About the best you could expect for an uncontracted player.
Keen to fire up the Deathriding Freo thread, but imagine those picks may be moved to get higher up the order this year.
I enjoyed deathriding The Western this year, though that was purely for the schadenfreudeDeathriding threads always backfire. Time to fire up the Freo 2023 Bandwagon thread. Heave Ho.

Wasn't Freo's original offer for their first this year and next straight up? We got a future second thrown in and got to ditch Bedford. About as good as we could have hoped for given the circumstances. Not great to lose a player like Jackson and only have pick 13 to show for it. Can only do so much though with the AFL rules which let players hold the clubs who drafted them to ransom.
Let's hope we don't concede anything on Grundy now.
Interesting tactics to have declared twice in one trade period that an offer isn't good enough and then taken it anyway.
Our guys always fold in the end. They just want to get trades done and move on. No doubt they have some plans to trade up with those picks. Not great to lose a player like Jackson and only have pick 13 to show for it. He most likely hasn't signed the contract with Freo yet, there's still hope.Jackson's leaving? Wow. Disappointing.
Apparently. I saw a report in the media, but I wouldn't believe everything you read.Jackson's leaving? Wow. Disappointing.

Of course the end result is disappointing. I'm pleasantly surprised we could squeeze an extra second out of it. Personally, I made my peace that we were going to get reamed a while ago.We were ditching Bedford regardless and had already knocked back the same offer for that pick.
Given we'd asked for a top 10 pick I think it's fair to be a little disappointed. Club didn't have any leverage, Jackson was clearly never going to West Coast and it disappoints me that his management got away with spinning that he was willing to.
Yeah should have let him walk to the PSD for nothing.Soft by Lamb. pathetic really. losing Jackson and not getting a pick in the top dozen is a terrible loss for us. I look forward to booing Jackson next year.

Could've waited an extra day or 2 days. He could've done it in the last 15 minutes and see if Freo make something better happen. Why cave so early? So we can get some 29 year old spud in Grundy?Leverage (negotiation) - Wikipedia

In principle, I agree with you as our forward options are slim. In reality though, if he couldn't get a gig leading into finals in an undermanned forwardline then the FD are clearly done with him.I think we should keep Weid as depth.
But if it happens to make other trades work for our benefit, so be it.
Then that would've been an extra day or two closer to Jackson walking to the PSD for precisely zero. Again, he was uncontracted – we had no leverage whatsoever and have done well to improve upon Freo's initial offering.Could've waited an extra day or 2 days. how did we improve on Freo's initial offer? we brought in Freo's future 2nd which is about pick 32..but we lost pick 44 to do so. So its no real upgrade at all. Especially as melbourne said pick 44 was unders for Bedford. Then that would've been an extra day or two closer to Jackson walking to the PSD for precisely zero. And give up the nonsense re Grundy. You're already insufferable with Brown, but at least there's a modicum of merit to your criticism of him.
Grundy is not, in any way, shape or form, a spud. He's miles ahead of Jackson at the moment, and will give us a better shot at winning the flag over the next couple of years than Jackson would have.
I think personally for him a change would be good, it's clear he isn't first picked for us.In principle, I agree with you as our forward options are slim. In reality though, if he couldn't get a gig leading into finals in an undermanned forwardline then the FD are clearly done with him.
He could be useful at Essendon if they get him right.
Can you imagine Clarry as a spokesman for your brand? The head is one thing, the elocution is another.View attachment 1531466
Also, is there any AFL-related brand that Trac doesn't get advertising dollars from? The boy is cleaning up.
Poor Clarry – he's the better player, but as the owner of one of the elite heads for radio, he gets nada.
