We're kind of having a disastrous season on the list management side of things, seeing everyone who has bolted this year is currently out of contract (+ most were likely lads we were hoping to delist), we don't have many to begin with and there is certainly potential it's going to get more uncomfortable with Parnell/Newchurch pushing for a debut.

So it's probably worth considering trading Fog even if we can't use that pick, especially if list sizes aren't increasing. It might be the difference between getting our F/S or not.
Problem is.. what if we trade out/get rid of fog and a couple of our forwards go down at the same time?..

Thilly just went down on the weekend.. best case scenario is hes only out for a few weeks.. what if Tex goes down next week with an ankle or the dreaded old man’s calf and is out for a few?…

Fogarty will be straight back in.. we havent got anything else.

We move fog on end of year and the same thing happened next year and we’d be screwed.

Our KPF stocks, given one of them is in his twilght years, is actually pretty low.. unless you count frampton.

Another reason we should be giving Worrell a run up forward in the SANFL..

Dunkley is elite and is one of the dogs best players along with Bont and Macrae. Can play mid and forward.
Elite?

Good solid big mid that can get forward, foot skills average doesn't denote elite.

Is Dunkley really topline tho?..

To me he looks like another one of what we’ve already got..

We need class, speed and xfactor to add to the grunt of laird and keays..

I will admit I really havent watched a hell of a lot of Dunkley.. but what I have seen really hasnt jumped out at me as anything super special.
Agreed we should trade for a topline mid, if possible.
I see Dunkley was rated BOG by someone here, but I couldn't see that. In fact, I honestly only noticed him once, in the last quarter.
I want a mid who I consistently notice in opposition!

We should only trade for something clearly better than what we have in the position. Dawson is the archetype.

I think Bailey will be a gem.
We've missed the boat with Zac Bailey.

He re-signed at a number that obviously was large enough to get him to go early, and he's only becoming more and more important at the Lions.

We needed to make the move 12+ months ago.

Personally, I'm still very strong on Powell, but putting that aside ...

Bailey Laurie was an interesting idea? It would be nice to think that someone would shake loose at Melbourne.

I'll open the can of worms and say that Josh Dunkley is a better player than Rory Laird. Similar in style but more weapons.

Poulter would interest me way more than Powell but I doubt the Pies or the Roos would let them go cheaply anyhow.

IMO Zac Taylor is a better footballer than Tom Powell anyhow, only thing Powell has over Taylor is the retention question.

Agreed on Poulter, has a real POD in terms of both his size, athleticism and weapon of a left leg. Could genuinely fill that outside/in midfield role who could also roll through wing and half back.

Poulter would be gettable as part of a Fogarty trade, surely.

We forget how good Powell was - reasonably athletic and an absolute pure football brain. I like Taylor, but Powell has shown way more to this point.

North weirdly are overstocked in their mids. Powell should be getting prioritised but isn't.

Agree that probably a Fogarty-Poulter trade probably makes reasonable sense at present, no doubt there'd be some bickering over draft picks too...

I don't agree so much on Powell, how good was he really? To me he smacked of a relatively developed 18 year old midfielder whom dominanted a very weak U18 SANFL comp with no U18 champs and no games in the seniors to show his true talent.

My concern would be that he'll end up being a bit of a Matt Crouch type and that's not necessarily a slight on him, but my concern is he'll be the type of player who finds a lot of the footy, but ultimately lacks hurt factor and is quite one dimensional.

From an Adelaide perspective I'd rather back in Berry, Schoenberg, Pedlar, Soligo, Taylor than fork out the capital likely required to bring Powell home at present.

I agree North have certainly spent a lot of capital on mids in the past 2 years, JHF, Phillips, Powell, Goater...

Taylor will be a gun.

I’m not expecting him to walk away with no $$, clearly we would pay him some of his contract but we could also employ him in a development role. If he plays on next year we need to make it clear to him he’s playing sanfl, because to bring a 33 year old back half way through the year, who was already slowing down, during a rebuild would be beyond dumb. And we need the list spot, the cap not so much.

He'll be right to go near enough to round 1, assuming no setbacks.

I said a late first rounder and if we pay a majority of M.Crouch's 2023 salary, hence this will be more beneficial for a premiership contender instead of them using their late 1st rounder. When did I say Fogarty was going to get a 1st rounder? He won't even get a late 1st rounder or even an early to mid 2nd rounder.

That’s basic adjacent nonsense

Re: next year hoping we’re getting him to tank and come across more “injured” Keeler to replace Fogarty if traded

Straight swap with Pies - Fogarty > < Poulter

There’s a few key forwards in this years draft
