Why not go after Dunkley with that pick then as well?
Because Dunkley and Hopper4 for that matter are not very different to what we already have, neither are great users by foot.....Rankine is very different to what we already have. I have no doubt the end game with Rachele is midfield/forward. See the named SANFL team on the weekend.

Wouldn't it be funny if something got cooked up that had pick 4, our 2nd and m crouch to GC for rankine and pick 8
The picks value Rankine at 11. What does Matt Crouch do to affect the deal?

Kornes said something about a player manager that will refuse to let his players go to the Adelaide Football Club because of stuff that has happened there recently.

Is this true and can player managers do that? Can they seriously say, no you can't play at that club? How is that not a story? A Player Manager icing out a club? Is that legal?

Haha of course they can't, they can advise the player but they work for the player not the other way round.

And the reference was to INDIGENOUS players anyhow.

I can't see there being anyway we trade Keays. As a club I just can't see it happening. I wouldn't be against it though.

Got to be a better idea than Kornes' thinking that a Rankine trade will need Thilthorpe, or Fog + Rachele.

I don't know what that flog smokes, but holy hell it must be strong.

I wouldn't begin to rate Rankine as a worthy top 10 pick at all.
Yeah it's difficult.

His potential is top 10 but his output has been good without being consistently great.

He may be a steal or a bust - a Cyril Rioli or a Troy Menzel

It's up to both teams to find a fair number. But I would hate us to give away our pick 4-6 without getting an 8-10 back - as an example

There was an interesting suggestion on twitter that suggested Rankine's management had told Dew that they wouldn't move players back to the Crows after what had happened the past few years.

Thought I'd look at who else they manage to see if there could be any truth.

They manage Rankine, along with, Brad Crouch, Matt Crouch, Eddie Betts and Stengle...

My turn!

Kym Dillon reckons Port Power have their eye on a small forward in the draft, could it be Sheezel? (Who is really more of a medium forward).

Power might get band 2 for Amon?

Could there be a deal that moves Power up to our first pick, their first and the Amon pick heading to us (with possibly some future picks involved).

We send Power's pick for Rankine (love that, thanks PP).

Draft:

19 -
22 -
Michalanney bid matched with points from player trades (Sholl, Crouch etc).

Crouch wants to go, but can he find a club interested in trading for him?

He didn't find any buyers when he went looking 12 months ago, as a FA, albeit coming off a year out due to injury. His stocks have not risen since then. They weren't prepared to take him for free then, why would they be willing to trade for him now?

His stocks have risen since coming back from injury, Vader, because that was never a guarantee. What is debatable is just how much his stocks have risen.

DJ dropped the word "indigenous" there

Here's the quote...Rankine’s manager Dimi Parhas recently told senior Suns staff including coach Stuart Dew he would not move another indigenous player back to Adelaide given his recent experiences.

Dimi Parhas will do whatever the player requsests in reality if he wants to keep them on his books, he can give them advice but at the end of the day he works for the player not the other way round.

Pretty incredible if true. List managers you’d expect to have total impartiality when it comes to their own emotions/feelings on clubs, and do what is economically and developmentally appropriate for their clients. Sounds like one of those informal comments that player managers have with coaches etc, and Suns have jumped on it and passed it onto Jon Ralph.

You’d expect some follow up with the Agency in question by the Crows, and the Agency themselves with the Suns.

Totally out of order and lacking professionalism.

My money would be on Powa going after WA's Darcy Jones if they're targeting a small forward. Plays a fair bit of mid at U18's but his future at AFL level will be up forward.

2 x darcy jones at the powa? Mind blown!

Doesn't for me...Midfielder

That can be acheived by swapping 1st round picks and something like next year's 2nd.

Suns have highly rated Academy players next year they'll need points
How's this one -

Pick 4 and 2023 1st Round for
Rankine, pick 8, pick 24 and pick 35?

Feels a bit too good to be true for us, though I DO think GCS will be looking to move picks into next year.

Maybe 4 and 2023 1st Round for Rankine, 8 and 24?

From our end we are moving from 4 to 19 to get Rankine, on points means we pay pick 16, about what we paid for Dawson.

From GC's end, they get pick 7, not too shabby for an out of contract player.

Port Power also pay a fair price for moving up to pick 4, 7 and 19 is about the going rate I think.

If we really want to go all out this year (and be incredibly brave), I'd go for this:

We have 1st round pick, 2nd round pick and a pick late in the draft (70's?) this year.

So,

Trade 1
Out: Pick 4, Sholl, Murphy
In: JHF, 2023 2nd round pick (North)

In other words it values JHF slightly less than pick 4 and Sholl slightly more than a 3rd round pick. Sholl and Murphy gives North some immediate help as well.

Trade 2
Out: 2023 1st round pick, 2023 2nd round pick
In: Rankine, GC 2022 2nd round pick (tied to Fremantle)

Gold Coast get a likely high first round pick. Helps them with possible academy picks in 2023. They also swap out one of their (many) 2nd round picks in 2022 for one in 2023.

Trade 3
Out: Himmelberg
In: Likely 3rd round pick Fremantle get for Lobb

Trade 4
Out: Matt Crouch
In: 3rd/4th round pick in 2022 (points for us for F/S). Given how well B Crouch has played, I think there will be a club thinking they can get more out of M Crouch.

Trade 5
Out: McAsey
In: WB 2nd round pick (27)

So at this point we have a net result of:

Out:
2022 pick 4
2023 first round pick
2023 second round pick
Murphy
Sholl
Himmelberg
Crouch
McAsey

In:
JHF
Rankine
North 2023 2nd round pick
GC 2022 2nd round pick (Tied to Fremantle)
Fremantle 2022 3rd round pick
2022 3rd/4th round pick
2022 WB 2nd round pick

So, our draft hand looks like

2022: Our 2nd, WB 2nd, GC 2nd, 3rd round (Fre), 3rd/4th round pick + 70ish
2023: 2nd round pick (North), 3rd round pick

Then try and trade our 2 early 2nd round picks up for a pick in the first round (Brisbane maybe? Will this be better points for them)

2022 Draft then:

Pick 16 (Brisbane): Brayden George (Vic Country) 186 cm explosive forward, or Ollie Hotton. Or hopefully a quick midfielder with good skills.
GC 2nd round pick: Used for bid on Michalanney

Then Match bid on Keeler.
Add a KPD and ruck with late picks/rookie draft.

These playstation trades are easy. I don't know why you lot get worked up over it :p
Not sure I agree, but more posts like this please.

It is.

He is no less a presence due to his status as a 'volunteer'

That's just minimising his influence

Everybody BUT Roo from 2017 camp is gone - him stepping away means the club can have clear air
Look - it's taken me a while, but I agree.

He's there for governance, and that was out biggest failing. He advocated for the ex-players who clearly were operational lead on this, and there should be consequences for that.

Pick 4 and 2023 2nd (23-27ish) for Pick 8 and Rankine?
That would be the hope.

Maybe see if we can find something else for them in 2023 as well?
