At least Paddy can find the footy in in bunches and at least has some top notch midfield talent keeping him out of the team... McAsey not so much. 2 rookie selected players enough to keep him out.

Not that he is a terrible player but we have enough developing mids that we can’t give midfield time to - or will struggle to. Dow would be a really poor choice for us to trade for. Better off a ruckmen down the pecking order or a KPD like BZT for depth. Tight for list spots even if McAsey left - we don’t need to recruit solid B grade mids

Disagree.

Hopper seems like an extremely good value get (all eyes on Taranto). Along with Rankine acquisition, reckon we'd be top 9-10 next year.

And you can be assured that is exactly the clubs strategy. As advised by some posters since 2020. Put together a list that gets us back to being around the bottom of the 8 and vying for a spot in the finals as quickly as possible. Finish 8th next year, announce rebuild is done, go to draft with pick 10 and resume putting everything we have towards the singular goal of making the 8 because anything can happen from there.

Because we blew 2 years of high draft picks we need another 2 years at the bottom hoping to get our Oliver/Petracca combo. But that's not us, because that's rebuilding with the goal og building a list to vy for premierships. Our philosophy is to build a list to vy for a spot in the 8 because anything can then happen.

Watching a few of the you tube trade rumour vids made by randoms and they all seem to be mentioning Yeo to the crows. These vids are rarely accurate but anyone heard this rumour? He seems a bit cooked to me. 28 yeas of age so not the age group I would have thought they would be targetting.

Seriously you reckon 28 years old isn't a target age group? Full steam ahead to contend for a spot I the 8 next year. All decisions geared to that end.

He will have been clearly told he is back up only.
If he stays, he will be expecting to play SANFL.

The only issue is that it seems like a number of our Senior players (Sloane, Walker etc...) think he should be playing AFL, and it might be causing some division.
I hope he moves on, for his sake and for ours.

Seems a stupid decision unless he's happy to call it a day at AFL level already. If he's serious about his career then he's almost certainly going to have to leave Adelaide and another year in the 2s might extinguish existing opportunities. Not having been through it myself, but what's the difference between being interstate whilst pregnant and being there with a baby? Surely either way it's a challenge and not the ideal scenario. But it's all but inevitable, so putting it back a year only puts his career at risk.

If we do bring in Hopper what does that mean for Sloane, Schoenberg, Pedlar and Keays?

You would say Laird and Berry are centre square midfield locks.

Assuming we split pick 5 and get Rankine and Hopper with the spoils of it, are people happy with that??

Sloane shouldn't be in the 22, playing him forward is a problem because the others should be rotating mid/half forward with a deepened rotation. So with Fog, TT, Tex, Rachelle, Rankine & McAdam as forwards, we don't have a lot of spots for our deepened rotation. Blowing that spot hoping to get a cooked senior player through a season in a supposed rebuild would be extremely dumb but also highly likely. Sloane should be playing half back in the 2s.

Hopper and Rankine for 5 would be pretty good.

You see a future in Dow?

isnt sloaney the perfect sub most weeks - play any position-just few games here and there still there to be skipper if they wish although I think its time to hand the batton to doedee personally.

Dawson is the next captain, Doedee is injured too often and form yoyo's too much also when we've had the chance this season the captain has mainly been Smith or O'Brien

Sloane would be in the forward line if he plays regardless whether we get Hopper or not imo. If we got Hopper it would probably be Soligo that gets shuffled out to wing and Keays may not get a game with a fit forward line of McAdam, Rankine, Rachele. I think our midfield would be Laird, Hopper, Berry unless they played Soligo over Berry in there. Now that I think of it Sloane may not even get back into the team if everyone is fit.

Unfortunately he will, no way he plays 2s outside of a tune up or 2. Assuming no hiccups with process, I expect him to be pushing to play in the trial games. He knows that no matter how he goes, if he's in those sides, then he's locked in all year. Rory Sloane will never be dropped from the 1s to the 2s. He just needs to get into the final trial game, around 10.5 months I guess, so doable.

Not me, looks vanilla.

Would prefer to invest in our midfield talent.

If we are trading out McAsey, we take picks not average players.

It's funny how it's been reported in Melbourne that it's baffling why Mcasey hasn't been able to make our AFL side. Have they seen him play this year? He would've been dropped from the sanfl team if we have a reserves team in the sanfl.

They're probably just going on his debut year when thrown to the wolves in a winless side and looked ok without actually being what you'd call a good performer. We then Chayce Jonesed him turning him into a performer worthy of being dropped to the 3s.
