first rounder we invested in him. So far he is still not at Petrenko or Wright levels - and both were sent packing after 5 years on the list

That's not even remotely close to being true. He's not a great player, but he's nowwhere near Jarrhan Jacky levels of incompetence.
Jacky is the worst player I can remember playing for us. Worse than Myke Cook and David Gallagher even.
