Not saying he's not a decent player, but what does he offer that we don't already have in absolute spades? Ultimately, there's a reason he can't get a game for North Melbourne. Draft for talent, trade for needs, he is not a need and would not come cheap.
Poulter would interest me way more than Powell but I doubt the Pies or the Roos would let them go cheaply anyhow.

IMO Zac Taylor is a better footballer than Tom Powell anyhow, only thing Powell has over Taylor is the retention question.

He was injured for the entire 2021 season so what did you expect? Doesn't matter if he is contracted for 2023, he can still be traded and if we offer to pay a majority of his salary for 2023 as part of the trade this might be tempting for a premiership contender, particularly given his form has been quite good so this is totally different to the situation when he was FA.
Could be traded... but won't be.

Well this hasn’t aged too well 😬

Delist/trade/retire

Sloane: injury has curtailed his influence. Coming back from an ACL at his age and playing good footy won’t happen. Give him an ambassador role like Sauce

McHenry: he’s improved the last few games but I’ll still trade

Davis: time to free up a list spot

Seed: will he ever be 100% again? Think we have younger players that can fill his role

One of Fog or Berg.

Ins remain the same
McHenry trade talk etc isn't happening, surely people get the coaches rate highly what he brings to the table both on and off field.

Would rather go after a topline mid such as Dunkley. As Dawson has shown that's how you improve quickly.

Yeah.. lets trade crouch and fog and all these other contracted players..

You morons actually understand that, as contracted players, these blokes cannot simply be traded against their wishes..

And some of the values that are being thrown around in regards to what we might get for them, are seriously laughable.

If you push a player out of your club.. you can expect to get 4/5th’s of fuvk all for them. and crouch, fog etc arent worth much to start with.. second rounders, as some are suggesting, is utterly delusional.

Poulter would be gettable as part of a Fogarty trade, surely.

We forget how good Powell was - reasonably athletic and an absolute pure football brain. I like Taylor, but Powell has shown way more to this point.

North weirdly are overstocked in their mids. Powell should be getting prioritised but isn't.

Is Dunkley really topline tho?..

To me he looks like another one of what we’ve already got..

We need class, speed and xfactor to add to the grunt of laird and keays..

I will admit I really havent watched a hell of a lot of Dunkley.. but what I have seen really hasnt jumped out at me as anything super special.

Oh please.

People need to decide when you CAN get better value for a player. Is it when he's contracted, or not?

Contracted players move clubs all the time. Sure, there's some chance a player may not want to go, like Breust last year, but mostly they do (like Ladhams last year). Fogarty would see there's more opportunities elsewhere. Crouch would change teams if he felt it suited his career.

Powell was never thought of as a particularly damaging midfielder by anyone I know, he's an accumulator and a nice piece in a midfield rotation.

Powell's shown more simply because he's been in the system longer.
I saw almost every junior game they played coming through, Taylor is the more highly skilled of the two and has more strings to his bow whereas Powell is a pure inside midfielder.

Fog would likely be the one requesting the in contract trade. He would see the writing on the wall that he's behind Walker, Himmelberg, Gollant, Thilthorpe. His management would be talking to clubs now. If we got a mid to late 2nd for him I would be over the moon. Crouch we will get nothing for other than a salary dump. I don't think they would trade him unless he initiated a two year deal elsewhere which is unlikely. Milera is the one I would be shopping around. We would have to pay some of his salary but a club like Gold Coast or North may look at him. If you tell a contracted player you won't be playing them they generally leave on their own accord.

You do know Crouch's partner Ellie has a career in Adelaide too?

Are you stupid, I said only if a premiership contender come with an offer of pick 15-18 and are willing to do the trade if we pay for a majority of his 2023 salary. So we aren't pushing him out and getting peanuts for him like we would for Fogarty and M.Crouch might want to play for a premiership contender since he is in the backend of his career and doesn't have a contract with us after 2023 so a premiership contender offering a 3 years deal after 2023 will be very attractive offer for him.

Dunkley is elite and is one of the dogs best players along with Bont and Macrae. Can play mid and forward.

Geez, I’m not sure if its actually worth asking but..

what do you actually think we’d get for Fogarty then?..

Do you actually believe we are gonna get a second rounder for a bloke that currently cant even get a gig in our 22 and who we’ll be pushing out the door?.. no ones gonna give a shit if hes contracted or not if we are the ones forcing him to move on..

You really cant be that ****n delusional.

We’d get maximum a third rounder. Then what are we gonna use that on?.. if we even use it at all given we wont have many list spots… a speculator?..

Pointless.

We might as hold onto him and see if he can turn it around and delist him if he cant come the end of 2023..

No ones giving us a first rounder for fog or crouch.

Sheeesh.. and you dare to call others stupid..

I said a late first rounder and if we pay a majority of M.Crouch's 2023 salary, hence this will be more beneficial for a premiership contender instead of them using their late 1st rounder. When did I say Fogarty was going to get a 1st rounder? He won't even get a late 1st rounder or even an early to mid 2nd rounder.

We're kind of having a disastrous season on the list management side of things, seeing everyone who has bolted this year is currently out of contract (+ most were likely lads we were hoping to delist), we don't have many to begin with and there is certainly potential it's going to get more uncomfortable with Parnell/Newchurch pushing for a debut.

So it's probably worth considering trading Fog even if we can't use that pick, especially if list sizes aren't increasing. It might be the difference between getting our F/S or not.

Michalanney isn't that highly rated we'd be giving up big draft collateral to get him, he'd likely be in late 2nd/3rd round discussions at best currently IMO

Of course he can rise some off the back of a good Nationals but would have to be absolutely dominant as an undersized key defender to rise sharply.
