Any significant personal changes since the 2018 draft in our recruiting team?

The measure of success or failure for a recruiter is not just who they pick but who they didn’t pick of those still available at their allotted pick.
It’s retrospective I know but the good recruiters don’t miss as many as the ordinary ones.

So Hopper and Tarranto, genuine top line midfielders, Tigers need a trade for Hopper, so going off Vic Media logic that requires 2 x top 5 draft picks if Rankine is worth pick 5 as they are suggesting

Flogs
That’s it, surely one of them can actually question why Rankine should be pick 5 plus some and yet Hopper and Taranto, both high picks, will be a lower cost. **** I hate the VFL

Hopper is still contracted too... so he should be worth more.

GWS can afford to keep him with Taranto leaving.

If Billy is getting a 4 year deal from the Pies, he's the one having the last laugh
So if true, and Billy plays out the SANFL finals for us, does that make him a much better club person than the bloke we now employ to run all our 'supporter' functions?

I really hope (without much confidence) that we’re still working on bringing more 1st rate experience into the club. I know a lot of people just want to ‘get more gaaaames’ into the kids, but having older + elite players on each line will accelerate the rebuild and development of younger players.

The positive thing for me is that there were minimal murmurs about about the whole Rankine move to us until his manager obviously advised them he wanted to come to us. To me it seemed out of the blue for GC

Kind of makes me think we’re keeping things in-house as much as possible.

This data doesn't paint 2nd round picks in a good light .....what the figures do demonstrate is, very few players picked from #6 onwards make an immediate impression .....6.8 years on average to hit 50 games

Hence my mantra ......patience !

All the talk is Dunkley to the Pear. Why aren't we having a crack?
Because Dunkley's disposal is on a par with Taranto .....we're chasing good kicks to complement our existing pressure players

Discussions on the Geelong board that Esava Ratugolea will be put up for trade.

Would he be a fit for us? Maybe as another tall defender & help Rob in ruck?

He would probably come cheap.

Only problem there is he's a Forward that can chop out in ruck right back to his U18 days unless you're talking re-skilling him?
