Supposedly we ponied up to get him to re-sign. There were tons of rumours he was out the door heading into 2021 remember and there was a bit of a surprise when he re-signed.

Can recall clear as a bell the day we re signed McAsey as a wtf moment while listening to SEN.
They reported 2 yrs @ $400 k on the day and as it being of benefit to him like it was contrived and we were possibly going to trade him in contract, the whole conversation was quite odd .

He is only the employee of a committee. Our list is not his to run unilaterally. Last I recall seeing, our LM committee included Fagan, Smallacombe (CFO), Burton, Pyke, Reid and Roo. That’s the type of crap the ‘manager’ has to deal with. Kelly and Nix are both miles out of their depth and we know that Roo is an absolute moron.

Reid gets told what he needs to achieve. He then has to go and make it happen. So your right it's the group that is responsible all be it he is a big part.

Money isn't the issue, it's that we don't have free list spots.

Also just realised we won't have a live pick until the 2nd night.

How can we get involved in unlocking Dunkley to Brisbane and JHF to AFC (assuming he would be happy to come) while making the WB and GC satisfied?

My thinking is that somehow, GWS need to be involved as well as they have the draft hand to make stuff happen and a desire to get pick 1.

JHF to Adelaide:
We send McAdam and Keays (we pay their salaries) plus 5 to Gold Coast for Rankine and 7. Gold Coast won't need to do the Bowes deal, but could still offload him and c.$450k of his salary per year if they wanted to.

We send 7 and future 1st to the North/ West Coast/ GWS super trade and don't ask for Rioli (ie much better than Port offer). We could add our 2nd if port up their bid.

Dunkley to Brisbane:
Moral support. "You've got this, Lions. We believe in you."

Jeez a lot of over the top negative BS gets put on this board. From the camp to Pike and Burton exiting was a sh”tshow granted.

The period leading up to that - two coaches pass away suddenly, we lost two years of draft picks, lost the best player in the game to go home - and still made a GF

We bought in Jacobs, Betts, Jenkins, Lynch etc through the early 2010’s

We reset after the couple of years of rubbish and have since bought in two of our best recruits of all time - Dawson and Rankine

We got Burgess - great get. We got the Hawks CEO off the back of their most successful era ever

We make a lot of mistakes too - but so does everyone else
