Wonder what someone like Hayden McLean would cost in a trade.

I mean he’d be silly to leave now with Buddy, Reid and Hickey on their last legs. But with Tex just about done, Himmelberg as purely depth, McAsey unproven and Thilthorpe spending more and more time in the ruck, someone like McLean is that perfect mobile FF who can play relief ruck and has shown a bit.

I think Swans would be very reluctant to let him go, but if we offered him instant first team footy…
Himmelberg is a better footballer than McLean....and way more mobile.

Sooner pick up a youngster like Phoenix Foster in the draft and develop then.

Obviously the club think Himmelberg is a bit more than depth to give him another 2 year contract

Cook was no orphan today. Borlase looked terrible at times, Nankervis was tossed aside too easily, and nobody could hold a tackle.

From the last two weeks:
Turner deserves a crack at a pre-season, Crouch/Hately behind him in the pecking order (perhaps Keays as well?)
Pedlar with an injury free pre-season will be just fine.
Newchurch is worth another year as a rookie
Borlase is not up to it
Sholl will only ever be a backup, tradeable
Cook needs a massive 2023 and an attitude adjustment
Gollant is a concern, struggles one on one
If Frampton is leaving, just not sure where our back up KPDs come from. Can’t rely on Worrell, Doedee and co. to play on the big KPFs. Are we forced to keep McAsey?
Taylor needs an extra 5kgs and will be a gun

I didn't realise until today why people were saying borlase would be delisted. Now obvious.
Everything said about Borlase today is true. The main problem I see is that he is a terrible defender, even without the mistakes.
I think he should be played elsewhere. Once, when played on the ball, he looked mobile and good. On another occasion I recall him running through the middle and potting a terrifiic goal.

Cook is not soft. That's Sholl territory. His main problem is that he goes missing too often. He looks good with ball in hand.
Nah, he’s soft. I’ve been a Cook believer, I went today and was close to the ground, he is soft and needs to harden up if he is going to make it. That’s not saying Sholl isn’t soft, he is but he tiny, Cook isn’t. Hopefully he develops that side of his game otherwise he won’t make it

did you watch today?
i'm certainly not saying bust but he looked soft today. very soft. may have been injured IDK.

Yes mobile 2nd ruck is his only hope cannot defend

What makes you think it can’t be true for both pf them?

I don’t know how people don’t see this with Cook, he is painfully soft. He’s actually worse than Sholl right now.

What games like today ought to show is who has finals ability.

Some players lift

Some maintain consistency.

Others overthink it and go to water - it's these you get more data on and make choices based on games like today

And Newchurch has the confidence to take giant steps

We should try Himmelberg down back.
Pedlar still looks light and his arms need work. Has potential especially up forward but needs to get his body stronger and more durable.
Cook has been disappointing this year. Make or break next year.
Sholl needs to be traded or delisted.
I thought Newchurch was improving but I now can't see him making it.
Borlase is garbage and should be delisted but we lack KPD's so they may keep him as backup.
Gollant needs to still put on size and muscle.
Moving Frampton is starting to look like a mistake.
Strachan should be our ruck. He is no Gawn but he is better than ROB.
Nank should be fast tracked next year in the AFL side.
If Taylor can put on 5-8kgs of muscle he could potentially be really good.

Cook looks absolutely gassed. He was a much better player early this season

Clearly Santa is coming early for Adelaide.
Rankine will be minimum pick 5 and future 3rd. Or Future 1st and a second rounder this year. Reference the Cerra trade from last year if you like.
You wont get Cox full stop he’s an important piece for Freo and to suggest pick 16 lol. If Freo were to trade a Key Back it will be Logue and or Hambling.
If Cox asks for a trade I can't see Freo getting in his way. Pick 16 for Cox isn't far off the mark.

You look at that side and effort and you wouldnt think there was to many AFL listed players never mind high draft picks.

Taylor stood out like dogs balls on a hot summers day especially in the 1st half.

I said it many times I can't believe we have Godden in charge of this group.
There's a large group that just look uninspired.

Natural selection PLUS the TPP will sort out lists ......yet you look at most of the Finalists and look at their bottom 6 players in the team .....very few, nay none, bat all the way to #22

Look at RICH .....Tarrant, Miller, Broad, Ross, and Baker (who I'd compare with McHenry) ......hardly skilled players, they are competitive role players though ......and god forbid, you look at the BULLDOGS bottom 6 players

What I'm saying is, even us, at the end of the rebuild will still have the likes of a Jones and McHenry playing.....or similar types, supporters will savage each week .....TPP ensures that

Our issue is that we lock the foot soldiers in early. At all times you should be looking to upgrade the grunts. We don’t, we hold onto them as if they’re the difference between being competitive or not. They almost only ever lose their spots to other senior players or grunts or to kids when injured. Whether contending or rebuilding, this is our selection philosophy.

54.4% KE in his 11 AFL games is hardly anything to write home about.
Sure, but he was playing inside for a good percentage of those (though not enough).

To the eye, his kicking seems improved.

What is wrong with cook? putrid last week and even worse this week?
He's desperate for the off season, I think.

Needs core strength and I don't think he's a wingman. I think we need to persevere with him as a mobile forward.

I don't think it's about being soft. He's not getting to the tackle and having enough core strength to really stick it. He needs an off season desperately.
