At the moment, it's not a very attractive list is it
And thats the issue, is they generally take a while to come on.
It probably comes down to how important the club thing ruckman are and what they are willing to invest
That or you go for a 210cm rookie who can catch and is competitive...if one exists!

At least we would win our share of hitouts and someone who likes to follow up and tackle.
Missed some handy ones there just off the top of my head.

Sean Darcy
Tom De Koning
Braydon Preuss
Nick Bryan
Sam Hayes

And Rowan Marshall who I was very bullish about in both his draft year for the Rebels and the following year when he was starring for the now defunct North Ballarat Roosters on the VFL.

We were also heavily into Jarrod Witt's but the Gold Coast offered him better deal contract length wise.
This was in relation to using an early pick on one, not getting one in general

Wasn't there a fair bit of interest around McAdam and Freo last year?

If Shane could hold his spot and become a strong 30+ goal forward with X-Factor this year (which he's on pace to do), he could actually be worth something on the trade table.

Plus with Sonny Waters being 32 at the start of next year and having lost a step over the last few years, Freo could use another spark player in the F50 to continue their fast rise up the ladder.

But we could have used an early pick on a ruckman that wasn't in this list. All you've show us who they picked, not who was available.

How is Will Verall tracking for this year?
He seems to have dropped off the radar completely, you were quite positive about him a couple of years ago
Missed early games and chunk of preseason with osteo pubis but gradually getting up to speed after a slowish start where he mainly played forward. Last couple of of weeks he's done more rucking and he's starting to fire on all cylinders.

Going to be interesting to see how many talks get a run for SA at the upcoming Nationals given the plethora of tall talent available.

Harry Barnett, Tom Scully Harry Lemmey, Isaac Keeler, Will Verrall might be a stretch fitting them all in.

Keeler misses hopefully

I think ROB was the last project ruckman we took on.
The problem is they take so long normally to be strong enough to compete.
But if we keep using rookie picks, we keep getting ROB and Strachan types
Some pretty handy #1 rucks going around who were taken late in the draft! ROB's been pretty good too in the last 24m, but this year he's certainly down on form.

Nankervis - 35
McInerney - 37
Darcy - 38
Hayes - 47
Witts - 67
Marshall - rookie
Draper - rookie
Preuss - rookie

That our best rucks came from concessions ?

That's a long long time ago. I think he showed a bit as running defender for West Adelaide at U18's level but went undrafted
Surprised we'd have interest more a journey man than a star at SANFL level and at 25 it would be a strange addition IMO with so many youngsters to blood.

Not sure if he's rated a mention here before but one player I'd love us to take a strong look at is Connor Budarick from the Suns. There's a clear link to SA through his old man (although I don't know how long Connor was in Adelaide if at all) which is something to go on and he'd be a direct, like-for-like, superior replacement for Brown as a lockdown small defender with the ability to run off and create.

Seemed like he took a little while (understandably) coming back from an ACL (I think) but he looks like he's back in decent form now but nowhere near a household name so this might be the time to strike.

Would be a great addition to our team.
I like this a lot.

Reckon it could be a bit of a senior "top up" for the SANFL side after we lost Freeman?

Not sure I want to target anyone over 22yo
Jay Rantall (20) the running/tackling machine going pretty well for the Redlegs, another that never really got a fair crack at AFL for the Pies due to being there during the Covid in Victoria?

Collingwood fans thought he sucked and weren't surprised at his delisting

I saw plenty of him live and he didn't suck then especially given he was relatively new to the game coming through an elite basketbal/athleticsl program where he represented Australia.
General thoughts on the Collingwood board were that he was small, slow, had poor skills (especially kicking) and bad football IQ
