Anything over $50 counts as a membership officially, no surprise teams are taking advantage of this.
is that based on what is actually paid or the value of the membership? So if free full memberships are given away (2 for 1 deals), will that count as 1 or 2?

Richmond breaking new records :p

My guess is they have 87,356 members as it stands.

Officially it counts as 1, but the teams themselves often will count every membership irrespective of price. When AFL release the information for memberships during the year, it's not going to count the $20 pet memberships for example, or the freebies.
I'm not quite sure how it counts with a 2 for 1 deal if the price for 1 is more than $100, good question.

Hi guys sorry for being a bit disorganised currently but i am so lost with regards to what is happening with AFL memberships right now. last phone call a few weeks ago when i could actually get through i was told that we'd be emailed our 'barcodes/membership numbers' and from there we could request a card if we liked.

I still haven't seen anything come through yet tickets are already going on sale? can someone please let me know if we should have received this information yet and if i am missing something?

Email from Nisbett to members today said we are over 90,000 and tracking well to break 100,000 again.

But also said all seated members will fit inside the stadium with WA's current 75% capacity rule (45,000). So we must have a lot of pet members!
West Coast surely has to be including sideline memberships in their tally. Even though they have enough support to fill a 100,000 seat stadium, they don’t have the capacity over there to have more than maybe 60,000 match day access members.

Not all memberships are for every match - there are 3 and 5 game memberships etc

I'm actually surprised that we have over 90k members for this season considering last season and how things are looking for 2022.
I wouldnt be surprised if members have just reduced the amount of games they may be going to.

Not so sure I agree. If true they had over 80,000 members last year after being mediocre for two decades then I see no reason why the Blues can’t push for the AFL’s highest membership tally of all time when they finally break into the 8.

Does anyone know what that number is? 110k?

It is true.

81,302 was our finally tally for 2021.

Well when you have about 50 categories of junk memberships it probably helps just a little.

Can we get a list with actual relevance that filters out all the meaningless Add on, Pet, 1 and 3 game members?

Talk about junk Memberships & meaningless categories, I present to you .......

It sounds ridiculous but it’s over $100 a year that’s good money for the club.
Any human that pays over $100 to the club I classify as a member wether a game day or financial member.

I’m confused here? You don’t think it’s good to have a membership category for interstate supporters who want to be involved but can’t attend matches?

Are you a bit thick? Every club has something like this, it is effectively a way of calling yourself a member whilst living away from Melbourne.

Carlton are even charging more than Melbourne!

It does seem a bit rich. I mean it’s lovely for some to have heaps of money to buy the most expensive membership that they can find, but having a go at people with less money and no opportunity to actually take advantage of the perks like attending games for buying something that makes them feel involved is pretty poor IMO

Sorry but this is just an incredibly brain dead take. This is a way for people who want to support the club but live overseas or interstate to contribute should they wish. Pretty sure most clubs have a similar program, including your own

My Auntie is in her 90’s now and went every weekend when she was younger. She is in a nursing home now but still buys some sort of membership every year. As you say it’s her way of feeling connected and supporting the club.
