Would be sad to see Jimmy go but if he’s behind Murphy and McHenry in the pecking order it’s hard to see him getting games with Rachele and Rankine in.
That actually shows what a joke the system is. I think you should have to have a pick within 10 picks of where it's bid or you don't get them, so clubs need to work their way up to a pick, not later in the draft.Just a reminder, Bulldogs used picks 29, 33, 41, 52, 54 to match a pick 1 JUH bid. Bulldogs also used 23, 43, 44, 45 and 52 to match the Darcy bid at pick 2.
As much as we like to joke about playstation trades, the points/bidding system does bring an element of that to reality.
Could we accumulate enough picks with points attached to trade for Brisbane's first (maybe 12), then land Rankine that way?
Sholl, Rowe and McAsey all would be worth picks with points attached.
Is this from a source or are you just reading between the lines?Cox is definitely our number choice, but if unavailable for whatever reason, what about Tom Highmore from St Kilda? Uncontracted, so one less hurdle than Cox.
Without buying into the McAsey/Frampton debate, if we could get Carlton's second round pick for him, that would be to our advantage in getting Rankine. Giving up our first rounder for Rankine would be softened somewhat by two second rounders.
Yep they’re both slowBe a good race between Borlase and McAsey...
Similar turning circle too.

If we offer them a contract, they refuse and delist themselves, they do not become a DFA as a result. What's the deal with DFAs? If we offer a 1 year contract but he says no to it, can he be a DFA or does he need to go into a draft?
God did you really have to go therePrefer McComb?![]()
And there-in lies the problem with club boards .....NFICarlton Board suggesting they should trade De-Koning......2 firsts
Im with you on that one.Wouldn’t even get a game for our VFL side
No, sorry, my post reads that way. I knewwhat I meant when I was writing it.Is this from a source or are you just reading between the lines?
short answer is noIs Weideman an upgrade on Himmelberg? I doubt he is.
I have a feeling Frampton might find a home somewhere, possibly at the Dogs. Those foot skills and intercepting talents could be very handy if he's used with those features of his game in mind.
short answer is no

Is that because he doesn't get to as many contests though?Only difference based on what I've seen is that Weideman doesn't drop as many marks
This image is disturbing.
I think Adam Kelly has said we'd be focussed on trading this year. Hopefully we can lure some good ones and it doesn't backfire on us.Been saying this the last two years, 2021 was the last year we should hit the draft. The next few years should be using first and/or second round picks on 22-25 year olds to fill position needs.
If the rumours are true who were interested in, then this is a good sign.
A sales pitch to Collingwood and Freo is that we can only offload one of Frampton and Berg.If Freo are interested in Berg, which would make sense if Lobb leaves, then I would trade with them.
If Carlton are keen on McAsey and are willing to give a decent pick then that makes sense.
Trade that pick and Berg to Freo for Cox (if he’s interested).
Sign Frampton to a basement price one year deal for cover for the time being.
Borlase wait and see if there’s a list spot.
Obviously a lot of hypotheticals involved but this could work.
We bid on him with our 2018 1st, than selected Jones.Should we be revisiting Tarryn Thomas on a buy low scenario? We did bid on him quite high up at the National Draft if I recall correct? Matt Crouch for TT and some pick swapsies?
Why would we trade McAsey for a pick in the 30s? Let the kid develop. Even if you delist him in 2 years, what do you lose, pick 38? Meh.Surely you try and sell for more than the value YOU think the player is going to provide over his next contract.
Sholl - he is leaving even though we would probably like to keep him. Get the best pick we can for a sweet kicking two-time Rising Star nominee. Carlton will pay a decent price, they are on the rise.
McAsey - should get more than his worth purely on potential. Maybe something like pick 30-40? Massive loss on Pick 6.
Himmelberg - Points for father-son worth more than he provides = take the late 3rd rounder.
Crouch - forget getting anything of worth = take whatever is offered, get his salary off our books.
Rowe - will cost to more to keep than he delivers = let him go and put his $ to better use elsewhere on the list.
Frampton - Eeek. Thanks for your time and effort Billy.
Newchurch - not worth much on the market - plenty of upside, cheap = definite keeper.
On the other side of the coin ...
Rankine - he wants to come, he is out of contract, get it done. Pay the first rounder.
JHF - if he wants to come, he is NOT out of contract, wait and see. Doubtful.
Cox - Elite kicking 100 kg 195cm S.A. backman ... unfortunately contracted through to end of 2024 = pipe dream.
Yeah only reason would be if we need the points for bid matching or if he is keen to leave. Why would we trade McAsey for a pick in the 30s? Let the kid develop. Even if you delist him in 2 years, what do you lose, pick 38? Meh.
