I would've thought picking up Matthew Jefferson ensures us staying at the top more than Grundy does, and sending Gawn forward who can't kick straight.

If you can't kick straight, you shouldn't be in the forward line. It kills a team. just ask stkilda fans. There's been many games this year where they would've been better playing Max King in the backline or on the wing. A missed goal is a turnover, a clanger, a momentum swinger. It's too costly.

I actually think that Grundy will come to melbourne though. Based on the fact that he's visited Goodwin and gawn on more than one occasion.

How is pinning our hopes of sustained success on an undrafted 17 year old we might not even get access to a better bet than bringing in one of the premier ruckmen in the comp, who would come in to fill an immediate need when Jackson leaves? Why do you think those two recruitments are mutually exclusive?

Anybody who can’t see the merit in having Petracca as sub has rocks in their head. There’s a reason that St Kilda overlooked him and that’s because he gets ahead of himself. In the 2021 Grand Final, he had 39 disposals and 2 goals, has he even got close to those numbers in a Grand Final since? Hell, even in that game he slacked off, in the third quarter with 47 seconds to go; he kicked a goal, won 3 clearances and was involved in all of our scoring chains. I’ve crunched the numbers and he hasn’t been able to replicate these stats in the slightest this year across 120 minutes, across 22 matches. If he did he would have 2700+ goals and 8000+ clearances. One wonders if the penny will ever drop for this bloke? Until he stops being such an erratic burst player, sub seems to be his best role.

Hard to disagree with any of the Trac stuff id have thought.

As I said in the Collingwood thread, WA is a weird state so it will naturally throw up weird results, im giving Trac zero credit for the Norm Smith until Im able to see him do it in the real world at the MCG.

but people are saying 5 years as if it's a fact that he'll play until 34 and ignoring the fact that there is a high likelihood that he will be done years before then.

That being the case, you could say "I've got big concerns he'll play more than three years" rather than melt over it and state it as fact.

This is why we really need to look at a 3 pronged ruck attack. Gawn = ruck ruck, Grundy = ruck ruck rover, Jackson = rover ruck/crumbing ruckman. I’ve been saying this for ages.
